I just changed my voter registration in solace with the Ron Paul delegates

I want to keep my Republican status so that when they crunch the numbers after the election there will be a greater spread between the number of registered Republicans and the number of people voting Republican. Part of the pay back.

Bingo.

I am registering my discontent by changing my affiliation when I get a new license in October. The GOP cannot count me as one of their number. If there is a 10% reduction in their roll by November it is my hope they will understand why it is they lost the election.

Don't wait until then. Most times it's a quick process by visiting the website of the Secretary of State for the State in which you live. It took me like 2 minutes.

Yes, he did....but I think for myself. Here's my take on it: Ron Paul is right about so much, he's almost perfect. I guess it's only natural that he has to be wrong about something, and (in my opinion) I believe he's wrong about this. As much as I respect him about 99.9% of everything else, I have to disagree with him about this.

sort of his 'Monkey's Paw'?

Well you can do your own thing, and Ron said THAT Sunday, too. But I suspect if Ron gets a project going that involves the GOP, a lot of people who wouldn't other wise join it might just because it is Ron's project.

Good point, but they will also notice that the number of registered Republicans is dropping all of a sudden, and I'm sure they will be able to figure out why given the timing.

Now that primary/caucus season is over, there is absolutely NO reason to remain in the political party. You can vote for whomever you want when voting day comes along.

But for now, leave the party. Send a message that you do not want to be associated with the GOP brand after their cheating and rules changes which have taken away your voice.

Should another candidate come along in the next 4 or 8 years who is worth voting for in the primary/caucus season -- then change your affiliation back again and support that person.

I have just changed my party affiliation from Republican to Libertarian in solace with those Ron Paul delegates who had their positions and voices stripped.

The GOP has disrespected the members who are the most ardent and vocal and its apparent that our votes and our presence is not welcome.

I have no interest in aligning myself with a corrupt party filled with crooks, thieves and those who are more concerned with an (R) in front of the persons name than they are about the future direction of this country. I for-one have no interest in associating myself with such a group.

I have changed my voter registration in solace with those Ron Paul delegates who are surely feeling a bit demoralized at the moment.

I challenge everyone here to visit your local Secretary of State website and attempt to change your voter registration online. The process only takes a minute and will send a loud and clear message to party big-wigs about the direction they have taken the party.

The GOP is dead. Join me in the mass exodus!

I hear you but I recently re_registered to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries.

I think I'll put it off until after the elections to make sure I'll be able to vote. Besides I'm thinking they may be busy now.

It has crossed my mind a number of times though.

Congratulations on your act for freedom adam1mc. I do plan to follow you soon.

Yeah, it's six of one, half dozen of the other. They will add the party shrinkage to the "no shows" and Gary Johnson votes for the purposes of analyzing the landslide Obama victory.

Staying in the GOP gives credibility to their illegal and unethical actions. How can you live with yourself knowing that your membership in the party of Bush and Romney is helping to keep the two party machine chugging along? Register LP or independent if you have any sort of conscience.

I'll give you one good reason why this is a bad idea. If you're a registered republican (or democrat for that matter) you don't have to vote for the establishment party hack. But if you're in a closed primary state (I am) it gives me the opportunity to vote for a liberty candidate if they appear on the ballot (primary or general.) At the same time, I can vote for any independent or third party candidate if I so choose.

If it "floats your boat" to have the inability to cast a vote for a liberty candidate in the primary (whether it's Amash, Rand, Bills, or anyone else) that's your call. I don't think it does anything, but do whatever you want.

Personally, I like having the opportunity to support a liberty candidate if they run on the republican ticket. It's more support for liberty. I can help them beat out a neocon for the spot, and you have a MUCH greater chance of getting a liberty candidate in office THAT way than voting for the LP nominee against the Neocon candidate in the general. When was the last time a LP nominee beat someone from the two major parties (in a relevant race.) Never?....

Anyone got a link to change party affiliation online in Florida? Saw one and had to fill out a form and print...

Anyway, I'd rather be part of a growing Libertarian party that can make a difference in 50-70 years if thats what it'll take than to stay in the corrupt GOP. Sorry, but like others have said, making a change in the GOP is futile. The only thing that can change my mind is Rand being the republican nominee in 2016 if Romney loses, and even then I'm not sure that the GOP wouldn't try to sabotage Rand.

So it's either Libertarian or No-Affiliation for me. Not sure right now.

Read my above post. Aside from the fact you could knock out the neocons in their OWN PRIMARY before they even make it to the general, the LP hasn't been growing or accomplishing anything for years now.

I much prefer preventing a neocon from making it TO the general than voting AGAINST them in the general.

I'm pretty sure Ron Paul ran as Libertarian in 1988 due solely to the B.S. that the National GOP was doing....

???

From the wiki:

He joined the third party after leaving the Republican Party over the Reagan administration's handling of the federal budget.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Paul_presidential_campaign,_1988

If you don't know why he ran, how can you learn what he learned?

I am not saying that 3rd parties will always be a waste. One day, I hope a third party replaces the GOP or Democrats or maybe we get a different proportional representation such that you vote for as many reps as your state has (a system by which maybe third parties and independent reps might have more hope ).

You take over the GOP because it is an easier task than the general election. I like what the LP does and fully support their efforts. I am also 100% behind a libertarian take-over of the GOP. Question: how is it that some L/libertarians want people to turn tail and run?

Well with the rule change that kinda makes becoming a delegate irrelevant doesn't it?You know they won't run a candidate like Paul in the future so I'm wondering what the benefits are for staying in the party.

OP - don't worry about what others think on these forums. Just do your own thing, because you'll be more effective that way.

it's gonna take all kinds on all fronts.

Different dynamics for different places.

The Democrats are dead in my county. We usually have two establishment R's running political theater against one another clear until the General (Washington is a top two state). So, I am working to make the Libertarian Party or Constitution Party the new viable opposition party since the D's can't hack it anymore.
