This is the type of story that posters on RPF used to rail against; but because it's an ICE raid, I expect they'll now be making excuses. When it comes to liberty, context is important.

‘We’re citizens!’: Oklahoma City family traumatized after ICE raids home, but they weren’t suspects

Read the article if you want details. I'll summarize
Home raided by ICE
Suspects named on warrant do not live there
Woman and three daughters ordered out of the house in their underwear into the rain while search ensues
Phones, laptops and all their cash cash seized.
Told it may be months before they can get possessions and cash back; but no contact information provided to do so.

The woman is new to the area. Now she doesn't have any money for food or gas. She doesn't have any phones to contact her husband back in Maryland, who was due to come out and join them.

I don't even know what to say anymore.

I used to think that I would never wish anything bad upon anybody. But then, I am also a very firm believer in reaping what you sow. Perhaps when this happens to enough people who advocate this, I hope it hits them hard and good.

Ditto. I’m tired of having my supposed “allies” turn out to be just as big a threat as my mortal enemies.

You'd like to think they'd do surveillance the day before the raid to ensure the people they were looking for were still there. The woman and her daughters had been there for two weeks. How current could the ICE information have been? I guess the family is lucky not to have been sent to an El Salvadoran prison before a court order could be issued to prevent it.

I'm totally against surveillance, unless a valid warrant has been issued. There were/are many way to approach this without violating anybody's rights.

I guess the agents who busted into the home in the middle of the night were lucky they didn't get shot to death.

Nobody has put a decisive stop to this shit so it continues and gets worse. Utterly predictable and some have been warning about it for years.

Until somebody does decisively put a stop to it it will continue longer and get even worse.

Yippee.

Sounds like more Illegal invader ID theft caused this.

Kind of makes it clear why we need to get rid of them all.

My understanding of what I've read is that they did have a valid warrant; it's just that no one on the warrant had been in the house for at least two weeks. That's why I think if you're going to execute a warrant involving a 20 agent platoon with associated firepower, you really ought to ensure that your intel for the operation is complete and up-to-date (meaning you want to be sure the people you're looking for, and not some innocent bystanders, are actually in the house). They were operating off of two-week old intel. That's just outright incompetence.

Do you really think so? Or just for the Republicans running it?

That's the problem in a nutshell. For many folks living an everyday life, they are conditioned to choose one side or the other in the endless game of volleyball, and don't even realize that both teams play for the same masters. Then you have democrats who do vote based upon what they can get [domestic welfare], and republicans who do vote based upon what they can get [corporate welfare]. Which leaves me living among that mess 🫤

And they don't disappoint, do they? We've seen the excusing talking point: "Invader ID Theft" ... which is a really poor excuse for an armed platoon invading the home of a family of US Citizen's, when operating off of two week old intel, and without verifying that the people they were looking for were in the home (and making sure that innocent bystanders were not). And said platoon forcing 4 women in their underwear out into the rain while they tore apart their home and seized their property and cash (which have yet to be returned btw). Incompetence like that starts at the top.

When that excuse is shown to be ineffective, they'll start blaming the victims on the receiving end of the ICE raid, or attacking the victim's character - as if the victims brought this upon themselves.

Yep.

And they will be the first ones to call for Digital REAL ID to "prevent invader ID theft". They don't know it [or maybe they do], but they are in fact the ones advancing the New World Order.
