Chip here! I've always been registered either independent or Libertarian (until recently - switched to Republican for this cycle). Became aware of Ron Paul through the LP a while ago ... and am very thankful that he's running.

Hi everybody, I think I've made one or two posts here already a couple months ago...

Anyway, I'm an U.S. military officer currently deployed and was recently (and pleasantly) surprised to discover that the forums weren't specifically blocked by the filter here as so much else is.

I've been a Ron Paul supporter since early summer and have spread my support of RP by participating in the Write Iowa campaign (I'm originally from Iowa) and by trying to convince my family to also be Ron Paul supporters. My mom is now on board (she was reluctant for awhile because, while she agreed with his message and speech that he delivered in Cedar Rapids when he visited there, she "didn't think he could win.") I've convinced her that he couldn't win unless she and others took up a more active role... she's still slow on the uptake but I have convinced her at least to attend the caucuses in January to support Dr. Paul.

Being in the military and deployed, I really feel like I have my hands tied as far as supporting Dr. Paul is concerned. There is really no platform to express my beliefs locally without jeopardizing my career, and I'm reluctant to even mention that I'm in the military when I write letters that are "pro-Paul" in case that it could be construed as using my position to influence.

I do what I can (have donated three separate times now, $500 on Nov 5) and plan on supporting Dr. Paul in whatever ways possible until he is my next Commander-in-Chief.

I currently a full-time college student [returning adult] who is going for a Undergrad degree in Architecture and a Masters in Architecture + Real Estate development certificate. Architecture Studio is brutal for time.

I also work 3 jobs.

Have been uninterested in politics because I felt it didn't matter; Left vs. Right, Conservative vs. Liberal, Democrat vs. Republican. They are all cut from the same cloth. I voted straight Democrat the last election hoping to send a message. Now in DC it's still biz as usual.

Hi Everyone,
Getting involved in a candidates campaign has never been something I have EVER wanted to do. But I find myself fed up with the downhill slide our nation has been in. The only way I see US returning to our former glory is to get Ron Paul elected as our President.
He is the first ever politician that has struck me as truly honest and sincere. I joined our local meetup and try to do what I can, when I can, to 'get the word out' concerning 'Hope for America'.
I am a graphic artist and screen printer working way too many hours these days. But I do manage to hand out quite a few slim jims when I do get away from the shop! As well as leave them laying around offices and businesses for people to read in waiting rooms. My family and friends are already sick of seeing me wear 'Ron Paul' tee's EVERY time they see me. But I have had many ask me...Who is Ron Paul? Which 9 times out of 10 opens the door to new friends and allies! Thanks for the forum! We need to share our ideas with each other across the country.

Who Is Ron Paul?

Maybe many of you are too young too know that the Libertarian Party was founded upon the "roots" of Ayn Rand's philosophy.

In her novel "Atlas Shrugged" the question "Who Is John Galt?" was written everywhere, on walls, sidwalks and in newspapers and no one could answer the question, but it became a rallying cry and almost a curse used by virtually everyone.

Well John Galt was the man who came to destroy the old statist order and save the world for the rational still alive in the world.

Therefore, it is not very difficult "now" to answer the question, "Who Is Ron Paul?"

I like the USA as a country but the international policy has grown out of control. ( not to mention the national)

It seems he is one of the few without dirty hands and I am glad to see him get so much support cause he talks sense and logic.

He is the man who can save your rights, freedom and moral values and I hope he raises enough support to get in the white house and get rid of the companies secretly ruling.

Who, what, when ,where was I turned onto Ron Paul... hmm, good question. The first time I saw Dr. Paul, I was watching Attack of the Show on G4TV. They had him, and asked him about things such a Net Neutrality, which is something im interested in. I agreed with his stance there, and did a bit of research, and was hooked, 100%, on the guy.

Before Ron Paul... I was a imperialist/Military society promoter, thinking that absoulute control was the only way anything could be done. Ha... how warped my thinking was back then. For as long as I know i've struggled with depression and suicide urges.. But after finding about Ron Paul, I rarely find my self mulking around in sadness, and instead find my self thinking about a future with Ron Paul as prez.

Well, besides that, my life is pretty boring, nothing really to do out where I am, but watch Ron Paul youtubes and browse these forums.

My name is Jeff. I'm 29. I'm an insurance agent and entrepreneur. While I'm new to the forums, I'm NOT new to Ron Paul. I became a fan of his back in 2003 when I first became a libertarian. As a lifelong Republican I voted for Bush in 2000. I was initially part of the insanity of 9-11, but as I read more history and became acquainted with the likes of Mises, Rothbard, and Rockwell, I realized that the Reason I was a Reagan Republican was because I was really a libertarian. There's a lot more to this part of the story, but I'll save you the bore.

