Why don't we make this march about something more broad, that more people can get on board with. I suggest using ideals such as liberty, freedom, transparency in government, returning to the constitution, rather than specifics. This could help get our numbers as high as possible. We need to unite people for a common goal. We can't unite everyone over a 911 truth movement, we can't unite everyone over some conspiracy theories about who's really running the government, and people from my region won't be uniting against this stupid war anytime soon (I think we must educate them first). And many of them are not going to unite for Ron Paul as they think he's a nut (education once again). Many people will not unite against bush/cheney/halliburton, They aren't going to unite against the current republican party, as they think the repub's are on their side. These are all great things to support if you believe, but I think by backing up and taking a broader stance we might could reach more people???? And then eventually they can form there own opinions on the war, etc. Maybe i am wrong. But sometimes i think we are too well informed to be trying to convert the common sheep, b/c when we tell them the truth it can sound so radical to them. I think broader terms would be better. Speak a language they understand. I support the march 100% either way, just offering my two cents.
Things that work for me when talking politics around here (the South).
1) Gun Control - They want to come take your guns, give examples, new orleans after Katrina.
2) Taxes- they are going up and spending is out of control
3) health care- most people around here understand that socialized health care will suck.
4) Transparency in government- Why is it so hard to find out what's really going on
5) States rights- here in the south many love states rights. Many people actually understand that the Federal government is supposed to be much less powerful than it is, and States should have much more power. I can always get people fired up when i tell them how the Fed Gov. will manipulate the State Gov. by withholding funds.... The funds that came from the people of the state. It wasn't there money to begin with!
6)NAU- this only works on the more educated ones, many people still don't believe there is such thing, but if they do then it is definately a hot button discussion.
7)Don't bash limbaugh, hannity, or any of the other neocons to hard. You will piss off your "conservative" friends and make it harder for them to see the light in the long run.
I hope this post makes sense. What i am saying is less specific themes could lead to a stronger march, and pull from a larger base of people to attend. Lets target the old-school conservatives who maybe have not woken up completely to reality yet, as well as the die hard Ron Paul Repub's, dem, indies, Libertarians or whatever.
