I want the truth.

Good. We've given you explainations. And you still refuse to actually DO ANYTHIGN YOURSELF! Like research the matter, actually learn.

You didn't come here for the truth. You are not a ron paul supporter. You hate freedom and liberty. Please go away. I hope you don't live in the US. You deserve the worst fate imaginable.

I am confused, It sounds as if there is a logical way to fight this smear, why did the campaign just blow it off?

We are all of us a single people under a single flag and a single constitution and we are the greatest peple on the earth and that is what is at stake here. You cant turn coat as soon as something unfortunate happens like this or else the establihsment wins and the status quo remains unchanged!

Now we all got into this because Dr Paul is a good man and we cannot let something so trivial make us thinkg otherwise of him!!

Thes are trying times and we ahve to stand strong in the face of them! not only is it what Ron Paul would want from us but its also what the founding fathre s would want. And even if they dont know it yet its what this country ~our country~ wants and needs! We cant bend and we cant break we have to stand still amidst these accusations and hold our ground because we know that nomatter what he or anyone else said in the past he is the best and the only man for the job!

Now i don't know every inticasy of this whole story but i nkow that until we stop the infighting and stop the insecurety within Dr. Paul's support base we will never get the change we want! Thsi country will accept Dr. Paul for the leader that he is but they will only do it if they can see us in the face of slander and false accusations, and see that we are still strong - one people, unchangeing and resolute!

Please tell me that I am not alone! Please tell me that you will stand with me, and that you will not let this negativty get to you! Dr. Paul is the change that ~I~ can believe in. What about you?

Because there is something to hide. That's why all politicians blow stuff off.

With that said, it seems Rockwell over there has lost all moral authority to counter ANYTHING negative in the future.

Boy, he sure went out to lunch on this one....

Alright, here is my theory.

There have always been people that are willing to believe anything and just love having the holy hell scared out of themselves. I guess it makes life more interesting. Anyhoo...

In the 90's some of the scariest things going were AIDS, New World Order, and black criminals. Remember, that was a time when you could not turn on MTV without seeing a black man waving a pistol around, rapping about murdering police officers all day, everyday.

Realizing there is a whole section of the population that really WANT to believe everything is going to hell in a handbasket, someone (I have my suspicions but won't give names) started pumping out these newsletters using Ron Paul's name recognition. What may have started out as a gag turned into a lucrative business that to a certain extent continues to this day (different name on the "newsletter" though). Aside from his name, Ron Paul really had nothing to do with it, and his cut of the profits was enough that he probably didn't care either. Ron Paul isn't a racist - he is a shameless opportunist, and I can comfortably live with that.

Of course this is all pure speculation.

I don't think Ron Paul is a racist but I think he has sympathies for those views. He wouldn't say the things written in his newsletters but I can imagine him thinking, "that person is right about African Americans being the dominant recipients of welfare and I can understand his frustration about it although I wouldn't express it in the same racially offensive terms."

Sometimes when you live in a politically correct society to the point where you can't say anything racial, even if it's true such as "African Americans commit crime out of proportion to their representation in the population," you might be more open to hearing things expressed by someone that though it might not be 100% what you think, does state some truths" just because it is refreshing change from being under the cloak of PC all the time ...

... And I can imagine someone having done that regretting it later and thinking to themselves, "What am I getting into? I don't like PC but going to the other extreme and being racist is not my thing either ... I had better stop this as I'm going into dangerous territory ..."

This might have been Paul's clandestine way of shaking his fist at the establishment and making his stand for free speech: "Yes, it's racist and offensive but I'm just glad we can say these things without going to jail," and then later changing his mind and realizing things had gone too far.

Unfortunately in this society, you can't use your gut feeling and try to claim it as a fact that Ron Paul has sympathies for racist views.

If its true that African Americans commit crimes disproportionate to their population then its not racism. So even if he did write it so what? Unfortunately its PC to cry racism at the drop of a hat., it`s totally out of control and does nothing but poison race relations.

I am confused, It sounds as if there is a logical way to fight this smear, why did the campaign just blow it off?

Because, addressing the smear, spreads the smear nationally. It was 100% addressed and debunked in his 1996 congressional run. However, it is much easier to stamp out the lies when you only have to cover a single congressional district. If he fought this on the national airways and media, far more people would be like luckystars here, and never accept the truth when it is right in front of their faces. Ron Paul WILL NOT BE ALLOWED the airtime to properly address this with the facts. His enemies are far too great. In true Ron Paul fashion, he wants the people to find out for themselves. Not accept the media as 100% truth. Unfortunately many people CHOOSE to be ignorant.

I'm done you're a troll.

Which is why he addressed it completely in 1996? Maybe this country really isn't ready for Ron Paul...

Because some random person who's sole intention is to keep being negative? The fact that this person is actually taking time out of his/her day to come here and rally against Paul incognito is proof that the country IS ready for Ron Paul, and it is scaring those who aren't ready.

Hazza!

My biggest problem with the whole thing (aside from the fact that even more people will now associate libertarianism with racism) is that a few months ago, I was under the impression that it was one or two ghost written articles, but it appears that the writing went on for a year or two. I don't think Ron Paul wrote the pieces, and I don't think he's a racist. That being said, he absolutely is responsible for them, and should damn well have dealt with this in a straightforward manner weeks ago. I don't give a rat's ass how many times he's answered these questions before, this is the White House we're trying to make a sincere effort at winning, this movement is FAR bigger than he is, and not stepping up to the plate is tantamount to not giving a shit, IMO. Couple this with the weaknesses of the official campaign, the focus on secondary and even fringe issues as opposed to the big two - civil liberties and the war, and long story short, it simply shows that Ron Paul isn't interested in winning, and that lets all of us down. Will I still vote for him? Probably. But I'll be holding my nose while I do it, just like I have every other time I've pulled the lever for the last 16 years.

This about sums up where I am right now too. QFT
