February 25, 2012, Athens, Georgia – Presidential candidate and former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson pledged Saturday to “continue the Ron Paul Revolution” if the Texas congressman fails to secure the Republican nomination for president.

Johnson’s remarks came at the Georgia State Libertarian Party Convention in Athens, GA. The former New Mexico governor said, “With a fervently big government incumbent president on the Democrat ticket and the Republicans maneuvering to nominate an only-slightly-less-overt big-government candidate, millions of American voters are going to find themselves without a choice in the so-called ‘major’ parties. I don’t agree with Ron Paul on every issue, but his message of individual freedom and truly limited government must not be lost if he does not become the Republican nominee.

“I am seeking the Libertarian nomination to insure that voters in all fifty states do, in fact, have an opportunity to continue the very real revolution Dr. Paul has helped ignite. The vision Ron Paul and I offer is a simple one. It is an end to government that spends too much because it does too much. It is an end to government that borrows too much, mortgaging our future. It is a government that stays out of the bedroom and boardroom. And it is a government that does not lead us into unnecessary wars we simply cannot afford and where our vital national interest is not clear.

"This fight cannot end in August when the Big Government Parties nominate their candidates," said Johnson. " I will pick up the torch of the Libertarian agenda to insure voters have a libertarian choice in November.

“With unimaginable deficits as far as the eye can see, an economy brought to its knees, and Washington prying its way into every aspect of our lives, Americans are ready for revolution, and that revolution needs to happen in the 2012 election.” said the two-term Governor.

Stinks of forcing himself on people.

If you are worthy of the torch, people will naturally come to you.

Gary Johnson can go smoke a pipe dream. Hes a democrat in libertarian clothing. He supported intervention in Uganda...forget him. Oh yeah ,Gary Johnson also wants legislation passed to regulate marriage....some freedom lover he is.

He did a nice job as governor of New Mexico and shrunk the state government so he's got my vote in November.

One of the ways he shrunk the government was privatizing prisons. ISTM, in a corporatist economy, that opens the door for massive injustice. Doesn't a corporate board has a fiduciary duty to increase profits for shareholders? Once the the bean counters have reduced cost per prisoner to the bare minimum, the only way to fulfill their lawful duty seems to be increasing the population...

Gary is pretty good. Would love to see him get a big chunk of the vote if Ron isn't the nominee.

Pandering by Johnson? I'll likely vote for whomever Ron endorses, as long as it's not the Republican nominee.

Guard [to parole-eligible prisoner]: "Sorry, Johnny, looks like the board turned down your application, again. You know how it is: crime's been down, and the company isn't profitable below 90% occupancy. You understand. But, hey, maybe business'll pick up next year. Heck, you've been such a model prisoner, and it was only an ounce; I know the board'll grant your parole -- next time...as long as they can fill your cot....and as long as they can find someone to replace you in the factory...I mean, good help is hard to find, right?"

[as the guard drones on, Johnny wonders how long it would take to hang himself with his prison-issue blanket]

...He would be better than Bob Barr was last time. Barr is supporting Newt Gingrich now, and he may want a comeback to congress as a republican.

I've personally skied with Gary Johnson and he is a smart, intellectual and just down right humble funny guy.

Say whatever you want but until you're hiking up to 12,000 feet with someone who is a presidential candidate...it's an honor no matter what

I'd be happy to vote for Gary Johnson if Ron Paul isn't the nominee. He would actually do the country some good (even if not as good as Ron Paul), as opposed to taking it further down the path of ruin.
