I'm a Christian, but I'm starting to believe that the Christians have hijacked

US foreign policy.

The Israel issue seems to top the list of demands of the neocons, who I would say are disproportionately Christian, maybe to the point of being evangelical. It's almost as if they think they are in the business of "playing God," making sure that they do nothing to offend Israel. I don't believe God appreciates us "helping him out." It's almost laughable, if you think about it.

I must say the Israeli's are sure playing us for suckers.

The CFR has been calling the US "foreign relations" shots for decades now, behind the scenes of course. Can you tell? :D

I am a Christian, and cannot agree more. Most Christians are blind followers of those wanting a theocracy, led be The Huckster.

I think I'd even go so far to say that's one reason the Old Guard don't trust us. They think their prime aim is to protect Israel, and they see us as a bunch of non-churchgoing atheists and agnostics, much inferior to them and their lofty ideals.

But they're missing the blasphemy of it all. Since when does what WE MERE MORTALS do have ANY EFFECT whatsoever on what GOD CAN DO? I do think they overestimate their own importance. It's similar to the Pharisees.

AND, furthermore....

I was thinking that Ron Paul is a true Christian. I believe that one reason he doesn't push and shove and wrangle his way through politics is because he believes that God is in control, and can handle all circumstances. In a way, he allows God to do his work through humans in the best way possible, and that is in an atmosphere of FREEDOM and FREE-WILL, not an atmosphere of MICROMANAGEMENT and COERCION.

I believe it is his Christian faith that keeps him lying low and humble. Ron Paul is a true hero.

I think the Christian evangelicals, for the most part w/some exceptions, have had the wool pulled over their collective eyes. They have been hoodwinked and are mostly blind to the fact that they are following the will of greedy politicians posing as good Christians and not that of their God. WWJD? It's safe to say not the same thing Bush has done...

Exactly. People will use anything to gain power. It's not the religions themselves that are the problem. It's people who speak falsely in their name to evoke public sympathy, when the actual religions teach something completely different. :(

I completely disagree. Christianity has not hijacked politics.
Christianity = Love one another as I have loved you = Do unto others as I have loved you.

In reality neoconism, liberalism and all that is evil has hijacked Christianity.

I'm a Catholic. Many leaders have hijacked religion in the past and used it for their own gain. Actions of certain popes come to mind. They were not following the tenents of christianity, but people blindly followed them believing they would do no wrong.

GW has done the same. He claim to be a Christian yet launched a pre-emptive illegal war, but Christians do not believe a christian president would do wrong as Christians in the middle ages doubted that a pope would do wrong.

As AIPAC goes, there is no bible verse (old or new testament) that compels us to pre-emptively nuke Iran for Isreal's defense, but many christians are blind because GW a "christian" (wolf in sheeps clothing, false prophet, etc etc) says so. As a christian I resent the evil in our nation that kills in Jesus's name. And I resent the chumps who blindly follow. They are no better than muslim terrorists.

To be Christian in the first place one must accept blind faith. Its how all religions work.

The neocons are disproportionately Jewish, not Christian. Elliot Abrams, Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Douglas Feith, Scooter "Libby" Liebowitz, David Wurmser, Bill Kristol, Norman Podhoretz, Charles Krauthammer.

And don't forget the founders: Irving Kristol, Leo Strauss, Leon Trotsky, Karl Marx.......

I think the conversation ends here for most of the Christians as there is nothing to rectify this truth. Once you can be made to accept something blindly about the nature of the universe and your existence, you can be made to believe anything. Christians have hijacked reality...:p

Don't listen to a word neocon "Christians" say , look at what they do.

Do you enjoy bashing others beliefs?

Or do you just enjoy trolling?

It is just plain sad either way.

I was an atheist for 15 years. I thought anything supernatural was a bunch of bull, but I was always searching. I studied atheistic thought, eastern religions, most branches of christianity. Read the bible of different faiths and thought they were silly myths although I respected the philosophy behind them.

I don't want to get in a metaphysical debate, but I basically had a "religious experience," but yes it is a belief, a faith in God. Do doubts arise from time to time, of course, but there is a power in prayer, and if the world truly followed the teachings of the new testament (as well as the constitution) the world would be work a lot smoother, IMO. (I'm not calling for forced conversion.)

In the same way it's wrong when we (RP supporters) are accused of blindly following the constitution. It's wrong to throw that blanket over someone who follows the tenants of Christianity-- or other faiths for that matter. IMO, a blanket statement like that is a form of collectivism.

Christianity was hijacked some 2000 years ago. Paul wrote about this in Galatians . . . "O foolish Galatians . . . WHO has bewitched you?" Cancerously, Judaism crept into the fold.

Here's the litmus test from Gal 4:24-31 - If your religion looks towards the OLD Jerusalem for it's identity, (christianity, Judaism, Islam, etc.) you are in bondage under Hagar the bondwoman.

There's a small group who looks through Sarah, who received The Promise and represents the NEW Jerusalem which is yet to come. These are the true Christians.
