Observations from Scotland

You have had image and sound bite politicians and kept voting them into power. Then you complained when you discovered they lied to you. But that is what image politics IS. IT IS LYING. Dr. Paul is NOT an image politician. He just does not DO politics the way the other panderers and manipulators do. The end DOES NOT justify the means and that is the line along which many of you are thinkling.

Just because you have seen a bit of the truth doesn't mean you know everything. We all still have a lot of misconceptions blurring our vision.

Complaining about the campaign just means you are still hankering after the easy win. This will not come easy. You are up against a massive, massive machine that wants Dr. Paul killed off quick, just like the British Crown wanted to kill off the rebels in 1776. You will either hang together or you will hang separately.

The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776 but the final Constitution did not come into being until 1787. There were many battles and many many deaths and disappointments on the way. Even then the seeds of today's present oppression were sown into the agreements made, the plots hatched and the debates ending in compromise.

This is not a Hollywood movie where the good guys always win. This is history being written in blood, sweat and tears. The soldiers serving in the war zones are depending on YOU to come through for them. They are giving THEIR lives for a cause they don't believe in. Can you give YOUR lives for a cause you DO believe in?

Say what you will but we've blown the early primaries, and the polls I've seen over at realclearpolitics (which were pretty accurate for the Repubs in IA and NH) have us dead last in Michigan, Nevada, South Carolina and Florida.

Assuming that the primary purpose of a campaign is to win an election, I think the evidence shows beyond a reasonable doubt, that they suck.

Dead last in Florida?
Well a low placing wouldn't surprise me considering that JulieAnnie has been all over my TV since christmas, but NOT dead last.

BUT WE CAN SHAPE THE OUTCOME OURSELVES.
Screw the campaign staff, let's do this ourselves.
Locals should all chip in and buy radio time.
Put his name on buses, cabs, pickup trucks, anything that gets "seen" by the public.
Stand in front of the supermarket dressed like professionals and work on people in a professional, matter-of-fact manner.
DO NOT PROJECT ANY DOUBT.
Image is everything. Don't go out looking like stoners, or freaks, dress for success!
Call every republican, and indies where applicable, and spread the word.
Let them know that Ron's popularity is increasing in their state due to his understanding of the state of our nation, and his ability to solve it.
Word shaping is NOT unethical!

Stop acting like sissies, and get back on track.
Every war has battles won and lost...fact of life....roll with it and move on with the newfound experience.
We KNOW what does not work...now.
Now we move forward implementing new battle plans and secure our objective...SAVING OUR COUNTRY!

This is not a game, this is real. There is no losing, there is no rolling over!

Ron, it's time to HIRE some confident, out spoken, energetic people... Kent Synder is a snooze of a shy unconfident man... he looks scared to speak, and scare to step up.

It's time to grow a sack, act like you belong in this race, and get on yoru soap boxes and speak up... We lack confidence at teh HQ level. Someone needs to be the face of the campaign. We need to find some celebrity endorcement to get on TV, and talk about Ron Paul... Howard Stern? Get Howard on the campaign trail.

Find something else that will draw NON-Ron Paul supporters to a ROn Paul event, and change some minds...

I haven't really seen where the campaign has done anything except drive RP to events. The only thing that has gotten people fired up is seeing Ron on the debates. Then again, I live in VA and they have not actively campaigned here... who knows.

I think that they needed to control the message a little more at the top. Get people to stick to message and not get into the 9-11 truth movement or whatever side agendas that supporters have. I think that most of us supporters know more about the actual campaign that the campaign does. Sometimes Ron gets informed of things we are doing by the press, and has no idea. Seems like there should be grassroots coordinators that keep people on message and relay what we are doing with the official campaign so that they at least know what is going on. I know they are doing their best, but I don't think they were prepaired to have this huge of a campaign and had no planning for what to do with it. I have been into this thing since he formed an exploratory committee and never thought this many people would come on board... I don't think they were thinking they would be leading a movement or had planning in place. Now they are trying to figure out how to do all of it. I think that if Romney or Clinton had our grassroots support, they would take better advantage because they would coordinate it better, but then again, we only have the grassroots we do because it is not top-down like the other campaigns, so its a catch 22.

Then again, thats just my take... I did get the honor of meeting him and going to the Philly Vets Day rally. The Vets Day Rally was really well planned and put on and the campaign made that happen with the local meetup, so who knows...

I have waved signs, and I am talkign about it, I walk around with me Choose Liberty arm band, and talk to people about him... I do not have th emoney to get on ads, and make statments... And more importantly, no one cares when I speak up.

We need someone to speak up and make statements, be those attacks, or a better way to sound bite the message. Ron Pauls answers never are sound bite worthy...


