I am in the process of writing a full length feature script titled, "Welcome To Liberty". It's about the collapse of our government and society as we view the world we may see in the future. It's also centered around two young boys in the town of Liberty. This is the initial 15 pages. . . :)

Below is the text only version, if you need PDF here you go.

FADE IN:

SUPER - AMERICA, 2020.

INT. OLD STYLE DANCE HALL - NIGHT

Hundreds of people are gathered around watching an interview
on TV. TAYLOR COLE (15) is sitting next to his friend MATT
HARRIS (15). Matt has blond hair that falls down over his
face and is very attractive with a slightly effeminate way
about him. Taylor has short dark hair and small frame.
Taylor's mother, JENNIFER COLE (35) and Matt's father, BILL
HARRIS (40) are on both sides of them. On television, being
interviewed is JOSEPH PAUL (35). The TV is an older TV that
is fading in an out. They are hanging on every word Joseph
Paul says.

INTERVIEWER
We've seen the collapse of our
economy. We're in the midst of a
world war. If you were to become
President, what will you do?

JOSEPH PAUL
We can only go to war when our
interests are at stake, not another
country's. Our money must be
backed by something of value, such
as gold and silver to ensure we
don't abuse it like we have. Now
our money is almost worthless and
it'll only get worse, if we don't
make some changes.

INTERVIEWER
What do you think of the militias
that have formed up all over the
country?

JOSEPH PAUL
I think they're wonderful. They
are real Americans doing their part
to defend their way of life. It's
government that has failed them,
not the other way around. And to
hear the stories of our
unconstitutional civilian police
force harassing them just really
disturbs me. They're not hoarding
resources, they're using them. Our
government has become immoral and
we the people must change it.

The interview ends as everyone explodes with cheering.

EXT. CITY WALLS - DAY

SUPER: LIBERTY, NORTH CAROLINA.

The town is surrounded by walls that are 30 feet tall, made
of wood. A road leads up to the main gate, which has two
towers over-looking a long winding road. In the towers are
men keeping watch. One of them is Bill Harris, the father of
Matt Harris.

He sees a man approaching on horseback. The man on horseback
stops and stares at the city. Bill yells -

BILL
Open the gates!

On both sides of the gates are about 8 men in total who pull
the gate open. The gate is very wide. As they open it the
man arrives on horseback into the city. The horse is jet
black. Bill climbs down from the tower to greet the man.

The mans name is BRAYDEN MURRAY (19). He has long, dark
brown hair and an attractive face and slender body. He's
wearing a long, black trench coat, with a long shotgun stowed
away. Matt, along with some of the local townsmen join Bill
in welcoming him.

BILL (CONT'D)
Welcome to Liberty. I'm. . . Well,
the leader of this town.
(beat)
You could call me the mayor.

The men laugh at this. The man gets off his horse and shakes
Bill's hand. Men come to him and give him some water. He
thanks them and drinks it thirstily.

BRAYDEN
Thank you so much. My name is
Brayden. Brayden Murray. I've
been riding for miles looking for
people. They confiscated
everything from our home and. . .
now I have nothing.

BILL
(interrupts)
The Civilian Police Force?

BRAYDEN
Right. I was lucky to escape.

BILL
Damn C.P.F. Do you have any folks?

BRAYDEN
(beat)
They resisted. My father had a
gun. They're both. . .

He's fighting back tears.

BRAYDEN (CONT'D)
So I hear you guys will stand up
and fight these sonofabitches, is
that right?

The older men get a chuckle out of this while Brayden glares
at Bill.

BILL
We do what needs to be done.

Matt starts checking out his horse.

MATT
(to Brayden)
Beautiful horse. What's his name.

BRAYDEN
Justice.

The men laugh. Bill grabs his son.

BILL
This little guy here is my son,
Matt. You are welcomed to stay
here, provided you will work. You
work, we provide protection and a
good community of, albeit drunks,
but good people. . .

They all chuckle.

BILL (CONT'D)
That's how it works. We've got a
stable, but nobody really knows how
to train horses for shit. Think
you could help us?

BRAYDEN
Absolutely.

BILL
Great! Matt can show you around
later.

Bill turns toward the men and yells -

BILL (CONT'D)
Men! Welcome Brayden to Liberty!

They all cheer and applaud. One of the local townsmen, JAMES
puts his arms around Brayden and walks him toward a building
slowly.

JAMES
Let's start off by showing you the
most important building in this
entire town.

He points to -

FRIENDLY GUY
The tavern!

All the men laugh as they escort him inside. The town gates
close shut.

EXT. FORREST - EVENING

Matt and Taylor are now out in the forest chopping wood and
gathering it up into big piles. Taylor is sitting up against
a tree, eating an apple.

MATT
(breathless)
Don't exhaust yourself over there.

TAYLOR
(to Matt)
Do you think he can save us?

MATT
Who?

TAYLOR
The guy on TV.

MATT
The great Joseph Paul? I don't
know.

Matt sits next to him.

TAYLOR
I like what he says.

