How many languages does Ron Paul speak?

We have to know this... How can we find out? A poster in this thread nailed it... Latin in med school, German through family, Spanish through medicine.... If this is true it would be HUGE and Ron needs to start making people aware of this.

It is rumored that he can speak Spanish, but I imagine that it doesn't come natural to him. Being able to understand and converse on a personal level is different from being able to give a full interview on Televisa and not have missteps and fumbles.

Edit: Here is a full interview on Univision where Ron Paul is answering in English. With the short amount of time that networks give to a person to explain the message, it would be to his advantage to do it in English with the translation even if he could speak Spanish.

Meanwhile, if there was actually a large segment of GOP voters that only spoke Spanish, he may be able to manage it in a relaxed environment such as a townhall meeting. Who knows.

I'm sure he knows quite a bit of Spanish from living in Texas. I swear in Texas you don't even need to speak English!

It is the same way in much of Southern California. I have had people get a little ticked off at me when I use English first in stores and public places up there when they later find out that I can speak Spanish. My explanation is that when in Mexico I use Spanish first for everything, and when I am up in the US, English is the language I will default to initially, until I have to use Spanish to make myself understood.

Personally, I think that it is ridiculous that there are naturalized citizens who are eligible to vote in the United States who can't read and understand the ballot in English, the defacto lingua franca of the United States. To make matter worse, the federal government orders that the states provide ballots in other languages. This is definitely a 10th amendment issue because even the Presidential Election is technically a statewide election to determine the electors who will choose the President.

I am an FM2 visa holder/resident of Mexico, and I am already able to use Spanish in ALL aspects of my life here.

I'm pretty sure back in the 50s they still learned Latin as part of the medical training. In Europe you still do, it's a mandatory part of med school.

Interesting. My wife is in medical school and she didn't have to take Latin. They just tell them to memorize the drugs, unfortunatelyy.

There is a post on Daily Paul claiming he speaks fluent Spanish. It needs to be confirmed.

I was born n' raised in AZ, with a much higher hispanic population than texas as a percentage (IIRC), and I didn't pick up much Spanish. It's spoken a lot here and plenty of spanish signage is to be seen, but not enough for a kid to pick up unless one lives further South in a rural town closer to the border.
