I'm a fraternal twin my brother's gay and I'm not. I don't share the same genes as him, but I developed under the same conditions in our mother. I'm not sure what the process involved would be but to me it's gotta be slightly genetic, developmental, and maybe choice.

I feel it's really NONE of my business nor interest, as long as it's peaceful, voluntary and among consenting adults. ;)

Just another facet of our masterful social-engineering being imprinted yet again...

In the nascent twilight of our consciousness, this question is far more pertinent (way-late in the eleventh hour): How can the few, control the many? Another interesting tangent reflected in this thread, how lightly we bear our chains of self-bondage.

Why such little understanding of Platonic era Greek culture, more surprising, far less understanding of a major adversarial culture less than 100 years old, ie. Nazi Germany? The answer is simple:

“Ideas are more powerful than guns. We would not let our enemies have guns, why should we let them have ideas.”--Joseph Stalin

Plain and simple, our culture is given to us to be applied for control.

Not that it is my business what people do with their property...but more applied eugenics--generally don't have children, die earlier and easier to control.

Homosexuality has nothing to do with eugenics as it's always been part of the population and a very small part of it at that. Though people want post strange figures if people look it up it's 1.5% gay, lesbian, bi. So pretty damn small. I have no idea how common it was with the greeks actually but obviously it happened with them and was accepted.

The lifestyle is being vectored into our culture, ie. among the heterosexuals largely for control. I would start with this book:

The Homosexualization of America (ISBN-10: 0807041432)

In 1982 Altman, himself gay, reported with an air of elation that more and more Americans were thinking like gays and acting like gays. They were engaged, that is, "in numbers of short-lived sexual adventures either in place of or alongside long-term relationships." Altman cited the heterosexual equivalents of gay saunas and the emergence of the swinging singles scene as proofs that "promiscuity and 'impersonal sex' are determined more by social possibilities than by inherent differences between homosexuals and heterosexuals, or even between men and women."

Then follow up with this: Libido Dominandi: Sexual Liberation and Political Control (ISBN-10: 1587314657)

Or just cut to the chase and download and read this: Full Report: US Congressional 1953-54 Reece Committee Hearings [50M, 2086 page report].

or not...

Dude that's stupid. You need to look up some old sex surveys. I forgot the names of some the famous ones. I'll try to beat my head against this desk it should come back to me. Anyway, if you feel promiscuity is a problem now well um that goes back awhile too. Much of the crap is just post WWII stuff. Most humans men and women have a handful of sexual partners in a lifetime. This probably hasn't changed much, but I wish I remembered the old studies.

This is a wry :), seriously, download and read the Reece Committee, it may jar your memory or not.

Seriously, where in the Reece Committee does it discuss Homosexuals? Anyway, um it's kinda creepy and about what I expected from the times.

Studies have shown that over tens of thousands of years the ratio of handedness among humans was about 10:1. Although there was an odd dip over the last few centuries to about 3%. A recent study shows left handedness is again approaching 10%. A study has attributed the following factors in this dip.

Left-handers suffered severe prejudice during the 18th and 19th centuries and it was often "beaten out" of people

In adulthood, left-handers were often shunned by society, resulting in fewer marrying and reproducing

As prejudice declined in the 20th century, the number of natural left-handers who stayed left-handed increased

I will suggest it is possible a similar issue exists with regards to sexual orientation. Social pressures may cause bi and gay men and women to hide their sexuality and live a life that is contrary to how they are "wired."

Why did they choose to be left handed? I had a cousin who was left handed because he listened to a lot of left handed guitar music, and then he started going to left handed clubs. Then one day he told everyone at a family gathering that he was a lefty. His mom started crying.

After years of immoral left handed behavior, he eventual got carpel tunnel syndrome. It was a big wakeup call for everyone. We dont know how much longer he has.

Hes not left handed anymore. Its to late to save his life, but thankfully his soul may still be saved.

Um yeah believe it or not in brain development there's a basic pre-defined right hander path. Especially in men there's a very common dominant brain arrangement. A lefty is actually not a swap or reconfiguration of this arrangement. Lefties are a mix of different configurations and do not have a set pattern. I'll have to look around for it but I got a book of structural MRi's lefties like women vary highly in layout.

Haha, yeah so this book written by a woman and she points out how easy it is to type the configuration.

From Hanna Damasio's "Human Brain Anatomy in Computerized Images"

She calls it the male right-handed dolichocephalic "long-headed" brain. It's almost always the one for an example in textbooks. It's heavily differentiated in hemispherical regions thus a excellent example for visualizing things anatomically. This layout has been typed for centuries just wiki it.

Note: Just read some more about these. They were part of the concept of "racial" anthropology, too. Since of course certain groups seem to have certain head shapes. Little did they know head shape doesn't give a great indication of the contents squashed within.

I've met people who I would guess were gay from birth, I've also met people who I think were influenced by their environment. I'm not an expert on it, nor do I care to be.
That's how I feel about it. Plus, I do not want society to "force" gay men into the marriage pool.

That's not doing anybody any favors.

Correct. Regardless of it being a choice, genetics, or a combination of both, we should not be forcing people to live a life they do not want to have since they can end up in a worse psychological state if it would continue.

I would not want to be with someone if I couldn't enjoy my life with them because I'd be scared to admit that I'm not really attracted to them.
