Welcome to the forums. Whaddaya think?

so far I like it. I haven't been around too much of the forum, but considering ya'll are all Dr. Paul supporters and Dr. Paul appears to be the only true Stateman (as opposed to politicians, which Washington is crawling with) I believe I'll ( mostly) fit in quite nicely.:)

None of us entirely fit in, therefore, you should fit in well. I think? I think....

apparently it seems that I may fit in a little too well, as I just noticed that a senior member of the forum has a virtually identical name to mine.

to the other unreconstructed: please take note that my choice of name was in no way an attempt to "imitate" you, and no disrespect was intended. I registered with this name, since it is my most well known public domain handle. I use it on every forum that I am a member of.

I would like to apologize in advance for any confusion that I have created.

Hello, I'm Aaron and I'm from Indiana

I'm a registered member of the SPUSA, but don't misunderstand my purpose here. I'm not here to troll, or attack people.

More so to make friends with fellow supporters of third party candidates and against our equel enemies the Democrats and Republicans.

While we are opposite on the ideological background. I hope that we can still reach across the partisan lines.

We have a lot of respect for your movement on the left. Not per say for the ideals, but for organization and dedication.

I wish good luck to Bob Barr, and Chuck Baldwin in this election, although my vote is going for Brian Moore, I hope that we can break the monopoly on politics that the two major parties have.

Thanks, and I look forward to discussion with all of you!

Welcome, exatreide.

There are a lot of serious conservatives on this forum. If you haven't been floating, be forewarned that some here have little patience with arguments against the free market.

However, I think you will also find a growing sentiment in favor of working with liberty lovers of all stripes. At the very least, I hope we have some good ideas for furthering that goal.

If you are a true friend of liberty and a good patriot, we will stand by you in the end (even if we flame you a bit in the middle).

Welcome Exatreide. *hides wallet* Enjoy the forums, hope ya have a thick skin, because there's some pretty hardcore free marketeers here.

Welcome Exatreide,

It is the statists that you, Exatreide, should worry about ;) Especially of the Nadernuts that have infiltrated c4l.

Hi everybody,

I'm a relative newcomer to the Ron Paul forums. I voted for Bush in 2000, although it was a result of me being an uneducated voter rather than genuine support. I, like many Americans, was shocked by 9/11 and, feeling uncertain and vulnerable, placed faith in my government that they "knew better than me" about what needed to be done. Even though I wasn't convinced going in Iraq was a good move, I convinced myself that they had access to secret intelligence that I did not, which surely made it justified.

Not long after, I realized I was lied to. This realization shook my faith in the entire idea of government. I was angry that my indoctrination to "trust my government" and that my president "would never lie to us" permitted me to be so naive. By 2004, my anger no longer stemmed from the Iraq war alone, but expanded to the attack on our civil liberties and other issues. I was about to support "the democrat" until I realized that John Kerry voted for all the things I disliked about the prior 4 years. In my frustration that there was no other choice, I stumbled upon the Green party (by chance) and found their different point of view very refreshing. It seemed to be the party that the democrats claimed to be.

Soon after, I learned about Ralph Nader and found his message about corporate dominance over our lives to be quite convincing. In particular, I concluded that corporate influence on the two party system was what was stifling our choices at the ballot box and I became a hardcore supporter, successfully lobbying for his to visit my home town to give a speech.

Last year I heard about Ron Paul after the money bombs. His performance on the debates were impressive and I was surprised that a self-described Republican could have such strong views against the war and for civil liberties. It made me realize that real conservatives aren't what the Republicans make them out to be and that perhaps my shift to the left was only because they appeared to be the obvious alternative at the time to what I perceived to be conservatives -- the neocons. I've been watching Ron Paul closely, but I had some difficulties reconciling his message with those of Ralph Nader, whom I had agreed with for more than 4 years.

Finally, it hit me that there are fewer disagreements that I originally realized. I agree with the principle of self-government and subsidiarity -- in other words, that people should have control over their own political destiny on as small as scale as possible. This is totally consistent with the idea of states' rights under a federal constitution that ensures that states don't infringe on individual liberties protected by the constitution. In other words, if I believe in any social programs at all, they should be enacted at the local level and not forced upon everybody else at the federal level. Indeed, even different states that agree to the same social program, may want to organize it differently and should be free to do so. Other states may not want any at all, and should not be forced to engage in them if they don't desire to do so.

