I don't want to spark a huge religious debate. I was just curious to see what different people thought.

In some people its a choice, some it may be influenced by genetics or society. There is no clear cut answer. Some people have foot fetishes, is that a choice?

Clearly a persons biology was designed to have sexual intercourse with the opposit sex, and I just happen to think homo sexuality is no different than a fetish. And I don't think you choose a fetish. That gets into the domain of psychological imprinting.

And before anyone jumps all over me for being insenstive I have a gay sister and a gay brother-in-law, so shut your noise tube.

How the hell do you have a gay brother-in-law? Is he married to the lesbian sister?

There is very compelling evidence that depleted minerals in the soil lead to deficient foods, causing a type of hormone malnutrition that manifests as homosexuality.

Homosexuality is a product of the farm bill.

Primarily, no....it is not a choice. Environment is secondary. Watch this very interesting and informative video on the brain's limbic system. It's long, but well worth it. Most of the video is not about homosexuality, but in order to understand this topic, you should really learn how the brain works. The way the brain works is fascisnating. You should also have a firm grasp of how the endocrine system works as well. For instance, is it a choice for a man to have higher estrogen levels? Does this play a role in sexual behavior?

Exactly...It's like asking if a fetish is a choice. Like people wake up one day and decide "I'm gonna have a foot fetish. YAY for ME!!"

It doesn't happen like that.

There are gay animals. Gay people are naturally gay.
Where did this stupid logic that gay people are straight people who choose to be gay come from?? That makes no sense.

for some it is a choice, for some it's not as far as I know. Diabetes is the same way. (if you want to call homosexuality a "disease")

Some heteros experiment with homosexual acts and decide they like it better, I suppose.

I am sure that a combination of factors, be they genetic, environmental, or nutritional, collude to present a greater or lesser chance of an individual 'FEELING' gay, and that many of those factors are not the choice of the 'gay' person....

However, the decision to engage in homosexual behavior, or ANY behavior, or not, is ultimately a CHOICE, regardless of how you came by the propensity to do so.

We can argue how the fetish came about, maybe its mommy, maybe its genes, maybe its that your first sexual experience was in Buster Browns....

But the person with the foot fetish still chooses wether or not to make love to a shoe...

If nutrition plays a role, just let me know what vegetable to stay away from. :)

LOL! I was hoping to bring 'hormonal poison' factors into play, like the estrogen mimic compounds in some petrochemicals, or the crap in dairy products.... perhaps I should have differentiated emotional/mental and physical environments instead.

Homosexuality is not a choice (most of the time). It is not a disease either. I think it is a genetic issue. I don't think it is wrong...
