How "would" you live free?

And then go on the government dole as a welfare king...work toward taking back every penny that I've put into the system.
This is a conundrum I've faced.
Monies taken by threat of force/imprisonment would be nice to have returned, even though it would mean sucking on the tit.

We shut it down because it was no longer profitable.
5 years of drought didn't help either.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. It seems that things like the Screen Printing industry aren't sufferering a shortage of work recently and I've been swamped.

So, is the property still held by the family?

It's much more dangerous to do now, but if one were around say, in the mid-80's, one could supply little squares of paper, for a modest handling fee, to people who wished to put them upon their tongues.

Yes, 1000 acres.
200 acres is forest.
4 acres for homes and barns.
we currently have several fields converted into pastures for cows and horses.
and we used an acre to build a catfish pond.

If members of your family are like you, I'm sure the land isn't being un-used in some fashion.

When the time comes, the Booger's will have to bolt. But at least we have a couple of options of bolt-holes to bolt to. Plus we are looking at some property situations at present.

What do y'all think is the best state to live "off-the-grid"?
From my perspective, I'd say:
New Hampshire-the Live Free or Die State
Montana-the Big Sky State
Texas-the Lone Star State
Alaska-the Last Frontier
Wyoming-the Equality State
