The region that protects our liberties and freedoms the most.

That Russian professor has no idea what he is talking about. The USSR split up, he must be haunted with the failure of communism and wants to see the same happen to the USA.

The northern states are fly-over country. Cold enough to keep the riff-raff out. Plenty of room here; come to visit and spend your money but please don't stay.

Put a pin in the middle of that island in Yellowstone Lake, stretch a line 243 miles from that pin and draw a big circle.

In there.

We have been working very hard on the "Free County Project" here in Minnesota, and recently unveiled a comprehensive "Free Township Project". If you do the same, you can safely stay right where you are.

except for the south (not a warm weather fan) the area that is least populated. Maine or upper-state NY would be nice if the populations would stay low.

Great Lakes.

That's not really in your poll, but I see the area as an ecological utopia with agricultural lands, fresh water, protected trade routes, wilderness, and minimal risks of natural disasters.

Plus, there are great (yet muddied) traditions of private militias, independent musical thought, technological innovation, reciprocity with nature, and multicultural refuge.

I agree with that sentiment.
All of NY isn't good but at least NYC effectively gives money to the rest of the state.
Better roads and plowing aren't bad.

If I lived there, I'd want to be in the area with the highest percentage (preferably entirely comprised) of my co-ethnics who also happen to have the highest percentage of libertarians among them.

A large island in southeast Alaska. Their is plenty of game up their along with a ton of salmon. Fresh water rivers are everywhere. I just need a handful of tools then I'm set.

Anyone ever see that pbs special Alone in the Wilderness? I believe I could do that. not as well as Dick Proenneke but after a few tries I could build a suitable cabin.
