Need help to convert a LIBERAL democrat... and I mean LIBERAL.

He knows Paul doesn't support the war. That's not enough for him, I guess. This is what he said to me, "He sounds like a great guy and an honest person. I like his foreign policy. I just don't understand why he is running as a republican".

You see, to this guy, "republican" means "bad person".

A few things that attracted me, as a liberal:

-The idea of taking responsibility for yourself before changing the world (this is big nowadays in new age spiritual philosophies) fits nicely with Paul's local government stance, and foreign policy.

-Also the idea that most people by nature are good, and will rise to the occasion to provide education, medical care, etc for those in need.

-Free speech is paramount! Are they an artist?

That might be too much for them though. Many people don't have the same level of disdain for the gov't as you and I, especially a hardcore liberal.

The democrats not only did NOT stand up with Ron Paul when he was warning us not to invade Iraq.. but they actually voted with the republicans over and over even while the leftist grassroots and blogs were in uproar that the democrats would not stand up for themselves.

Remind them that a big effort by the people got many republicans to vote for the democrats in Nov 2006 and the democrats did NOTHING but empower the neocons even more since then.

Show them the video of Bush joking about no WMDs being found and show Pelosi finding it funny right along with the rest of them.

Remind them of all their calls for Harry Reid to stand up to the republicans only to fold over and over.

Remind them of how the democrats rolled over after each and every supreme court judge but forth by Bush... only one was sent away and that was because of RUSH LIMBAUGH and the other republicans raising hell over Miers nomination.

Is there enough time for him to switch parties & still be able to vote in his state? If there isn't enough time, or it looks like it will take too much time to convert him where it would divert you from others-- pass him by.

If it is not too late, in order to convert him you have to show him Paul's voting record. He's uninformed about what the republican party used to stand for, before it was hijacked by the neoconservatives.

Obama has voted to fund the war and during critical times like voting for the military commissions act he didnt speak out in any way near what Ron Paul has IN CONGRESS... OR he simply wasnt there to vote at all OR he waited until everyone else voted and then snuck in a vote at the end...

He's running as a Republican because Republicans used to advocate his foreign policy. His brand of anti-government, pro-freedom conservatism goes back to Robert Taft, who was actually called Mr. Republican, and to a slightly lesser extent the fairly libertarian Barry Goldwater. Basically, Paul is trying to take the party back to its roots.

Obama continues to vote to fund the occupation of Iraq and has not taken a nuclear first-strike against Iran off the table. He voted to reauthorize the Patriot Act.

Paul, on the other hand, voted against the war (one of only sevens Republicans to do so in both houses of Congress), warned against it from the beginning, continuously voted to end it and spoke out against it, and is the only candidate proposing unabashed withdrawal as soon as the military can safely do so (a period of a few months). He has been similarly outspoken against the Patriot Act.

I am socially liberal, myself.

Talk to this person about equal rights and the Constitution. Talk about getting rid of special interests and lobbyists and tell them about the need to have a person in office who understands the quagmire that is our economy. Ask them, for example, what Obama's economic plan is. (He doesn't have one.)

Tell him, if nothing else, how much the Republican establishment HATES Ron Paul. That might be enough in and of itself.
