Sowell: Diversity is our strength? There’s no evidence of that​

If there is any place in the Guinness Book of World Records for words repeated the most often, over the most years, without one speck of evidence, “diversity” should be a prime candidate.

Is diversity our strength? Or anybody’s strength, anywhere in the world? Does Japan’s homogeneous population cause the Japanese to suffer? Have the Balkans been blessed by their heterogeneity — or does the very word “Balkanization” remind us of centuries of strife, bloodshed and unspeakable atrocities, extending into our own times?

Has Europe become a safer place after importing vast numbers of people from the Middle East, with cultures hostile to the fundamental values of Western civilization?
“When in Rome do as the Romans do” was once a common saying. Today, after generations in the West have been indoctrinated with the rhetoric of multiculturalism, the borders of Western nations on both sides of the Atlantic have been thrown open to people who think it is their prerogative to come as refugees and tell the Romans what to do — and to assault those who don’t knuckle under to foreign religious standards.

The recent wave of refugees flooding into Europe include Muslim men who have been haranguing European women on the streets for not dressing modestly enough, not to mention their sexual molestation of those women.

Smug elites in Europe, like their counterparts in America, are not nearly as concerned about such things as they are about preventing “Islamophobia.” Legal restrictions on free speech in some European countries make it a crime to sound the alarm about the dangers to the culture and to the people.

In the lofty circles of those who see themselves as citizens of the world, it is considered unworthy, if not hateful, to insist on living according to your own Western values or to resist importing people who increase your chances of being killed.

But if you don’t have the instinct for self-preservation, it will not matter much in the long run whatever else you may have.

America’s great good fortune in the past has been that Americans have been able to unite as Americans against every enemy, despite our own internal differences and struggles. Black and white, Jew and Gentile, have fought and died for this country in every war.

It has not been our diversity, but our ability to overcome the problems inherent in diversity, and to act together as Americans, that has been our strength.
Some people demand American citizenship, as if it is an entitlement, while burning the American flag and waving the flag of Mexico. And the apostles of “diversity” and “multiculturalism” watch in silence. That includes the (former) President of the United States.

Unfortunately, there is remarkably little interest in the relevant facts about crime rates, disease rates, welfare dependency or educational deficiencies among immigrants from specific countries. Most debates about immigration policies are contests in rhetoric, with hard facts being ignored as if they didn’t exist.

Sowell hits a home run. Sad to realize that this article is almost ten years old now. Same as it ever was.

We have a pretty damned good idea. But the problem really isn't that we don't know all their names for certain. The problem is that we keep rallying behind one of their candidates because the other one promises to be worse, instead of leading those who look to us because they know we have knowledge and principle in a different direction.

LOL. Nope. You weren't. All Trump did was a temporary full blown attack on due process cloaked in blatant, naked racism. He let freaking 60 white South Africans in off of a fake claim of genocide while threatening to deport hard working, drug free, showed up on time Hatians who face real danger back home. Today when he made this announcement about amnesty for farm and hotel workers who are actually here ILLEGALLY (the Hatians are here legally under TPS just like the 60 white South Africans), he took a swipe at the Hatians AGAIN! This time he didn't repeat the cat/dog lie but made the false claim that they were turning Springfield Ohio into a "third world country." Another lie. The crime rate did NOT increase when the Haitians came. Yes there is a higher total number of crime but per capita crime went down. And most of the new victims are Hatian. Anyhow, Trump threw his base a meaty bone and now he's snatching it back. It's kind of like how Al Bundy used the "dollar on a string" trick at the nudie bar.

LOL. First Japan is much more ethnically diverse than Sowell is claiming. Look up information about the Yakuza and their ethnic background. Now someone may say "See! Proof that diversity is a problem because those are the criminals." But the problem comes from the society maginalizing those groups rather than from those groups themselves. Secondly, like it or not, China is now MUCH stronger than Japan and also much more ethincally diverse. Third, WHITE Americans are about as ethnically diverse as the Balkans. Remember that whole "Great American Melting Pot" song? The Balkans are basically all white people who don't get along. Those same white people seem to do fine here in America. (I've not heard of any massive Serbian on Croat violence here in the good old U.S.A.) So the problem seems to be one of marginalization rather than one of diversity.

Lastly, anyone who subscribes to Sowell's position is denying Christianity. Yes I said it. The Christian church, from it's foundation, was diverse by design.

Acts 6 is very telling. The Greek widows complained against the Hebrews (DIVERSITY), because they weren't getting enough fo the poor fund (EQUITY), so the apostles appointed 7 deacons to deal with the problem, ALL OF WHOM HAD GREEK NAMES! (INCLUSION). This attack on diversity is actually an attack on Jesus.
