I am buying my first gun...need a little help

Rockefeller started remington, don't buy from that oil tycoon.

Do you have a source for that BULLSHIT.

I swear, there is more ignorant crap spread around here.
. It was founded in 1816 by Eliphalet Remington in Ilion, New York, as E. Remington and Sons. It is the oldest company in the United States which still makes its original product, and is the oldest continuously operating manufacturer in North America. It is the only US company which produces both firearms and ammunition domestically, and is the largest US producer of shotguns and rifles.

I bought my first shotgun last weekend. It's a Winchester 1300 Defender.

I REALLY like the look and feel of it (not very heavy at all). I hope the heck I like shooting it. I'll find out in the next couple of months when Minnesota warms up a bit!

OK, but what would be a cheap but reliable hand-gun with enough power to stop on intruder but at the same time would fit in a poor man's budget?

I've settled on the following:

Handgun: S&W .357 Revolver (got it, like it, bought it used)
Shotgun: Mossberg Persuader (haven't bought it yet, will buy soon, it's cheap relatively speaking)
Rifle: No clue what to get, know very little about them.

if this is your first gun, I'd go with a .22

The Ruger 10/22 would be a good and fun choice, and there is plenty of upgrades and knick-knacks you can add on to it.

The guns I own are at my parent's house.
25-06
and .22 rifle

what i want is an affordable hand gun to keep at my property in the city.

Ill buy a 22 as well. Like you all said cheap ammo for getting use to firing. I fired a gun a lot when I was 12/13 (around when I was a Mormon they like their guns) I am going to pick up the siaga as well. I can get all that for under a k.

Thanks guys!

I called it bullshit, because it IS bullshit.
Don't wrongfully criticize me for your own nescient comprehension.
Check your facts before you spout somebody else's crap.
Percy Avery Rockefeller (1878–1934)
He was born in 1878. Remington was started in 1816. That is 62 years before Rockefeller was born.
Remington began its long history in 1816. Eliphalet Remington II believed he could build a better gun than he could buy.

The Rockefeller's bought into a lot of businesses, But it was not owned or started by them.
Your claim that it was started by Rockefeller is,
A made up lie
A fabrication
False information.
And hence is BULLSHIT.

Point blank is they own a portion of it.

I don't wanna buy from those kinda people.

Secondly, I'll admit I heard it frome somebody and never checked up on.

However, this doesn't matter because they own a portion of company.

They own a portion which isn't sole ownership however, you're money is still dumped into their pockets.

Trolls. With that kind of attitude you should be voting McCain.

if you're just using it for home protection, and dont plan on shooting it extensively otherwise, I'd go with a revolver.

less maintenance
cheaper
more reliable
not prone to limp-wristing

Ruger, S&W, Taurus, lots of good revolvers out there.

Listen, I am not in a good mood with the results tonight.
You posted false information.
This forum and this sub forum especially is full of misleading information.
There are a bunch of kids that only know weapons from what they see in movies and video games. There are folks that are just wakening up to the need, and wish to learn something.
I will not put up with the spread of useless and misleading crap.
This is a topic that needs to be treated with seriousness.

BTW, Remington Arms makes several very good products, and I would recommend them to anyone.

The Rockefeller's own stock or shares of almost everything in this country. You will have a hard time finding anything they don't have a piece of.

It is not a good reason to derail a thread with no relevant input.

Infrared beam with the Mossberg pump. Hit his ass with it twice, make him A-town stomp.

There are alot of excellent suggestions here. A .22 is a good gun for learners, BB gun, or pellet gun are good guns to start with. Some reasons they are good include: low purchase price, low cost of ammo, and easy to maintain.

I recommend taking a hunters safety course, or other gun safety course. A good friend or relative may also have the skills you seek. There may be a range or gun club in your area. Good luck.
