how to counterattack the ron paul race smear campaign

Ron Paul's articles are republished all over the place, doesn't mean he writes for all those outlets.

[Copied and pasted my own reply from another thread]

Now for a few relevant ideological quotes of the day:

"The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities." - Ayn Rand

"Wars are poor chisels for carving out peaceful tomorrows." Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Racism is simply an ugly form of collectivism, the mindset that views humans strictly as members of groups rather than individuals. By encouraging Americans to adopt a group mentality, the advocates of so-called 'diversity' actually perpetuate racism. Their obsession with racial group identity is inherently racist. We should understand that racism will endure until we stop thinking in terms of groups and begin thinking in terms of individual liberty." - Ron Paul, 4/18/07

"We don't get our rights because we're gays, or women, or minorities; we get our rights from our Creator as individuals, so every individual should be treated the same way." - Ron Paul

You probably know where I got those last three quotes.:)

Race is an oppressive factor in every facet of our national life, it's part of the American landscape. From the Jena 6 to Don Imus to Trent Lott and so on and so forth ad infinitum, every public figure has to constantly walk on egg shells knowing that even the most innocuous and innocent comment could ruin their career or presidential aspirations.

Ron Paul is not a racist. However, his enemies in the MSM are certainly going to accuse him of being one. They did it to Pat Buchanan when they pulled out the "N" bomb and branded him a "Nazi." Ridiculous but it worked.

How do we prevent this from happening to Ron Paul? I honestly don't know. Politics is a ruthless, dirty business and the power-brokers, the king-makers, the string-pullers in the MSM will stop at nothing to acheive their objectives. They will pull out the race card, they will drop the Nazi bomb, they will use every dirty trick in the book. Throw enough mud and some of it will stick.

I really don't know what to make of this latest flap with the Hollywood/Jerry Springer 'Nazi' and LGF. The guy is a pariah among legitimate White Nationalists. He's a full-fledged, bona-fide nut. He represents no one but himself and a hand full of fellow nut-jobs. Ignore him completely, give him the ol' 10th Avenue freeze-out. Like an internet troll he thrives on attention, don't give it to him.

Don Black on the other hand represents a legitimate and rapidly growing segment of an increasingly alienated and disaffected white America. There isn't a great deal of difference between a White Nationalist and an old-fashioned palaeo-conservative Republican. Like any other ethnic group in balkanized America, people of european descent have the right to further there own interests. There is nothing hateful, 'supremacist,' racist or extreme in wanting America to remain a first-world, English speaking country with a Christian/Western European culture. Dr. Paul's race-blind, neutral position appeals to this segment of the population. It would be a mistake to intentionally alienate them by pandering to minority groups who may not be inclined to vote for Paul anyway.

I came across the following comment, who knows how many people feel exactly the same way, millions perhaps.

A politician that doesn't pander to political correctness? Wow, how refreshing. I suppose that will be the FEC's next move -- All campaigns must screen each and every donor to make sure that their believes match those of the government.

A lot easier to do for the Romneys of the world who can 'loan' their campaign millions or the the clinton/obama/giulliani/mccain camps who receive the bulk of their money from corporate donors. Hmm wonder who we want as president -- someone who receives money from people who are excited about their candidate and his message or someone who will kowtow to their corporate masters. Not saying I'm voting for the Ron Paul, but I'm leaning that way and this is just one more reason to vote for him.

We can find "Macaca" incidents made by the other candidates, if we keep following them, recording everything they say, and posting it on Youtube. We also must make the other's look more rascist. Tancredo was just too easy, but the other's will take some work. Mitt, perhaps, with his lies about MLK and his dad, plus his anti-Arab sentiment. I can't think anything about McCain, though with his temper he's bound to say something destructive edventually.

Of course doing this would be loosing some integrity on our part, though if it is something we are willing to sacrifice...

I'm from Mississippi and I've read Charles Evers' (Medgar's brother) book and was thinking maybe he would be a good candidate for endorsing Dr. Paul. Charles converted to Republican from the Democratic party saying that it was not helping blacks. I think he owns a radio station in Jackson. If he likes the Ron Paul platform then his endorsement, or that of people like him, could be great to offset negative publicity.

The clips from I think the PBS debate on the official campaign website has some great points on racial inequality in law enforcement that can be solved by ending the war on drugs. Gun restrictions and drug laws in the inner city make criminals out of the residents (black or white). It is unsafe to be without a gun, and illegal to have one. There are few jobs. Selling drugs is an easy way to make money. Ending the drug war will end a lot of racial profiling, because drugs are the excuse cops use to single people out for questioning and searching and intimidating them often with their kids forced to watch (white or black, been there more than once).

Were all of his patients white?

Were all of Dr. Paul's patients white? Did he only deliver caucasian babies? There are 4000 of Dr. Paul's deliveries walking around Texas. If we could recruit one or two of his darker-skinned patients, this vicious smear would be put out of its misery.

"Mexican" is the adjective describing the noun "American."
Hyphenated implies half-and-half.
He punctuated it correctly.
Maybe. Only kushaze knows for sure what he meant.

Scot American for Ron Paul!

Please no! No kissing black babies, no sermons a la Bill Clinton in black Baptist churches while breaking into a MLK cadence, no pandering period! Dr. Paul should avoid the racial minefield to the greatest extent possible.

This is clearly a harbinger of things to come. If we place third in Iowa we can expect the character attacks to fly just like they did to Pat Buchanan. If they succeed in convincing voters that Paul is intolerant then the momentum we build up in Iowa will be worthless come New Hampshire.

Before this happens, Paul needs to distinguish himself as the tolerant Republican. Remember Paul was one of the few politicians who realized the horrible damage the 'war on drugs' was causing to black families; ripping fathers away from their children. He needs to show that he is the champion of individual liberty and tolerance of all people regardless of race or sexual orientation. The campaign should prepare ads that counteract this. Something like, "this is what the media says about Ron Paul, but these are the facts....he fought for inner city folks when no one else would…Wants an amendment that protects civil rights while also not giving the government power over ones property...he supports all individuals including gays (big topic in New Hampshire) etc etc." You know stuff like that which will galvanize New Hampshire voters. If the campaign is unprepared for these types of attack that WILL happen, then we are likely to loose support as we move to New Hampshire.

What about his opposistion to the Civil Rights Act?

That is the biggest problem for Paul at this point. If he is going to oppose the most popular piece of legislation in the last 50 years he better come up with a counter proposal. Without one he will be labeled as intolerant, a kook, or worse...

Personally, I feel he should propose a Civil Rights amendment to the constitution that defends the individual rights of all people while at the same time denying government the ability to enhance its power over peoples property. He has got to do something because saying hes just "against it" will not be sufficient for most voters.
