I voted for the first time today. This is what I saw...

One has to wonder if this Obama resurgence in the MSM was decided upon by the PTB (powers that be) for the express purpose of taking votes from DRP?

Maybe that is why Hillary is so bummed out and almost in tears, she knows the PTB have decided against her in favor of Obama since he was the only one that could take the (sheeple) independent vote. And those are votes that won't go to Ron Paul.

Anyone that thinks this 'election' miniseries isn't totally scripted......

I have witnessed it personally. People I work with that are not 'awake' are following the script perfectly! First I heard "I kinda like that Fred Thompson" then it was "that Huckabee seems like he's okay" and NOW it's "McCain" (!!)

The MSM leads and the sheeple follow, so of course now the sheeple are following Obama... the MSM is telling them to!

We are in so much trouble in this country.

I think this is spot-on.

I was just thinking that. What happened to all those entrance polls?? (there was none at my polling place)

Anyone else find it odd that the networks are silent on the "projected outcomes"? In Iowa they were predicting the winners 15 minutes BEFORE the polls opened, now it's almost half over and nothing.

That's not like them.

OK folks, should I scream, or just cry?

GOTV? Please?

Would it help if I GOT ON MY FRAKKIN KNEES AND BEGGED?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?

I'm in NH too. Just got back from poll checking for the morning shift. I saw the same things actually. This is not negativity, it's reality.

Obama has been attracting crowds of 2000 - 3000 several times a day for the last 3 - 4 days.

People are so weary of old white republicans, they are looking for the complete oppposite now. And they have found it in Obama (they have that perception anyway). Plus Obama is running a much smarter, more organized campaign than Paul here in NH.

I'm deepy saddened, but this is what is happening in NH. :( :( :(

that sounds about right. why does everyone sound so shocked that old people showed up to vote? they look forward to anything besides bingo and coffee at McDonald's. they can shut up when they don't get their damned SS checks, though!

That's not true.

Younger people have "cared to unprecedented levels" in every campaign going back to Kennedy.

They just don't VOTE. Now, if they'll vote in this one remains to be seen.

I always have. The day I hit 18 I registered to vote. This is only my second presidential election.

The old people show up to vote because, be it WWII, or Vietnam, or what not, many older people KNOW someone, were married to someone, or ARE someone who fought or died for this country when it REALLY seemed like the evil of the world was going to destroy us.

That's why the old people show up to vote, because for many of them, they paid for the right to vote in blood. They consider it a civic duty. And it should be.

It's their right to vote. It's their duty to inform themselves about politics and vote for what they think is best for their country, if they decide to vote. Don't conflate the two.

I think if you don't vote in this country, you should lose your citizenship. We do not have many requirements to be a citizen here, but one of our civic duties is to vote. Another is to serve on juries.

I disagree completely. The Constitution does not give the government any power to force its citizens to vote, and such an amendment would be antithetical to the rest of that document. I know plenty of people who are completely apathetic about our government and who spend their time following the news about Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. That's sad to me, but what is more sad is when these people are somehow convinced that they have a duty to vote even though they don't know a thing about politics and have no informed opinions about the candidates.

If you're an American, then no-one should force you to educate yourself on history, science and politics. However, a modicum of knowledge in each of these subjects is necessary in order for you to be an informed voter. If you know that you are ignorant and either can't or won't change, then you should do the honorable thing by abstaining from voting. Leave voting to those citizens who care about the governance of the country and who will spend their own time to research the candidates.

There are many people in this country who are apathetic about politics and hence easily fooled by political rhetoric. Do you really want a law that will require all of them to vote? Talk about handing even more power to the mass media!

If people in this country were inculcated with the notion that it was their duty not to vote unless they had researched the candidates and issues and come to a well-founded conclusion (rather than the notion that everyone should just show up and make a snap decision at the polls), then people would take voting much more seriously. Plus, we'd be winning.

You talk about the constitution a lot here.. but you forget that the Constitution starts out with "We the PEOPLE."

I don't think that anyone here has forgotten the Constitution. I hope that those people who vote know what is is, and why it was written. If they don't, then I hope they will do the responsible thing and not fuck up our country by voting.

Yes, and me too.

And then when push comes to shove and the numbers to come out, 18-24 is the worst demographic when it comes to voting.

Every time.

(Oh, the me too on the getting it at 18 :) Not so much on the second election :P)

It's probably best if you log off the forums and started banging on doors, so that Gunny doesn't have a nervous breakdown.

fcofer I absolutely agree. Voting isn't a civic duty unless you are educated enough to vote wisely, otherwise it is a civic disservice. With all these stupid "vote or die" and other ridiculous ideas floating around its no wonder we have been getting incompetent statesmen.

ROFLOL thanks! Geemuny crickets! If RP is really that important to us, then we really do need to be doing the one thing that history shows is the absolute-most powerful thing to bump our voteshare.

New Hampshire is a semi-open state.

A vote for Obama is a vote against ALL the republicans, Paul included.

Yes, but wouldn't it be great to have McCain out of the race? Then the media will have to go back to sucking up to Giuliani, and look how that turned out. If Thompson goes out soon, too, look who's left beside Ron -- Giuliani, Romney, and Huckabee. Giuliani's and Huckabee's skeletons will come out, and we can beat Romney.

Great job its time...

If supporters would spend as much energy out canvassing as they do looking at who to blame for this or that....wed probably have this election in the bag...lol

Sheesh...

Okay.. follow me on this one.

A vote for Obama is NOT a vote for ron paul, or john mccain, or anyone republican.

The republicans are not voting for Paul in large numbers. You need independants. An independant going for Barack Obama is BAD for us.. not good. It doesn't "remove McCain" anymore than a vote for Dennis Kucinich would.

Independants going for Paul = Good.

Independants going for anyone else = A vote AWAY from Dr. Paul.

You forget, if McCain goes out of the race, it is good for us.. but if we're in even a lower place than McCain, it's BAD.
