Hey all,

So I realized today that one of the best ways to help your friends and family become blue democrats is to literally print and fill out the voter registration form for them and have them sign. Then proceed to the mailbox and mail it for them (and pay for the postage as an added bonus). Today I'm mailing in three and hope to get more soon. My fiance just switched parties for me!

I think the liberal/progressive alliance with libertarians is really valuable - lets keep pushing for this. People are fed up with the war and destruction of civil liberties.

Keep fighting the good fight! And remember that some states have early deadlines for registration.

Florida:
"All party changes must be made by the end of the 29th day before the primary election. For a general election, a party change can be made at any time by contacting the Supervisor of Elections’ office."

So Florida voters need to join the Republican Party by December 29.

Don't even put that date out there. People need to do it *now.* The form is absurdly simple.

It's a half sheet of paper. You can print out multiple copies to hand out, have pre-addressed envelopes, and hand them the accompanying information sheet. You can hand them some information about Ron with it, but your main goal at that point should be to get them to register GOP.

Your secondary effort might also be to see if you can collect their email or phone number to send them a gentle reminder to vote whenever Florida decides it's going to have that primary :p

Please link to a PDF that people can print out! Great idea! In fact, such a link to that form should be sticky'd on the home page of this website.

General information about registration requirements. This should be part of your "talk" with people about registering to vote.

Not sure you are registered? Check here:

The registration form itself. I printed mine on colored paper fwiw, and as long as it is obviously legible they seem to be okay with it. Bright yellow works very well (Gadsen yellow, to be exact).

Incidental stuff. This includes your rights as a voter. I would not print this out because it is a toner/ink hog, plus it is too long to hand out really, but the information is important.

Great idea! Did you know that the deadline to switch parties in NY is October 14? If you have other friends in NY, make sure they are all registered Republican by October 14 or they will not be able to vote in the primary.

+1 Rep, thanks for doing this!

Blue Republicans have a great post about this on facebook -- I shared the blue republican post as a private message to 10 of my friends in NY with the message

"You might not agree with all of Ron Paul's libertarian platform, but I hope you can agree he is the best choice of the candidates seeking the republican nomination to face Obama in the general election. In NY, If you are currently registered as Dem or Indy, party affiliation changes must be completed by Oct. 14th in order to vote for him to be the republican nominee on April 24th. If you are registered Dem or Indy, please consider changing your party affiliation(temporarily), and voting for Ron Paul as a personal favor to me."

I also posted that publicly to a friend who we post back and forth on each others wall occasionally.. Share it how you feel most comfortable with each friend!

That's exactly what I did last month. I took it a step futher and stamped and addressed the envelopes. Heck, I even told them to fill out the form and give it back to me and I'd mail it. I work at a prison and mostly all were co-workers. The cool thing was I had some contacting me asking for the form. It went over very well. Probably around 2 dozen. Most were not registered voters and a few were indies. No Dems.