At that point, I started devouring various literature from Ron Paul and eventually wound up reading details of the Austrian school of economics. The Austrian school literature makes very strong arguments in favor of a free market economy that I cannot ignore. Indeed, I admit that I am slowly coming to terms with the abandonment of some of my social program ideals. It's not that my opinions about the "ends" have changed, but rather that the "means" to achieve the "ends" may do more harm than good.

That said, I doubt that I will ever support a completely unregulated market. For example, I don't trust a private industry nuclear energy company to "take it upon themselves" to ensure appropriate safety standards are met. And in that particular case, mistakes made by a nuclear company would have disastrous effects on the liberties and private property of many Americans living around the plant, so perhaps it would be the libertarian thing to enforce regulations in some cases. In this respect, I still maintain a great deal of agreement with Nader's platform of limiting corporate power, but I don't think that's necessarily in disagreement with a free market. Rather, it's just a way of ensuring that corporations don't exert their influence over government, removing the "corporate personhood" idea that corporations receive all the same rights and liberties as real human beings and ensuring that corporations don't knowingly release potentially dangerous products onto the people.

So that's how my political journey has led me here. And it continues. I look forward to debating many issues with people on these forums as I continue to refine my ideas.

Hello!re

Hello everyone. Ive been a member of this site for quite a while, but for some reason my registration e-mail never got to me. So i forgot about you all for a bit, until i was bored enough to give it a try again via "lost password".

So here i am.

Some things about me: Been a member of Debatepolitics.com for years now, and have been known to cause headaches to Neo-cons and socialist (known in the US as liberals) on facebook's US politics application.

I am pro free market, yet not exactly an anarcho-capitalist because things such as police, fire, and national defense are a tad bit difficult for the private sectors to operate effectively.

Besides all that, i believe strictly in our constitution and the wonders of true republicanism!

Hey out there! My name is Doc Holladay and I've been signed up here for a while, but for whatever reason have spent most of my 'blog time' over at the Daily Paul, so I thought I'd come back over here today and see what's going on. I'm an eye doctor in Nashville, but I'm also a musician and a songwriter, and most of my work over the last year has been inspired by the Revolution and freedom related issues such as the NWO, 9/11 etc. I just finished a new track called "Love's Gonna Win" and it was inspired by the way the word 'love' is used in the word
"Revolution" in the campaign banners, and lately the principle behind that idea has motivated me to write about it. We've all been through a lot of ups and downs together, and I know from exprience that sometimes it feels like we're up against overwhelming odds, but we need to remember that we are right! We are fighting for love, for truth, for justice, and for freedom..... for the things that will not die, that won't surrender, and that will not go away quietly into the night. Sometimes I get discouraged and even angry, but it's at those times that I remind myself that the strongest power in the Universe is Love, and that's the team we're playing for. I've seen a lot of amazing things over the last year or so, and it all has served to convince me that yes, we've got a lot of work to do, but the truth, and ultimately Love always wins out. Keep your head up out there... we're doing alright!

~Peace~

"Love's Gonna Win"

Lyrics:

Seems like the devil's workin overtime, and there's
There's no doubt we're living in some dangerous times
Our politicians steal and lie and they
Send our children off to die
The people's minds are full of fear
The preacher's sayin the end is near
Our world's in trouble and that's for sure
But there is a cure

{Chorus}
Love builds the bridges baby, Love won't give in
Love never stops believing, Love's gonna win

Sometimes the road is all uphill but if
We don't walk it then who else will?
It's the struggle that makes you strong, so
Do what you can and keep movin on
Love doesn't fear the darkness, Love's not for sale
Love is the answer, baby, Love never fails

{Chorus}
Love builds the bridges baby, Love won't give in
Love never stops believing, Love's gonna win
Love is the Revolution, love without end
Love is forever, baby, Love's gonna win

Hey Doc!

Glad you have decided to join us! As you can see, there is a LOT going on around here and discussions on every possible subject.

I'm Bill Main. Former Army SGT. and civil servant working at MCB Quantico. I'm a member of Veterans for Peace and active ally of Iraq Veterans Against the War. I live in the IVAW DC chapter house with IVAW DC team members and vets Adam Kokesh, Geoffrey Millard and Nicholas Morgan. We work every day towards turning our little corner of the world into a power house of champions of Liberty and slowing down the march of militarism. If you are a GWOT vet and/or anti-war/occupation get involved. When our troops lay down their weapons and refuse to cross the wire we'll have an end to this mess in Iraq. It's only a matter of time...it worked to end the Vietnam conflict. Support GI resistance and our troops - End the Occupation. It's on us the statesmen and women. The politicians are going to continue to pad their pockets and campaign funds with blood money until We the People put a stop to it.

Peace and Love
