Is anybody willing to defend the porno scans and body gropes?

The x-ray machines that scan your luggage?

They don't work.

I got on at least two flights after 9/11 with a Swiss army knife in my luggage. I realized that I had it while I was in line, and since it was my dad's, wasn't willing to give it up. So I stashed it in my carry-on. No issues whatsoever.

These measures won't work either. It's just ridiculous and I won't be a part of it.

I still carry my pocket knife , but put it in my checked bag. I suppose the x ray machines do work , but looking at it for awhile , most things are going to start looking pretty similar .

The argument that "you don't have to fly" seems to be the most plausible argument.

Response:

TSA plans to roll airport style security out across the country and across all forms of transportation, including cars and non transportation related events like sporting events, concerts, shopping malls, etc.

What then?

Studies suggest that full body massages coupled with therapeutic X-ray pulses reduce the risk of gout by 50%!

Lets see any of you TSA player haters take on that . HA!

Well, you don't HAVE to leave your basement you know. You can shop on the internet and have stuff delivered to your door. You will be out of work so you can draw welfare. If you walk out your front door, of course, you automatically give up all of your rights, it says so right in the commerce clause. ;)

Oh hell yes!!!! - Grope and scan - talk about happy and full employment progs - this could seriously FIX the economy!!!!!!!!!!

Am I the only one who really wants to walk through a pornoscanner with something like "IF YOU CAN READ IT, YOU MAY AS WELL SUCK IT" written in metallic paint on my cock? Cause that would be epic lulz.

Why all the fuss? The 4th amendment was written BEFORE modern technology and modern terrorist activity. If being scanned or searched makes flying safer, why would any one person with common sense object? The Constitution starts out with "We the People" not "I" the person. It was written for the common good of the people and supersedes the individual where and when necessary. The terrorists are relying on the attitude of those who object so they can sneak in and do their evil deeds. When being scanned or searched --- just grin and bear it like you did in the shower room at school.

Am I wrong in how I would rather have planes blow up etc..., then give away any of my liberties? Keep in mind, this goes for anything. IOW, nukes in cities etc..

Ok, I'm willing to examine the flip side. What if we are all wrong? What if the government actually does care about us and our safety? What if terrorism is a threat? What if Obama really is seeing in his daily briefings a tremendous threat to airlines?

I think if we're FAIR, we can admit that TSA agents touching our entire bodies would keep terrorists from sneaking lots of things past security. Not EVERYTHING mind you, but if you have something up your pants or near your penis or whatever the case may be, it is likely that the pat-down would detect what you are hiding.

I am very against the TSA doing this, and I'm against the porn machines too. But I think it is a fair argument that in some ways, they make air travel "safer" - but at the cost of violating our natural rights.

Sadly, I can't argue any further than that. I'd like to argue that it's the only way to keep us safe. I'd like to argue that it's the most effective way too. Nope, it obviously is not. But let's keep it fair - having somebody touching your entire body will result in more unwanted objects being found than just having somebody walk past a metal detector.

All that I can say is that I am willing to have planes blow up than sacrifice any shred of liberty.

No, you are not wrong.

The risk of being blown up in a "terrorist" attack is about a 1000 times less than getting killed on the highway driving to the airport, assuming a 1 hour 50 mile drive.

Our fellow Americunts are the ones who are wrong on this.

Silly, scared, pants pissing crybabies who, like Franklin's adage says, will not get, nor will they deserve liberty or safety.

Explosives can be secreted away in vaginal and anal cavities. Suicide bombers have already used this method.

Is the answer to that full chest Xrays or anal and vaginal probes?

Vaginal probes for children?

Look, the corporate world is going down this same road.

They, and we, have been sold a bill of goods, a false idea, that life can go on with no risks, that, in the words of a CEO I know, "A zero accident workplace is possible".

Well yes, sure it is, possible, but at an unacceptable loss of productivity. In the final analysis, if you want a zero accident workplace, especially in an inherently dangerous environment such as the one I work in, your only choice is to wrap everybody up in bubble wrap, send them home, and lock the doors.

Mission accomplished.

Nothing in the world is more heavily regulated and "safety" conscious, to the point of absurdity, than these three things: US nuclear submarines, commercial air travel, and manned space missions.

Two of these three could never turn a profit in the real world based on cost/risk analysis.

The middle one hangs on only through government subsidies and bailouts.

And all three suffer major accidents with loss of life, in spite of truckloads of top heavy paperwork, rules, regulations, codes, checklists and forms.

Good fucking grief, this is America, everything we've done was based on insane risk, just getting here 100 years ago, let alone 300 years ago, was an extraordinary risk.

Nothing good is accomplished without risk.

What the fuck have we become, to be such pussies about everything anymore?

My god, just the collective stick up everybody's ass about a tiny piece of burning, shredded plant matter should be enough to wake everybody up to the problem.

None of us get out of here alive, we're all worm food in the end.

What we do with life, determines our worth.

And a risk free life is not a life, it is a prison sentence.
