I think Ron Paul is about to announce NEXT WEEK!

Hope your "Start preparing, Ron Paul WILL run for President in 2012!!!" thread is not as inaccurate as this one turned out to be.
Don't you mean "more accurate"?

But anyway, remember though, this thread was created before I knew about the Tuscon shooting.

My guess is he'll announce the first week in February.
This makes the most sense. If he announces at CPAC then he has no advantage in the straw poll. If he waits until after CPAC then the results of the straw poll will get tied to his announcement (why take that risk?). But if he announces before CPAC then he can get a huge turn out. Feb 1 is when the CFL stops paying out referral money too.

That's because it was Herman Cain.

give the collins a break. We called Ron Paul 2012 like 6 months ago!! The gop is F.U.C.K.ED if Ron Paul doesn't run and win the gop nomination!! I give Gary johnson a small chance depending on Ron Paul but the bottom line is there is no one else worthy of my support in the gop other then Ron Paul or possibly gary johnson after that its 3rd party!! If the gop cannot nominate Ron Paul 2012, then i suspect the gop might be the titanic with no hope!! ps the fact is the gop has a very short list to support in 2012!! sooner or later a dead dog(gop) should be put down, especially if the dog(gop) cannot be saved!!

I think CPAC should be the beginning of the grassroots campaign for Ron Paul 2012, even if he doesn't announce then.
And if he wins the poll, he should announce there that he will be running for president. If he loses, he won't lose by that much- and he should announce a bit after.

+1

Someone told me they were on a conference call with Ron tonight (not sure about what?) and that he said he still hasn't made up his mind yet, but he will within the next week or two.

Someone Ron would be candid with?

I just had a chance to listen to the call. Ron said he still hasn't made up his mind, saying he sees the advantages but also sees the downsides. He specifically mentions his responsibilities of chairing the subcommittee. He said "I'm still at that place where I'm undecided; I'm not convinced the support is there." Regarding the timing of an announcement, Ron actually says:

"But I'm gonna keep thinking about it, but I'm not on the verge of making a decision in the next week or so. I'm gonna have to think about it for a few more weeks."

I'm walking away from this convinced that we absolutely have to win CPAC in order to convince Ron to run.

EDIT: This call was for members of Campaign for Liberty's Patriot Club.

Sure sounds like that to me.

Hey, thanks for the update. Your memory is a lot better than mine.

Are you SURE that he said "I'm not on the verge of making a decision in the next week or so"?? I didn't hear the word "not" but I was driving around putting up signs in a district for a special election locally so it's entirely possibly that I simply and honestly misheard him.

Yeah, I had to double check, but he did. It is possible he misspoke, you know how that goes. Of course anything could happen and we might see him announce before CPAC still.

One thing is clear, we have to show him that the support is indeed there! Everyone, make sure you get to CPAC and bring your friends and family with you. We do not want another SRLC on our hands; the stakes are much higher this year!

P.S.
He's no longer "Senator-Elect Rand Paul" ;)
