I am a state delegate - TX

Awesome. This will be my third time as a state delegate (2008, 2010, 2012). Every time, the process gets easier, the trust of other Republicans in your district increases, and there's an increasing chance a committee chairman will call on you to be a member of a committee. I was secretary of my SD convention this time. It was hard work, but being inside the process makes you one step closer to guiding it.

In 2008, I didn't make it past the Precinct Convention

In 2010, I made it to the State Convention as an alternate

This time, I am a delegate to the State Convention.

Further up, and further in. My next goal is to myself on a committee.

It's the dedicated people like you guys who will bring the REAL change :)

Way to hang in there and "stay the course". You are an example for newcomers who get frustrated with the system.

I'm new to Texas. I love this state; and I got here as fast as I could. Saturday was the first time that I heard our pledge of allegiance. I didn't even know that we had one. It's a big indication of how much I need to learn, and how quickly I need to learn it. Texas is doing it right; and now I'm a part of the process of reinforcing the values that have made this state great. I organized my precinct; and the Ron Paul Republicans who I organized, held 75% of our precinct at the County Convention. Two us us (one being myself) were elected to become state delegates. Thank you, to all have supported me through this intense learning curve. Help me to continue to do what's right by God, for our nation, and for the wonderful people of Texas.

Turn out at SD2 was so low that I'd estimate we have %30-35 of the entire delegation.

I'll be at State brothers and sisters. Never would've guessed it would be this easy to be a delegate - just show up and play the game.

I heard some people lost points for not agreeing to support the eventual nominee. That's not playing their game my friends. I went before committee making this all about defeating Obama and emphasizing I will fully support the nominee.

Check mate.

Amen. Maybe RP supporters make the mistake of showing up so they can debate resolutions for the platform. My learning curve ended when I realized the only thing that counts is getting on the delegate roster. Here in Texas, who's the chairman and who's on the nominating committee are the only things that matter.

Which is why it's important to play the game. I know people who were NOT selected as delegates because of their NOBP declaration. Eff that. I can live by NOBP in November, but doesn't mean I have to openly disclose it right now. Play. The. Game.

We had 16 people in my precinct show up at our SD convention.

Our precinct was allotted 3 delegates and 3 alternate delegates.

I'll be going as an alternate delegate.

Alternate delegates replace absent delegates at any convention level. Many will not show up.

See you in Ft. Worth!

Shame I didn't run into you. I'm surprised you didn't get bumped to an At-Large delegate. In my SD, (15) anyone that was an alternate got bumped to an "At-Large" delegate, because of the low turnout.

See ya in Ft. Worth!

Yea, I didn't know if it was better to go as alternate or at-large.

This guy named John who has been multiple times before and has volunteered on some of the committees seemed to think that would be a better option for me.

Probably, in a normal year with normal attendance, his advice would have been correct (for most districts). This year, with low attendance (in some districts), at large was fine.

Fort Worth, here we come. Let's send plenty of Ron Paul supporters to Tampa!
