I called the cops on a guy (possibly) taking pics of me today

So I'm sitting in my car, in the parking lot of the local small town library today, using their wifi so that I could check out good ole' RPF's.

There is a car parked next to me, and some grungy dude is sitting inside of it.

I keep hearing the sound that an iphone makes when it snaps a photo, and when I look over, the guy has the outside camera on his iphone aimed right at me.

I feel quite perturbed at this point.

I am not completely sure if it is some misunderstanding or not, and I decide to deal with it by turning to my side so that I can record the guy with my computer video camera.

I don't really catch him doing anything aside from looking over at me for a moment.

I end up getting out of my car and asking the guy if he is taking pictures of me.

I see that he has burn scars all over his face.

The guy says he's not taking any photos, that he's online with his girlfriend, and tells me that I can look at his camera roll, which he has open.

I ask him why his phone has been making the camera sound if he has not been taking any photos.

He offers no explanation, and I end up telling him that I don't believe him, and that he can leave or I am going to call the cops.

He tells me that he will do the same and report me for videotaping him, which apparently he had noticed.

He leaves abruptly, and I call the police to report the whole incident, along with his license plate number.

Discuss.

Sounds like he was a lonely guy... Really lonely.

Maybe you should have mooned him up close and personal.

c-mon man even I can hustle $20 month for internet to avoid the library hassle I mean what the hell do you expect sitting in a library parking lot looking down at your lap?

yeah, they really aren't nearly a photogenic as cats.

I disagree. Dogs are very photogenic. They have very expressive faces and are furry. They like to swim and frolic and play and nice stuff. Sometimes they roll on the floor. They like to lick your face and play ball and are happy all the time.
Cat's are assholes.

See something say something. Janet approves.

If the guy had been their coincidentally it is unlikely he would have been so eager to offer you a browse of his phone. Me thinks he protest too much. The degree of malice is what you want to establish.

I feel the world is now a safer place. Maybe Homeland Security can be stationed at all Libraries for our protection.
Thanks for doing your part!

You mean this?

Interesting. How did this make you feeeeel?

Annoyed mostly, but the whole thing is also kind of funny I suppose. I also feel interested in seeing what kind of discussion this will generate here.

I hope you don't own any dogs...

I currently take care of two mixed-breed pit-bulls. They are both about 1 year old. They freak out when I leave the house, and it breaks my heart to know I will probably have to leave them for good soon.

I also try my best to make sure that no cops happen to shoot them.

I'm in the sticks, and high speed internet costs more than $20 a month, although I am supposed to be getting it soon.

With that said, public libraries do seem to attract a high concentration of weirdos…

Maybe you called the police on a police

My personal sense is that he was probably just some really grungy weirdo.

Please elaborate and tell me exactly how you might have handled it yourself.

Thanks.

Why ?
And just what do you expect them to do?

:(

The biggest reason that I called after he bolted was because I was worried that he might call them and try to turn the whole thing around on me.

Also, if he really is a weirdo, then I think it is good that this goes on his record.

He may be a convicted pedophile who just broke his parole, or someone else may report him being a weirdo in the future, and now there is a recorded pattern of behaviour.

If the guy had been their coincidentally it is unlikely he would have been so eager to offer you a browse of his phone. Me thinks he protest too much. The degree of malice is what you want to establish.

Since he failed to adequately explain the camera noises that his phone was making, then I initially wanted him to just leave so that I could read AF's threads in peace.

When he threatened to try and turn the whole thing around on me instead, then I felt that I needed to report the incident in order to protect myself from legal mischaracterization.

That dude just uploaded your pics to the Internet.

Probably took them 'cause you were smiling at him:

Actually, I was doing my coquettish face:

I seee. Um-hmm. Do you often associate feelings of annoyance with amusement?
