At least 21 people were shot, one of them fatally, at a Juneteenth celebration in gun-controlled Illinois on Sunday morning around 12:30 a.m.

CNN reported the shooting occurred “in a parking lot in Willowbrook, about 21 miles west of Chicago.”

FOX 32 pointed out two of the wounded remain in critical condition.

FOX News noted DuPage County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Eric Swanson indicated that deputies patrolling the area near the parking lot heard the gunshots and responded.

Swanson said, “The motive behind this incident is unclear and this is still an active investigation.”

No information has been released on the number of shooters involved in the incident.

Illinois has a red flag law, an “assault weapons” ban, a “high capacity” magazine ban, a 72-hour waiting period, and a gun owner licensing requirement via the Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card system, among other controls.

At least 20 people were injured and one person has died in a shooting overnight, according to police, in what witnesses say was a Juneteenth celebration turned deadly.

The shooting took place around 12:30 a.m. in a parking lot in Willowbrook, about 21 miles west of Chicago. Witnesses say people were gathered in the area to celebrate Juneteenth.

Some of the injured were transported to hospitals by ambulance and others walked in, DuPage County Deputy Sheriff Eric Swanson told reporters Sunday.

It joins a growing list of celebrations interrupted by gunfire, like the graduation ceremony in Virginia, the NBA championship celebration in Colorado and the birthday party in California, all in the last month.

The incident is now one of 310 mass shootings in the US this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

June 04 is killdozer day , June 05 Oyarde day ,June 14 is flag day and the birthday of the US Army , not sure what holidays fall between 6/15 and now

Considering it was originally about remembering the Greenwood riot, in which hundreds were shot and/or burned out, no. At the time it began that sort of behavior was considered entirely too redneck.

It wasn't until recently that people have been brainwashed in believing that burning their own selves out of house and home was empowering, because it allowed minorities to sample white supremacy.
