Hundreds of students across the country sat down on Monday to take the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) test, brought to them by Common Core.

In several school districts in New Mexico, students staged walk out protests against the tests, chiding Common Core for distracting from actual learning and putting unnecessary pressure on the student body and teachers.

One student at Highland High School in Santa Fe told Fox News he thinks Common Core is a complete waste of time.
“It’s an excess of time being used and an unfair evaluation of teachers,” 16-year-old Connor Guiney said. “We don’t appreciate that and we wanted to make a stand.”

On the East Coast, walk outs weren’t as well attended, due to many states allowing students to opt out of the exam.
In Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, close to 100,000 students skipped the test.
