I spoke to a wonderfully polite young woman..

I asked her if it was true that Harry Reid had planned to not allow the audit the fed bill on the floor of the Senate.. And she told me that he has made no such official announcement.

I told her that was good, because I know he has been a long time supporter of auditing the fed and she said yes that was true.

I asked her if there was any timeline for Senator to make any official announcement and she said that there was not.

And that was pretty much the conversation.

I just wanted to know if anybody out there has any info theyd like to share. Or if anybody has called Reid's office and gotten anything different?

This is the second video I've seen of Harry Reid saying how desperately the Fed needs to be audited. Don't know why, but I suspect he doesn't think it is all that important anymore. Probably why he doesn't think the Patriot Act is an "abomination" anymore.

that is very interesting, because if so it means they are either back tracking under pressure or they never meant it to be that blatantly said to begin with.

I will call Monday and compare my experience.

I contacted both of my own Senators. One has gotten back to me so far (Jay Rockefeller). Here was his reply:

Thank you for contacting me about auditing the Federal Reserve. It is always good to hear from a fellow West Virginian, and I appreciate this opportunity to be in touch.

During the debate on the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (H.R. 4173), I supported an amendment to require an audit of the Federal Reserve's emergency lending programs. When the Senate and House negotiated a compromise between their respective versions of the bill, the Federal Reserve audit was expanded in scope to include an audit of other assistance that the Federal Reserve provided during the financial crisis. This audit was completed in July, and can be reviewed at http://www.gao.gov/new.items/d11696.pdf.

Additionally, on January 26, 2011, Senators Rand Paul of Kentucky, Jim DeMint of South Carolina, and David Vitter of Louisiana introduced the Federal Reserve Transparency Act (S. 202). This legislation would require a full audit of the Federal Reserve system by the end of 2012. S. 202 has been referred to the Senate Banking Committee, of which I am not a member. No further action has been taken on S. 202, but rest assured I will keep your thoughts in mind should this bill come before the full Senate for debate.

Thank you again for being in touch. I wish you the very best.

With Warm Regards,

Jay Rockefeller

So I feel like he'll support it if it comes to the floor.

My democratic senator said he would support the audit of the fed when I asked him at Boys State

They might be caving to social pressure.

Because..where did the "VOW" statement come from if it didn't come from Reid's mouth?

Seems to me that his opposition in the past may have been because interest rates were higher than he liked. From what I have heard of him speaking on the subject he was upset with the raising of interest rates at the time.

Now we are talking virtually free money, he is happy. Typical.

That's my interpretation anyway, happy to be corrected.

Can we call/get through on weekends?

Their DC offices are closed on weekends so if you call, you will reach a voicemail, which is most likely full based on what other Ron Paul supporters are saying.

If you live in Nevada, please call when their offices are open and let them know you are a constituent before leaving your comment.

This will be a "gut and stuff" action where they will totally gut it and include some limp dick BS that will not be an audit, They will NEVER allow an audit and even if you wanted to audit them they have all the info and how would you even know what they give you is accurate or not?? (without being able to corroborate that info with another Central Bank?? LOL this will go nowhere.

My guess (no insider knowledge here) is that Rand will either attach it to a bill likely to pass as an amendment and force people to vote on it; or only attach it as an amendment when in a friendly crowd. OR, Rand may try some procedural manuver to bring it to the floor at a random time when no one expects it. He's cunning like that ;)

Can this bill be brought to the floor "under suspension of rules" or similar like what they did in the house for up/down vote disallowing amendments?

I don't think one gets to be majority leader in the senate without being a tool for the banking establishment and military contractors. So Reid tells people when he's up for election that he wants this or that, but then falls in line with what "they" want when it's showtime.

Cornyn on board, wow. Now to see if Hutchinson will join in. I could see Perry encouraging them though since he talked about auditing the fed during his campaign speeches.

McCain is one of my Senators and surprisingly is a cosponsor. I still have the letter from Senator Kyl blowing me off for the last audit, I doubt he will be any help this time either.

Tip of the hat to Perry for getting on board the audit train. I think he really does see the problem with the Fed. It may be the only thing he has right.

If anyone lives in SD or AL, call your Senators because they're on the Senate Banking Committee.
