I just changed my voter registration in solace with the Ron Paul delegates

I have just changed my party affiliation from Republican to Libertarian in solace with those Ron Paul delegates who had their positions and voices stripped.

The GOP has disrespected the members who are the most ardent and vocal and its apparent that our votes and our presence is not welcome.

I have no interest in aligning myself with a corrupt party filled with crooks, thieves and those who are more concerned with an (R) in front of the persons name than they are about the future direction of this country. I for-one have no interest in associating myself with such a group.

I have changed my voter registration in solace with those Ron Paul delegates who are surely feeling a bit demoralized at the moment.

I challenge everyone here to visit your local Secretary of State website and attempt to change your voter registration online. The process only takes a minute and will send a loud and clear message to party big-wigs about the direction they have taken the party.

The GOP is dead. Join me in the mass exodus!

They spent millions of dollars, hundreds of hours, broke rules (and bones) to keep us out. Why would we give them exactly what they want by leaving?

Believe me, I feel exactly as you do. But I hope you'll reconsider when the emotion fades. I'm not at all encouraging anyone to vote for Romney. But we took 7+ states this time... it's time to push forward and take more ground. Starting in our neighborhoods.

I'm so tempted but I understand what everyone else is saying. I'm close to leaving and then maybe coming back if there is someone in a primary worth voting for.

Exactly. Because political parties are not churches or fraternities - You do not pledge your life to them. They are tools to leverage your power in Government. That's it.

That was taught to us by our 2008 Ron Paul coordinator when they were conveniencing everyone to switch their party affiliation to Republican in order to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries.

Many people switched to Republican for the sole purpose of supporting Ron Paul. They did this to leverage their power in Government (because you can't vote for people in different parties) and not to toe the GOP line (as many here appear to be doing).

I have no issues switching parties for now and if someone comes along that is worth switching for again - then so be it.

Nothing will send a clearer message to the GOP than a mass exodus of members (and subsequently their energy and money) who attribute the movement to nothing more than the behavior of the GOP and their rule changes at this years convention.

Despite the libertarian feel of Nevada politics, the Libertarian Party of Nevada has yet to reap the reward of the wave of Nevada libertarianism.

Since 2004, Libertarian voter registration has hovered between the 6,000 and 7,000. The party made a big jump early in the decade, going from 4,700 active voters in 2000 to almost 6,300 in 2004. Its high-water mark came in 2011, with more than 7,000 registered voters.

As alternatives to Democrats and Republicans, the Libertarians are massively overshadowed by the Independent American Party, which currently has 49,578 active registered voters in Nevada compared to the Libertarians’ 6,858.

here’s a Libertarian envy of the IAP in Nevada, perhaps because the conservative IAP is the dominant third party. The IAP, especially strong in rural Nevada, is a conservative group that stresses strong family values, the Constitution and patriotism.

Some Libertarians contend people unknowingly register with the IAP, thinking they are registering as an independent or nonpartisan voter.

Other Libertarians, however, respect the IAP, saying that the Libertarians could learn a lot from Nevada’s largest third party.

“I don’t agree with their politics, and that is why I am a Libertarian,” said David Colborne of Reno. “But I do think that the Libertarian Party of Nevada could learn a few tricks from them. And, hopefully, as we do so, we’ll be in a place in the future where they can learn a few tricks from us.”

Libertarians aren't even the largest 3rd party in perhaps the most friendly of libertarian states.

Yea... we're going to defeat the GOP over there... Right...

But let's say we do, then what? We watch the Democrats win every election from here until kingdom come?

The LP is a joke, and as much as the GOP sucks and is filled with simply terrible people we can't just leave because we hate them.

If you truly hate them you'll stay, and drive those bastards out.

Agreed. Everyone nowadays wants to run. We need to be stronger.

I agree with this. Even if I technically left the party I wouldn't necessarily join the LP. I would just save my conscience until getting involved made sense or voting for someone made sense. I'm undecided, however its more difficult in my state to change so I probably wont (I have to print out a physical form and mail it).
