I was just called a sexist and a racist

Again, no one is sacrificing rights. In fact they are re-gaining a lot them that have been eroded.
There is no such thing as a right to an abortion.
The very notion of a right to a good or service is preposterous and a primary reason we are all here.
The adamantly pro-abortion feminists just won't support a candidate that makes the killing more difficult.
Just like the extreme social cons won't support someone who won't enforce federal prohibition on abortion across the board.
Just like people dependent on government checks won't support a candidate that threatens to end them.
If someone on either of these sides does not see the benefit of being able to localize to their preferences, they are probably a lost cause, for the time being.
However, the way I see it, is that they just haven't tasted enough real federal tyranny to come around yet.
Eventually I believe most of them will come around when it gets bad enough.
That all gets into philosophical differences in the abortion topic that aren't really worth discussing. If you believe a small bundle of cells is a child then you're never going to come to an agreement with someone who doesn't.

And if you believe a child a second before birth is less human than a child a second after birth you won't either.
Which is why more localized control is the best solution.

SCOTUS has said that third trimester abortions are not allowed except to save the mother.

random uncalled for video.

somebody should re-dub this video with a random Ron Paul remark. Like 'Do you know who Ron Paul is?' 'he's only the guy who predicted the housing collapse, is fighting for your freedom, and wants to end undeclared wars.' YOU ARE ALL SHEEP!!!

I was bored, so here ya go. :)

Fine then, Replace "birth" with "third trimester." Still an arbitrary distinction.

Absolutely. But understanding that some people, at some point, feel it's 'just a small bundle of cells' is critical to the discussion. Your opponent thinks that defining it at 'conception' is just as arbitrary (from the other direction) - and besides, our laws are full of arbitrary nonsense, like fixed ages for drinking, driving, voting, and military service.

The strongest argument I've come up with is that deciding social issues at the national level is dividing the country and creating significant tension and turmoil. Each side is adamant the other side is stupid and/or evil and/or ignorant, and communication has completely broken down. Abortion is a perfect example of this chasm, but there are other issues which similarly divide. These open wounds can not heal, and the only way we, as a people can possibly come together is if we allow these decisions to be made more locally. Trying to force 300 million socially diverse people to accept the legislation of morality on controversial issues can not, and will not, work... no matter how well intentioned those on each side of each debate are.

when someone is losing.. they will pull the race or discimination card.

i get annoyed with people pulling that card... unless it was blatant racism. my university in california was demonstrating and protesting for affirmative action. the universities in the california school system is predominantly asian (25-50%) and white (25-50%). people were protesting to have more "minorities" get into universities based on their race.

If they called you sexist or racist, just wave back at them and smile. They didn't really do their research and understand that Ron Paul and their supporters are not racist/sexist.. I highly doubt they will listen to you now. Just move on and talk to other people.
