Huge Alabama News

It could go both places. It is only about a 2 hour drive from Mobile to New Orleans.

Is the katrina aftermath affecting this in any way do you think?

Mobile is a Ron Paul stronghold compared to New orleans which is 90% Hillary, Barack, or Giuliani country. And secondly, Mobile is much better family atmosphere. Crowd-wise, New Olreans will have around 800,000 on Mardi Gras day, and Mobile around 550,000.

THATS IT!! Ron Paul blimp in Mobile for Mardi Gras!!! PERFECT IDEA!
Well, dang, I was waiting until I got my site up, but yes, the blimp needs to come to Mobile probably on Jan 29th and stay through Jan 30th if possible.

All Mobile County precincts and the Foley precinct in Baldwin County are voting on Jan 30th, a full 6 days before the rest of Alabama and ALL the Feb 5th states. The votes are officially sealed until Feb 5th. Gee, I can't imagine ANYONE would pay us ANY attention when we would be the only ones voting that day? :D Mobile County will essentially be a miniature Iowa that day.

Bought a site last night for the Mobile area and have another site I'm going to buy for this idea. Not much of a webmaster yet, but as Drudge Report shows, even informational links are good :D.

Looking at the 2006 election, there were around 58,000 GOP votes and around 92,000 votes in all. So for a majority in GOP, we would need only 30,000 votes. It's a risk if you concentrate on only Mobile County and no exit pollsters show up, but I highly doubt that's going to happen. Imagine if the news shows were reporting 51% of the votes from the exit polls going to Dr. Paul. The rest of the country would see a 'failure cascade'(as someone mentioned this morning). Also, you would pull in a lot of votes from the "I would vote for him, but he can't win" crowd.

Here's the best part also about having the blimp during Mardi Gras. There are MASSES of people out for the parades and looking up at the sky for throws :D. 'Perfect Storm' ;) It could still go on to New Orleans after Mardi Gras though and reach another million people. Actually, there are parades all up and down the Gulf Coast.

First South Carolina and now Alabama. It surprises me how strongly Ron is polling in the deeper southern states.

Maybe it's the independent streak which remains in the south that's pushing his numbers up.

Sweet home Alabama!

It doesn't suprise me at all. I am actually suprised that he's not polling higher. I've lived in Alabama, Mississippi, and N. Carolina - currently in Florida. Southern folks like the idea of smaller government and no IRS (with the exception of the welfare crowd that likes high taxes and big government but that's the same all over).

Agreed. Rudy and Romney have no chance in the South. I think that's also part of the reason why Huckabee is also in the 'lead'. I think the South also prefers humble people to be leaders, not bellicose jerks.

If Mobile is already a stronghold, that only leads to the logical conclusion the blimp should be in New Orleans. The Blimp is there to convert people over to the cause of freedom.
If Mobile is our stronghold, why fly the blimp where we already rule?

Why skip a large metropolitan area that could have much more far-reaching consequences for Feb 5th ;) We don't need Ron Paul just beating the other candidates. We need Ron Paul overwhelmingly defeating them.

I gotta agree, new orleans is filled with people on mardi grass weekend from people all around the world really. It would be dumb not to send the blimp there as it will have a better effect over all.

I didn't say skip it... but to hover over mobile at MARDI GRAS of all times... would be ludicrous.

Actually Mobile needs to vote early as possible or better yet, absentee ballot. In any event, because of Mardi Gras in Mobile, if we play our cards right, we could lock up 85% of the vote in Mobile County.

I understand what some of you are saying.. but if it were to go to New Orleans, have it happen Mardi Gras day, AFTER its been over Mobile a day or two, then fly it down Hwy 98, down to New Orleans for visibility on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Mardi Gras celebrations.. with another 250,000 people. But we need it over Mobile, especially a day or two before, to reinforce the message to Ron Paul supporters, that Mardi Gras be damned.. get out there and vote!
