If I'm Antiwar Should I Join The Marine Corp

I love my country and admire military service to.

Go to college and do ROTC without signing for a scholarship. That way, you'll have a couple of years with no commitment but plenty of training and character building. (but no $, this is what I'm doing)

I'm going to professional school to be a doctor. I want to be a flight surgeon like RP. :)

This is the best idea yet. +1776

Voluntary ROTC is perfect for the situation in a hundred different ways

OK my 2 cents

I was and still am anti-war, even more so now that I know more about how wars are propagated.

I protested with the best and the worst of em in the 60's. I never spat or threw anything at a soldier. I had what I thought of as friends that did. I didn't like that and didn't think it was fair that boys that didn't want to go to war, had to. And then when they came home, damage seen and unseen, people demeaned them and called them baby killers and yes spat on them and threw aweful things at them.

I joined the army as a medic and was proud of what I did. I like to think that I did some good. I told my story to every soldier who came through my ward. I listened if they wanted to talk.

Today, if I had to make the same choice, to join or not under the current conditions, I would choose the Air Force, the Navy and then the Marines, in that order, for many of the same reasons spoken of above. Choose a field that will serve you well when you get out if you can.

It's true that they own you, but you get a lot back. I'd kinda like to think that a few liberty minded souls are among the rank and file if some numb nut decides to sic the troops on us.