The HQ needs to initiate the next wave, something to re-energize the grassroots, this is how it happens, see the McCain campaign for an example... their base was falutering after Iowa, and they went nuts to get them back and enregized... If we do not have a moment soon, the money will dry up, and the support will too...

What is being done to attract new supporters? All I see is movies about events for existing supporters, rally the base... it's time to say, hey general public, you know education sucks in the country, it's time to change the dynamic...

And the leadership comes from HQ.

HQ, lead me into doing something, and I will do it.
Wait for me to figure out a way to create a mass following of supporters via youTube, and we will be waiting a long time.

Time for a winning strategy.

I agree with that, if we don't brake into at least the top 3 in the next few states, media, and support will go, although the movement and the ideas will live on for us die hards...

People are fickle and a lot of young passionate people will be drawn to Obama because they see a chance at winning.

While I understand they might be holding back funds to be used in the larger delegate states. BUT - That cash lead can be lost to candidates that do well in the first 2 states. Many Wait and see people will hold out and when they sell someone doing well in the first 2 states, their vote and money will follow.

Change Must First Come from Within

The results of lasts night NH Primary can't be blamed all on the campaign's management, but I'd say a good portion of it can be. There are things one can't control, but there would seem to be a lack of experience running the show at HQ.

RP's message MUST be articulated, repeated all the time, and fashioned so that there is no question on where he stands. Vague slogans aren't going to cut it.

Dr. Paul, and his supporters (I’m one of them too), tend to speak over the head of the average, conditioned, apathetic, ignorant, citizen. What seems so clear and undeniable to us is pure Greek to most people. How many times has Dr. Paul’s idea to abolish the IRS been met with that “deer in the headlights” look? Ron Paul’s ideas are pure, simple, and vital, but to get it across, the essence of the message must be broken down "Barney" style for most people. To assume John Q. Public is automatically going to understand the issues Paul speaks of just gives John Q. Public far too much credit. Not to say people are stupid, they just don’t know any other way. People scream for change, and when it is presented to them, they get scared, shut down their brains, and resist the very change they desire.

The Campaign HQ needs real pros in marketing, advertising, mangagement, stradegy, politics, etc. I mean look at some of the videos on Youtube, made by people who are't affiliated with HQ - some of those videos are BETTER than the official ads. I've got to be honest, but most of the Official Ads...well, they SUCK. They're vague, repeat stuff that was being used a year ago, and really don't hit on RP's core platform. Okay, so he's a ob/gyn, so he delivered 4K babies...Joe Apathy on the street doesn't care about that. Joe Apathy cares about, "What's in it for me? How does bringing the troops home affect ME? How does the falling dollar affect ME?"

What is Ron Paul going to do?

Secure boarders? Okay, HOW?

Bring home the troops? Okay, HOW (and when)? Imediately? Okay, how is that going to be done?

Get rid of the FED? Okay, HOW?

Lower Taxes? Okay, HOW?

Fix Medical Care? Okay, HOW?

RP's campaign needs to tap into the talent that is out there - most might do things at cost or for free, but his campaign staff MUST make a change, or we'll not stand a chance.

The problem is that the louder and harder we work, the more the media labels us lunatics...

We do need someone in the campaign hitting the streets and interviews harder than ever and better relations with the press. If that takes firing people, restructuring, whatever, then so be it... but something needs to happen or nothing is going to happen.

Nice post. We need to step down when needed, we need to educate and give them a hand up, give them hope and comfort when needed.

As to rating corporate... I think we are all in the same boat and sinking their end only sinks our end. There is a lot of work ahead of us all, and we all need to pull together, pulling in the same direction.

I voted a 2. I'm disappointed on the bad TV ads, apparently not spending much money on TV time, and not airing the ELiberty . Also I think they could do better on responding to the old newsletter stories.

Maybe the campaign staff thought that they could do well in Iowa/New Hampshire without spending much money and then deliver a knock-out blow on later primaries. Well if so, that strategy didn't work. They should tell the grassroots what their strategy is now even though they don't want other campaigns to know their strategy. The grassroots needs a morale boost pronto.

I believe the campaign relies WAYYYYY too much on grassroots and doesn't make much of an effort compared to all other campaigns out there in trying to promote their guy. I gave them a 2 as well, whoever is their campaign strategist (if they have one) needs to be fired.

All in all we really must take vote fraud into account. Vote fraud has been vrought up many times on many forums and many times it has been dismissed as conspiracy crap. It is a conspiracy but it surely isn't crap!

If it is the message that is important to Paul than he can eliminate vote fraud, he needs to go on the attack and stop continually defending himself against bullshit smears, most people see him as honest, if he can end vote fraud he will be a legend forever and he will get a lot of support from democrats also because they have been crying vote fraud for 8 years now!
