I am trying to draft Congressman Paul Broun for Senate in Georgia

I don't like this guy one bit. He's an evolution denier who's on the House Science committee. Support him if you think he's better than Saxby but he should not be the face of the movement.

Ron Paul, who is undoubtedly the face of the movement, doesn't believe in evolution either.

A significant proportion of this nation's population (especially so in the state of Georgia) are "evolution deniers". In fact, even Ron Paul is one. How does this personal viewpoint affect Broun's policies?

I support Paul Broun because he is a liberty leaning fiscal conservative and would make a valuable ally of Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee in the Senate.

He doesn't have to be the face of the movement. He's definitely better than Saxby, and probably better than every senator other than Rand.

It's worth trying to draft him. But don't expect RP supporters to rally behind him in any way at all like they did for Rand and Schiff in 2010. You'll get a few RP folks who will put in a lot of effort to help with this, and a few more who won't be excited about it but will coolly support it, but there won't be a big enough payoff from those to make a serious challenger out of him. You'll need a broad conservative coalition, the bulk of which will have to come from other groups.

Why is this the biggest opposition I get of Broun? Evolution debate.

Broun is a nutjob. However, he's a nutjob who will vote with us on enough issues to make him a great win for us. I'd say the same about Bachmann or Gohmert if those wacka-doos were pro-liberty.

Broun is terrible. I live in his district, I've met him face-to-face, I've gone to his town halls. He's awful. I don't think he believes in liberty. I don't think he should be considered part of the liberty movement. He's an authoritarian. He voted for the NDAA. I don't think he's the worst in Congress by any means, but he is not worth supporting, except possibly in the primary against someone as bad as Saxby (who I admit is worse).

Broun is a rabid theocrat, he's rabidly pro-war, and he is a corrupt "good ole boy". He'd happily give away perks to his friends. These things are incompatible with liberty. I am embarrassed that he is my representative in Congress. Please do not support him with money or time. I can understand voting for him against Saxby though (although I sure won't be).

I can see where you're coming from. However, we can't be picky in who our allies are. Broun defeating Saxby would open up your seat, and perhaps, you could run? :)

Broun voted against the NDAA and also voted against the Patriot Act. He's a great rep, probably #5 overall.

Let me clear up Broun's position on NDAA and indefinite detention.

He voted for the NDAA because it funds our military.

However, he also voted for the Smith/Amash amendment prohibiting indefinite detention, and for the Gohmert amendment prohibiting indefinite detention. The Gohmert amendment was in the final bill. By the way, he was one of 18 Republicans to vote for the Smith/Amash amendment.

He was also one of 26 Republicans to vote against the reauthorization of the PATRIOT Act.

Combine that with his anti-TSA position, and I think his civil liberties stances make up for disagreements on foreign policy. And on that front, he is also against globalist organizations like the U.N. which he wants to withdraw from. So his foreign policy, while mainly standard Republican, is not without some pros.

He is certainly not a good ole boy, just because he is white and old. He is a rebel to the establishment and that is why it took several tries for him to get elected.

I think some of the evolution denying stuff is BS pushed by the Democrats. The guy is an MD so clearly his science knowledge is not lacking. You can believe in science and not believe every component of evolution, or global warming, etc. It's just a BS narrative pushed by the Democrats trying to make them look sophisticated by being the "party of science."

Broun is a rabid theocrat

Let's take a look at some other 'rabid theocrats':
