I just changed my voter registration in solace with the Ron Paul delegates

This doesn't help. The LP is a dead party. We are making great inroads into the GOP. Don't let them scare you off so easily.

^^ This.

Quitting now, is giving them exactly what they wanted.

The entire point is to drive us from the party. So congratulations on letting the GOP win.

Ignorance makes the job easier for the powers that be. They don't want you to be informed and engaged.

sorry but ur wrong ... it's GOP or waste your time ... do what the doctor ordered and read a few of Ron's books until ur thinking straight

Instead of building a new viable alternative from the ground up, if the GOP always takes the seat in your county, why not just get someone to undercut the other candidates running and, with strong support, take the primary and lock up the general election?

Much easier than making the third party viable, you have access to the entire republican voting block (remember, they vote by party and not by principle. A third party is no help there,) and all you have to do is run a pretty good campaign as a republican.

Different dynamics for different places.

The Democrats are dead in my county. We usually have two establishment R's running political theater against one another clear until the General (Washington is a top two state). So, I am working to make the Libertarian Party or Constitution Party the new viable opposition party since the D's can't hack it anymore.

cajuncocoa Thread: I just changed my voter...

stop being a GOP shill

How am I being a "GOP shill"?

I hate those motherfuckers more so than the clueless bozos around here who never read Sun Tzu.

Shill - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A shill, plant, or stooge is a person who publicly helps a person or organization without disclosing that he has a close relationship with that person or organization.

I will be voting for Gary Johnson and every other Libertarian/Constitution Party candidate I can find.

In no way does that detract from a goal to take over a major political party. You might as well suggest people abandon the US. The GOP/Democrats control the USA. Getting control of them is the key to getting good candidates in the general election. Having good LP candidates is great too. The more choices, the better.

His rally had a huge, corny "republiCAN" sign behind him.

I really don't get the disconnect on what he suggests would be the best course to take.

He encouraged everyone to get involved in their local GOP in 2008 too. If we would have taken his advice then, perhaps it would of been our people making sure the votes were all counted in Iowa.

cajuncocoa came into my thread before and trolled as well. Don't pay attention to him.

???
If you don't know why he ran, how can you learn what he learned?

Exactly.

adam1mc, when I read your post, I thought about the famous letter that began

As a lifelong Republican, it saddens me to have to write this letter.

and ended

I conclude that one must look to other avenues if a successful effort is ever to be achieved in reversing America's direction. I therefore resign my membership in the Republican Party and enclose my membership card.

Remember that?

The fact is that Dr Paul knows how you feel. So do I. So do most of us here.

Dr. Paul came back to the Republican Party. If he had stayed in the Libertarian Party, I'm pretty sure I never would have heard of him.

In fact, I probably never would have heard of Blowback.

;)

Now, just calm down, relax, forget about politics for a few weeks . . .

and then go and register as a Republican again.

I read at lunch someone said they switched because the ballot would have a place to write in Ron Paul. Don't all of them?

Maybe I just took it wrong or read more into the post than was there.

Congraulations to becoming irrevelant to the GOP.

They could not have hoped for a better outcome.

No kidding. The OP followed through with the precise action the RNC was trying to provoke in the first place...and they want this because it benefits them.

Protip: The delegates didn't change their registration. You should just say your real reason: It makes you feel better, personally.

I'll take the discomfort of wearing a party label any day over rendering myself completely meaningless in the political process.

the option "i do not wish to enroll in a party" will that unregister me from the system?

They spent millions of dollars, hundreds of hours, broke rules (and bones) to keep us out. Why would we give them exactly what they want by leaving?

You are wise beyond your years and Ron Paul would agree with you.

I'm getting a laugh out of all of you that thinks the GOP wants us to LEAVE... Yea right! They want us to stay in the fold and throw us little bones so we'll be obedient little followers. Even Newt thinks 90% of us will fall in line and all of you that will vote for Mitt or stay Republican this year are falling for their bait. I'm registering Libertarian and voting GJ, the rest of you sheeple can fall in line and get absorbed by the disgusting GOP, NOT the other way around.

It is incredibly easy to switch back to Republican so if a liberty candidate does come back on the scene, I will be right there voting for them, but for now, I'd be much happier seeing the #'s for registered Republicans take a nosedive. The rest of you (probably Neo-Cons and So-Cons) can go along to get along. Like someone said, the GOP isn't a church or temple to pledge my allegiance to. They have to EARN my support, and with what happened this week, I'll say good luck to them, I'm voting for the real liberty candidate while the rest of you can vote for Mittens and be led to your slaughter.

I didn't have to register Republican to vote, but I sure as hell wouldn't piss off just yet if I had. I very much like the idea of hijacking the party and annoying the heck out of people who look at me like I'm an alien :)

I wasn't aware of such a notion existing. I've been gone for awhile, but can't imagine this is the new consensus around here! lol

So what else will these registered republicans do now, abstain from voting (Read: not doing a DAMN thing)? Why stay Republican if you're just going to be a meek observer?
