To clarify I'm anti-illegal wars but I love this country and I am grateful for everything it has done for me so I want to do something to repay it somehow should I join or nay

Become active in a local Militia group instead.

I wouldn't. Because the bad guys are using our military to carry out their unconstitutional warmongering. Why would you want to help them do that? To me, it's one thing to fight like all hell, if someone attacks us and against those who did it, but it is quite another to use our folks as cannon fodder for another agenda entirely. An agenda, which is aiding in the destruction of our country.

If you want to repay, do so by helping to return us to constitutional government. :) We just gotta get our country back, damien. While we still have a chance.

Ok, that's my 2 cents.

Obviously, it's a personal choice. Personally, I wouldn't do it.

Ask yourself this question: If you were ordered to do something that you knew was wrong, would you comply with your orders? If the answer is yes, then would you feel guilty about it for a long time to come? And if the answer is no, then be prepared to be belittled and intimidated by your superiors and fellow soldiers.

No easy answer for you I'm afraid. If you decide to enlist, just keep in mind that you will be signing away your right to decide for yourself on whether a conflict is just or not. Anti illegal war or not, you'll be expected to shoot people when ordered, and refusing such orders will land you in very hot water.

no

I personally would not do it. You will be faced with being deployed away from family and friends for years and your life will basically belong to Uncle Sam. Why do all of that for something you do not believe in? There are many ways that you can give back to your country or your community without violating your belief system. Perhaps you could join your local or State police force. We could use some good liberty minded cops on the beat. You could take a look at joining the border patrol. Maybe you could join the Coast Guard and train to be a rescue swimmer or go to college and become a teacher. We need every voice of reason in our school systems that we can get.

More on this later. I've been awake 23 hours and must must crash.

Ordinarily I'd say "yes and hell yes" for a million different reasons, not the least among which is the training which you will find useful in the dark times ahead, and the experience which will put you on a solid foundation for when hot lead starts flying around the US.

Right now though.... things are geting bad. real bad. Disobeying an order you decide is unlawful (but they decide otherwise) could buy you a hell of a lot more than a little 'humiliation,' it could land you in the brig, or worse. I'm divided yea or nay on this one. The USMC (contrary to popular opinion) is probably your safest bet of all the services in the way of refusing to do something that is obviously illegal and not getting in trouble for it. You wouldn't think so from the outside looking in, but Marines tend to be WAY more independant minded than soldiers, sailors, and airmen.

Of the 4 regular branches, you will find more respect for the Constitution in the Marines than anywhere else. There are probably more people of the "Ron Paul mindset" in the Marines than any other branch -- and we are the smallest branch.

Lits of reasons to say yes, lots of reasons to say no.

I gotta hit the sack, more on this later.

Maybe the Air Force instead.

My dad has been in the Air Force for over 20 years and he hasn't been in any wars. He does pretty much office work and gets to live at difference places and has lots of benefits.

Marines, you'll likely go to war. I guess Air Force too, but if you have connections or a specific job that doesn't send you overseas it'd be good to join for at least 5 years.

If you are looking to serve your country in the military but have second thoughts about going to a war zone do your research on all 5 of the branches.

Although it is becoming tougher to get in, unless you are a minority or a female, the Coast Guard is a good option.

Being that I was in the Army for a little more than 8 years I would say join the Air Force. Your living conditions will be 100% better than any of the other branches.

The National Guard has been deployed too. It is hard to stay out of these wars.

But Gunny had some good points. Marines are independant and have high morals even those that raise to general. Some of my favorite generals have been marines.

But marines get deployed to everything. And they get deployed first. Well after special forces. If normal troops go in it is Marines that get deployed.

Personally I would hate being used as cannon fodder. It would make me act up and then I would get in trouble.

If your personal situation demands that you join up maybe you have to do something. But remember Marines are first in, they fight and then get moved to the next fight while the Army takes over day to day stuff.

My dad was Air Force and didnt think it was that bad.

Why do you even ask this question? Of course you should not join. Have you listened to Adam Kokesh the Iraq war veteran? If you want to help this nation then tell more people about 9/11. Tell them to Google WTC7. We need a big blimp that says Google WTC7. Once enough people wake up to the fact 9/11 was an inside job you will have your opportunity to repay this nation by fighting right here, not on the other side of the world against people who have done nothing to us and only want to be left alone.

May sound collectivist, but from my personal experience, other than volunteer firefighters, Marines seem to be the cockiest people on earth. Most of the marines that I've met and known personally, I couldn't stand them because of their badass attitudes and cockiness.

I'm sure there are some good marines out there though. just my 2 cents.