MATT
Have you had any other dreams?

Taylor looks down.

TAYLOR
Yeah. . .

MATT
You know you can tell me, I won't
tell anyone. I just find them
interesting.

Taylor thinks about it and gives in.

TAYLOR
All I could see was a long line of
people. Everyone was wearing ratty
clothes. Then I heard a voice ask,
what do you choose?

MATT
Well, what do you choose sir?

They laugh.

TAYLOR
I don't know! It's frustrating.
(beat)
But the voice sounded like the guy
on TV.

MATT
Did you see the new guy?

TAYLOR
Yeah. I hear his parents were
killed.

MATT
Yeah, seemed pretty upset about it.
I love his horse. He's gonna run
our pathetic stables supposedly.

The sound of someone lightly creeping up on them through the
brush catches their attention. It's VALARIE NAVAEH (18).
She's the prettiest girl in all of Liberty and has long blond
hair with light green eyes. She's surprised to see them.

TAYLOR
Hi Valarie. . .

VALARIE
Hi. . . You guys look like you're
working hard.

She comes over and sits by them. Taylor smiles at her.

TAYLOR
Not really. I just let Matt do all
the work.

They all laugh. She's staring at Taylor's apple.

TAYLOR (CONT'D)
Want a bite?

VALARIE
Sure.

He hands her the apple as she bites it, Taylor watches her
intently.

MATT
Well, I'd better go. Dad wants me
to show him around. I'll see yall
later.

VALARIE
Show who around?

MATT
The new guy, Brayden. . .

VALARIE
Oh, heard about him.

Matt exits. Valarie and Taylor are left alone.

TAYLOR
So how is your mom? I'd ask how
your dad is but he called me a
freak.

VALARIE
As good as she can be. My father,
he's afraid of you. He thinks you
are a witch or something.

She laughs embarrassingly.

TAYLOR
Not exactly.

VALARIE
What are you then?

TAYLOR
I don't know, it's something I've
always had. I just feel things,
know things, sometimes before they
happen. Just don't tell anyone
else I said that. Cept for Matt,
he knows I'm a freak.

She smiles at him.

VALARIE
Your not a freak.
(whispers)
But you are. . . different.

TAYLOR
(beat)
I was wondering if you'd wanna come
over tonight and I could show you
the book we have on -

VALARIE
(interrupts)
Sorry, I'm supposed go out with
Tom.

TAYLOR
(groans)
Oh Tom.

VALARIE
I'd better get going, but thanks
for the apple.

TAYLOR
No problem. . .

She exits as Taylor watches her leave. She looks back,
catching him staring. He looks away.

EXT. STABLES - NIGHT

Brayden is out around the stables checking things out. There
are only three horses, including his own. Matt appears in
the stable while Brayden is combing his horse and startles
him.

BRAYDEN
Oh you scared me.

Matt laughs.

MATT
I'm just here to see if you need
anything.

BRAYDEN
Uh, yeah. I was wondering where I
sleep?

MATT
Nobody told you? Follow me. . .

Matt goes into the back to show him a horribly small, dirty
room in the back with a nasty bed. They are standing in the
doorway as Brayden is looking over Matt's shoulder into the
little room.

MATT (CONT'D)
Sorry, it's not much.

BRAYDEN
It'll do. So you're Matt, right?

MATT
Yes. My father used to be apart of
the Civilian Police Force. But he
quit once he realized what was
happening. He and a lot of the
other guys helped build this place.

BRAYDEN
This place is amazing. Thank him
for me, will you?

MATT
(beat)
You know we have an extra room in
our house. I could see -

BRAYDEN
(interrupts)
No. This is fine.

INT. INSIDE TAYLOR'S HOME - NIGHT

The house is lit only by candles and a fireplace. Taylor
walks into the living room to see what's cooking in the
fireplace. His mother is sitting in the chair reading with
the fire crackling in the background.

JENNIFER
Your late.

TAYLOR
I know. . .

She looks back at her book.

JENNIFER
That Joseph Paul is something,
isn't he?

Taylor walks over to his mother and lays his head on her
shoulder to see what she's reading. It's a small book
titled, "Life, Liberty And The Pursuit Of Happiness" by
Joseph Paul.

TAYLOR
(grins)
Someone has a crush.

Jennifer laughs.

JENNIFER
Oh you hush! It's purely his
beliefs that I'm smitten with.

She get's up and hands him the book.

JENNIFER (CONT'D)
Here. . . let me get you a bowl.
You need to eat, working out there
all day.

Taylor starts reading the book as the fire glistens off the
cover.

INT. MATT'S HOUSE - NIGHT

Matt is sitting at a table eating bread and beans when his
father, Bill enters the kitchen. He's dirty and tired.

BILL
You boys get that firewood?

MATT
Yeah. Quite a bit. Should be
enough so we don't have to go out
again tomorrow.

BILL
You know how tough it is right now.
We need all we can get.

MATT
I understand.
(beat)

BILL
I'm worried the C.P.F's gonna come
back. . .

