IF you were elected president?

Oh no, they would never let me run things.
But if we're wishin'.
I would keep as close as possible to what the president could do legally.
First, hire personal security, a nice bunch of bikers and rednecks.
Bring all troops home and close bases.
Repeal most (if not all) executive orders.
Pardon all non-violent offenders, open cases on many others that may be questionable.
Use the "Bully Pulpit" to educate and inform the public of changes to bring the country back to Constitutional principals.
Re establish the 2nd Amendment and the militia.
Open the "books" and let the secrets be known.
Work to repeal or rewrite trade agreements for Free trade.
Eliminate or defang as many "alphabet agencies" as possible.
Work to move the country away from the socialist direction we have been moving for 80+ years.
That will take the rest of my time.

Ok I wanted to see what everyone had to say.

What I would do first.

1. I would immedietly split Iraq into three nations and order a complete troop withdrawal to be complete in 3 months. I would split all Saddam's money recovered among the three nations and wish them good luck.

2. I would propose a 20% increase in the minimum wage and propose certain additions to the code for the minimum wage allowing those who hire minors and a couple of others to be exempt. I would see this passed through Congress.

3. I would propose a balanced budget addition to the constitution and see it passed through congress. I would make it illegal for any goverment to maintain a balanced budget.

4. I would balance the budget and cut military spending in half, shutting down all overseas bases. I would bring all the military home and have them stay in bases in our cities and build several new ones on the border.

5. I would shut down homeland security. Consolidating TSA and a couple of other agencies directly under the military, militarizing our airport security systems.

5. I would temporarily increase tarrifs on imported items in a attempt to discourage cheap items from China and encourage more factory jobs in the United States.

6. I would get rid of No Child Left Behind and pass a new initiative including several new requirements for states to receive Federal School Funding including allowing Charter Schools and Homeschooling without any requirements; and including voucher systems for private schools. I would increase funding for schools by 25% using some of the new import tarrifs for this.

7. I would creater a Consumers Bill of Rights providing protection to citizens from Credit Card Companies and Mortage Companies.

8. I would launch a investigation of the CEO's of the companies involved in the Mortage scandal and if found guilty of anything illegal I would make them pay for their employees disability fees.

9. I would place a cap on CEO salaries.

10. I would stop all farm subsidies.

11. I would work with Congress to amend the Constitution to state what exactly the goverment exists for and what limits it has. And specifically to make it clearly punitive, to the point where those who disobey are punished; that anything outside those laws are illegal breaches of power.

12. I would also amend the Constitution to add Rights to Education and Healthcare.

13. I would work with the open market, the states, and congress to create a Opt Out Subsidized healthcare service for all Americans.

That's a fun thought. Obviously, Ron would be my VP. I'd probably have to get married to avoid speculations on my sexual orientation. Also, I'd have to be 15 years older, in order to swear an oath to the Constitution as president.

1. Withdraw all troops from Iraq and Afghanistan within a couple weeks. Then bring all trrops home from around the world. Make provisions to close our bases around the world and re-open those at home.

2. Secure the borders and stop welfare for illegal aliens.

3. End the war on drugs. Pardon all minor drug offenses.

4. Stop spending in general. Get rid of DOE and DHS, and other useless bureaucracies.

5. Stop Real ID (if possible. how would this work?)

6. make Bush tax cuts permanent. \

7. end corporate welfare. Abolish the IRS

8. repeal NAFTA, CAFTA, etc.

9. Withdraw from the U.N. (how would this work?)

10. Withdraw from the WTO

11. Legalize competing currencies.

12. Phase out the Fed.

13. Overturn Roe v. Wade (how would this work?)

14. Allow more Nuclear power plants to open/reopen

15. Make government the size of a sugar snap pea. (finalizations)

16. Give tax credits to college students for college tuition.

I LMAO at the post about declare war on switzerland and trade embargo on canada, just for the hell of it. lmao.

While I do agree with many of your rule changes, the ones above are where our viewpoints differ.

I, as president immediately after being inaugurated would make a speech. With the world watching, I would declare my mission. It would go something like this:

1) Closure of ALL foreign military bases as well as withdrawal of all deployed armed forces around the world. This will include carrier battle fleets and nuclear submarines.

2)End ALL federal subsidies. Farming, Oil, College Loans...you get the idea.

3) Make preserving the liberties and freedoms of the American people one of my administration's top priorities. Both personal and economic freedoms. I would pass legislature that would nullify the patriot and attempt to repeal as many of the federal laws hindering American businesses.

4) Free trade with all nations. Entangling alliances with none.

5) Destruction of the Federal Reserve and the income tax.
Ugh ok this list is endless and I'm tired but ya'll get the idea. Pretty much word for word what RP stands for. End the nanny state and let the free market prosper naturally.

Pardon non-violent drug offenders on day 1. Warm up my writing hand, work on my signature, and get ready to veto some legislation. Talk the the military and start implementing a plan to scale troops back over the next month, or otherwise ASAP. I would call for congress to lift all embargoes/sanctions against any nation we currently have them on. I would call up Medvedev, Jintao, Khamenei, Castro, and any other head of government that is supposedly an "enemy" and assure them we see a common future of prosperity, economic integration, trade, and openness. As Bastiat said, where goods do not cross borders, armies will. Then id get to work on finding any and all waste spending to cut, so we can actually start to pay off the deficit, and keep social security solvent until it can be phased out.

Start planning a completely new tax code - one that would eliminate everything that is a tax on any sort of wealth. Would start looking to use taxes as incentives agaist negatives externalities (Pigouvian taxes), so at least anything funding government might have some economic/environmental benefit as well.

I have some more long-term solutions, but these are things id work on in the first 100 days, that i think are crucial. For America to truly prosper in the 21st century, we need more human capital, more openness, more trade, more immigration, less anti-foreign bias. Space exploration and increased scientific research are some of the only things id probably increase spending for.

What about apoint judges who would? Again, how would this work? I know you can't just overturn it. sheesh

Eh the problem is not the judges, the judges are pretty liberal and aren't very unconstitutional; althought someone like Ron Paul would work, most of those judges who would overturn Roe V. Wade aren't very steady constitutionalists. The main problem is the constitution itself.

What needs to be done is scientific research on the beggining of self consciousness. More importantly that needs to be used to argue for a amendment to the constitution.

Say the scientists find out babies aren't self aware to the age of 6 months. Then try to get law passed legalizing the killing of babies up until that age. If that doesn't work then use it a contra-arguement to set up the constitution.

I personally beleive Abortion is wrong after a certain point in pregnancy, but I don't think its wrong at the early points; especially not 2 weeks or 2 months in; but I'd be for banning it afterwards.