I first became acquainted with Dr. Paul through lewrockwell.com. He has an awesome archive there. I didn't know where I wanted to put my effort until I heard about the USA Today ad. When I found out it was a ronpaulforums.com brainchild, I knew I had to jump in.

My name is Steve. I am 34 years old and live here in the great NW. I am a husband of 10 years with two beautiful daughters (10 years and 19 mo's). I am back in school for finance and am a student and active participant in the market.

I have been a political pessimist for my entire voting life always feeling like decent people simply don't get into politics. I have never really participated in a campaign and would have laughed hysterically 6 mo's ago if someone suggested I make a donation to a political campaign and then with a smirk I'd have said, "yeah right". I was in the 82nd AB right after high school and have always been an advocate for a strong national defense. I also consider myself a fiscal conservative and proponent of smaller government.

I do not align myself up completely with Dr. Paul's views but after extensive research have grown to respect the man immensely. His message and set of principals has drawn me into the fray in a way I never thought possible. He has moved me and I feel compelled to do what I can to help spread his message. I have donated to his campaign, have a bumper sticker on my Audi and have pledged to participate at the Tea Party. I am not a member of any meet up groups as I do not have the time, but I do work at a major University where I have begun distributing copies of Mr. Lepard's (Thank You) ad around campus after I made a bundle of copies. I am not going to saying which University I work for but I am not happy that WSU just scored a TD ...

I think the grassroots efforts of this campaign are commendable and I think/hope that regardless of the outcome of this election, that a real movement for change and an attempt of the conservatives to take back their party that has been hijacked by the neocons (imho) is in progress. I hope supporters passionately educate with respect and not attack as I was taught that two wrongs never lead to a right.

Hello hello,
I'm currently a senior Mechanical Engineer at CBU in TN. Hopefully I'll be in graduate school a year from now. I spend most my time running a fraternity, working at an internship, doing homework, and partying.

Political background:
well it's short. I'm 21 and am just now solidifying a lot of my views. I'm moderately conservative, but hold great disdain for both the major political parties. I spent a lot of time doing research about a year ago to see what political views I really allign with. I was quickly attracted to the ideas of Federalism, Constitutionalism, and Libertarianism (at least at a national level) all with a streak of conservative. I pushed by the Constitutional party in the US when I realized the strong christain strain they wanted in the government (I am a Roman Catholic, which is all the more reason why I see the need for a church/state seperation). I'm originally from Arkansas, love my state. Despite my political qualms with Huckabee, he would be the Republican I'd vote for 2nd because of my highest ranking political concern -

Here are my major concerns in order:

Candidate Transparency I don't attack Busch for what he's done. I don't understand a lot of it and I feel that is his fault. When a candidate stands on principles before policy he is predictable, and therefore trustworthy.

Economics- the value of our dollar and the national debt. I'm no economist, so I have little to say here. I hope to become more proficient in this area as I continue my education. I do know that the path we are on isn't working, so my basic political stance here is to be a contrarian to the status quo.

Personal Liberty- Why have laws that aren't absolutely needed, especially at a national level? If a community decided they want certain laws, that's fine. I can easily join a new community (community read state).
- and as an extension of personal liberty, I believe lower taxes and not holding a nanny state are key. Higher taxes and more government programs prevent social mobility which is truly at the heart of what allows Americans to excel.
People > government bureaucracy. That not only refers to things like social security and government programs designed to help citizens, but also to foreign aid. As a Christian, or as a moral human being, one only fulfills their personal responsibility of helping those less fortunate if they are choosing to give to the poor, not if the government is doing it for them. Leave it to less taxed individuals to choose to help others.
The Republican party has become a much more authoritative party lately, using big government for economic, social, foreign, and individual issues. The Democratic party has stood as a mainly contrarian party lately... but not in a less government direction.

Environmental truth- from a scientist/engineer prospective
Global warming, and our effects on the environment need to be controlled by the scientific community, not politicians. As an engineer, Al Gore's video made me cringe- don't get me started in sound statistical date and understanding trends. I class sections offered each semester at my university at lower level than calculus I, it becomes clear that the majority aren't really going to understand what is going on here. I want to know who the candidates would place as secretary of Energy, and their policy/aptitude. I'd like to see non politicians as cabinet members where possible.

International The ability to empathize... understanding what motivates foreign attack. I teared up with pride when Rudy and Ron got into it regarding why 9/11 happened. "Because we are over there" so simple
And as stated early, individual level foreign aid.

Political reform 1st- the electoral college. I feel every district should get a vote worth a single point. Then, to keep small states' advantage, the winner of the popular vote in a state gets 2 more points (the Senate points).
2nd- Ending the 2 party system.
I understanding its formation and its advantages, and do deeply respect them. But I truely feel it has done more harm than good. I know we are a republic, but would a run off vote for the office of president really be that unreasonable? Knowledge that a run off will occur would great enhance voters' likely hood to vote for who they wanted rather than who they think can win.
