How do you feel about the LP platform on abortion?

I don't know where you heard this... I was taught this in Pentecostal, Baptist, and Methodist churches, but HAVE NOT been told this in Catholic Church, actually they are pretty accepting of many things.

BTW, I have been all of these religions, and am now Catholic, as my family up to my mom and all of hubby's family are Catholic.

I listed the numers for the sections in the catholic catechism.
you can find an online edition here: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/

Also, to see more details on the jerking off theme... read pope john paul's works.

Masturbation started to become a big issue in the catholic church during the middle ages in europe.
Big Government gone wild.
Same period of time that nudity was considered sinful.. and that any sex for other purposes except for procreation was sinful. Meaning, you had sex, and when you got pregnant, you had no more sex until you were ready to have another child.

This is all catholicism.
I'm not making this shit up. You need to learn the history of the catholic church.

Well, some of it I agree with..some of it, not so much.. they reform their position on certain things time and time again.. Have you found the updated opinion of the church on these things?

The sex for pregnancy thing..I feel that if you aren't willing to handle a child you SHOULD NOT have sex...PERIOD. Whether you are married or not. And, I believe that is selfish and sinful otherwise.

that online catechism is the updated authority on what a catholic is suppose to believe.
If you don't believe 100% of it, you really aren't a catholic.
If you don't take every word out of the pope's mouth as god's edict... you are not catholic.
These were things i had to confront myself. People would ask me if I was catholic... i went to the church... i went to their schools... I knew all their traditions... yet, i couldn't say I agree with half of it. I went along to get along.
I had to come to a point where I had to admit, I really wasn't catholic.

My personal beliefs on this subject are not the same as what i've been writing on behalf of catholicism.
I did write some of my own opinions earlier. And we believe basically the same thing.
I couldn't abort my child, but i wouldn't feel right as a congressman making that decision for someone else's family.

I didn't say I didn't believe what the church teaches..I did, however, ask if it was updated.

updated. no more additions.

Was talking not just about that stuff... Sorry, I am a turd sometimes.

Will read, hang on.

the catechism will take more than a night to read.
You know, because god's list of how to live our lives is really really really long.
It took me nights to read that thing.
And more nights re-reading it.

SOme of the stuff in there made me like - wtf?!
Did god really tell them all this stuff?

Nevermind, I so lied... I am not going to read all that..

Just know that I have never been told that in this religion, but have been in the three I named above.

LOL... I will readily admit that I will not probably agree with everything 100%, as I just don't do well with well set rules....that's just who I am. Some things just won't change from what I think and feel in my heart, no matter what religion says anything different.

Religion is man's doing anyway.

yeah, our spiritual journey should be about a personal relationship and search for the divine.
any person or organization who is going to tell you what god thinks is lying to you.
at the the very best. only one of the thousands of different brands of religions can be 100% truthful.
odds are... they are all lying if they tell you god told them anything... at least, i'm certain 99.9% of them are... unless god is just messing with us by giving us so many different and conflicting commands.

K. Will eventually get to it..maybe a paragraph a decade?LOL.

I am dreading this.

You should know what it means to say you are a catholic.
When you tell me you are a catholic, you are telling me you believe this stuff.
You are not telling me, I just go to a particular church because of social reasons.

Exactly. 100% with you on that.

How do we know what is right anyway? By which interpretation makes us feel the most comfortable?? That brings us right back to our personal journey... you know?

It all comes down to us...and what WE feel is right....We will never know which way of looking at it is right until we are dead and gone anyway... Then, what if we NEVER find out..what if none of it was right at all? What if it JUST comes down to us and just living by what is right and wrong regardless of who made the rules?

Actually, I don't go to a church. :D

But, it is the closest religion I have found to what I believe.. I am new to it, and do not mind admitting that.

You may like the episcopal church better.
Very similar to the catholic church in setup, but has no attachment to the pope.. or england... or any of that.
They are very progressive. They have married and gay clergy. Women clergy.
They have a really good church in Pineville- St. Michaels.
Father Genouso is a great human.

Is he bald? If so, I have been there..

I don't mind the pope or anything, think he is always a great guy.... I don't really approve of the gay lifestyle, so I don't know how I would feel about that with them being leaders if they were actively involved in that... (I tend to separate my personal beliefs and what I think works for the world....)

I know where I stand on that, just to elaborate, just can't put it into words very well.

Nah, he's not bald. I don't go to that church, but I keep their computers running.
I have lunch with father genouso sometimes. He tells me a lot of things he feels about religion. I think the guy is really open to experiencing god on a personal level... and wants other people to do the same.

And don't worry about gay people. It isn't contagious... and you really can't help who you fall in love with... I don't think a divine would be disappointed in two people loving each other... more like, he would dislike one group of his children hating on another group of his children.
They are just humans. Just like us.

Oh, I know I can't "catch the gay"..LOL.. And that isn't my problem.. I know you can't help who you fall in love with.. I just wouldn't go to a church hubby wouldn't go to, and he will only go to Catholic, to be honest.

I agree with what you are saying completely.. but, knowing that I feel acting on those feelings is something wrong, I don't think I could REALLY take to heart what a person who did that told me.. I know, it is bad, but I just can't do it.. I can be friends with them, I can share clothing with them, I can buy stuff from them, etc... I just don't know that I could be lead to God by someone I felt wasn't following God's word.. Does that make sense?

Then again, on the other hand...it doesn't bother me that bad. LOL.

My hubby is a computer technician out here, and has been for years.. Maybe you guys know each other? What is your name?