Matt stops eating and looks seriously at Bill.

MATT
Would they?

BILL
Not sure. The more people we get,
the more dangerous it becomes. I
fear what might happen.

MATT
Do you think that Joseph Paul can
do anything?

BILL
Not sure. If he could win, that
would at least be a step. So, did
you check in on the new guy. . .
What's his name?

MATT
Brayden. Yes I did. Don't think
he was too thrilled about that
little bed.

Bill stares at Matt.

BILL
Well, once we get to know him
better maybe I'll offer him the
extra room.

Matt is excited.

MATT
You know. . . Nevermind.

He's smiling and now Bill is curious.

BILL
What, what is it?

MATT
Well, you know the rumors about
Taylor?

BILL
That he's a witch?

Matt nods his head, yes.

MATT
Maybe he could help warn us if he
see's them attacking?

Bill busts out laughing. Matt is embarrassed.

BILL
Tell you what, if he lets you know
then you can let me know.

Bill gets up still chuckling while Matt sits embarrassed.

EXT. STABLES - LATE NIGHT

Matt is sneaking into the stables with a book in his hands.
The stable has a light on inside.

INT. STABLES - CONTINUOUS

Matt slowly walks toward Brayden's little room to see him
laying on his back with his shirt off staring at the sky.
He's startled by Matt.

MATT
Sorry! I knew I was gonna do that
again.

BRAYDEN
No it's okay, I could use some
company.

Matt walks toward him and hands him the book.

MATT
I just thought you'd need something
to read.
It's really all I have, and I've
read it more than the writer has.

Brayden grabs the book.

BRAYDEN
Thanks. Could use something to
keep my mind off things.

Brayden sits up and opens the flap of the book. Brayden
gestures to the seat next to him.

BRAYDEN (CONT'D)
Have a seat.

Matt sits. Brayden reads the title.

BRAYDEN (CONT'D)
"The Day We Lost". Hmm, never
heard of it.

Matt leans in and turns to the back flap. As he leans in,
Brayden admires his soft blonde hair.

MATT
See, it's about a town that
survives -

The sound of ringing bells obliterates the night air. They
both jump up and run out of the stables to see people running
from their homes to the town gates as they open.

Brayden is standing behind matt, looking over his shoulder at
the commotion.

Two horses dragging a wagon and several other men on
horseback enter the town. The people seem excited and slowly
grow into a cheer. It's Joseph Paul, shaking the hands of
everyone he encounters.

EXT. CITY WALLS, MAIN GATE - CONTINUOUS

MATT
(to Brayden)
Oh my God, it's him.

They both run to the crowd. Matt asks one of the men
standing around.

MATT (CONT'D)
Isn't that Joseph Paul?

MAN
Sure is! He heard about our place
and wanted to see it for himself!
Can you believe that! You boys
better vote for him, he's our only
hope!

Joseph is dressed merely in jeans a nice shirt. He's shaking
hands with the people, while Bill gives him the rundown of
the city. People behind him close the gates.

Taylor and Jennifer come running, trying desperately to get a
look at the man they admire.

TAYLOR
(to Matt)
Is it him? Joseph Paul?

MATT
Looks like it.

Matt notices Brayden standing behind Matt.

TAYLOR
(to Brayden)
Hey, I'm Taylor.

BRAYDEN
(to Taylor)
Nice to meet you.

TAYLOR
Sorry about your parents.

Brayden is surprised he brought it up.

BRAYDEN
Uh, thanks.

Taylor moves closer in towards the crowd to get a glimpse of
Joseph Paul.

Taylor notices Valarie in the crowd with TOM (19) in front of
her. She notices him. He gives her a smile, she flashes one
back as they're both excited. Tom is tall and built with
dark hair and handsome.

Joseph Paul pauses as he stares at Jennifer. Nervously she
shakes his hand.

JOSEPH PAUL
Tell me, do you plan to vote for me
miss?

JENNIFER
Oh we all do. Keep doing what your
doing, it's so important.

JOSEPH PAUL
Thank you, I will.

He smiles a big smile as he continues on down the line to
other city folk. She stares at him as he glances back one
more time.

EXT. MAIN COURTYARD - LATER

Bill and Joseph are talking while the crowd has largely
disappeared. Matt and Brayden are standing next to Bill.
Jennifer and Taylor approach. Joseph looks at Taylor.
Taylor introduces himself to the presidential candidate.

TAYLOR
Hi, I'm Taylor.

They shake hands as Joseph looks at his mother.

JOSEPH PAUL
Hey there young man. Is this
beautiful women your mother?

TAYLOR
Yes. We have an extra room if you
need somewhere to stay.

Bill looks at Taylor oddly.

BILL
That's just what we were talking
about. . .

JENNIFER
Taylor. . . I'm sure he has -

BILL
(interrupts)
No, Jennifer that's fine. If you
don't mind. . . Could he stay with
you? I'll probably give Brayden
here our room.

She's shocked.

JENNIFER
Oh, it would be an honor.

BILL
Great.
