How atheists became the most colossally smug and annoying people on the planet

There are a lot of things that I would define as "Persecution" that I wouldn't advocate any government intervention to prevent.

Mind you, there are still sometimes when the accusations of persecution are indeed ridiculous (And some cases that SHOULD be called persecution, yet some people idiotically don't pay attention to) but there are times where I would define an action as "persecution" yet not advocate government intervention.

Whatever. To me that is an uninteresting thread. I can't even muster the energy to want to respond to it.

I would like to know if those who feel that atheists are smug assholes like the OP says, have ever even tried to imagine what it's like to be an atheist. It does take some mental gymnastics. Most atheists were believers of god at some point in their life and have examined both perspectives.

If you're referring to the guy who wrote the article, he's an atheist.

I used to be an atheist too, for about 8 years. So I know what its like.

No. The mistake you're making is thinking that the question of God is an intellectual question...as if a person is unbiased and simply examines the evidence for or against God.

But that is not the nature of the question. This is a moral question. You can't be neutral on this question. You go in to it already presupposing the outcome.

Replace the word "God" with "the state" and I'd call you a modern progressive or conservative; more commonly known as a statist.

Yes, statists presuppose the existence of a state and interpret life through that. You presuppose the non-existence of God and interpret life through that.

And that is you just making up shit. If you are going to accuse me of something, try to base it on facts.

I was baptized and indoctrinated before I reached the age of reason. Shortly after becoming able to reason and examine facts, I shed the irons of slavery that I was born into.

That you think Christianity is slavery is an example of your bias against Christianity. You aren't neutral when you come to this question. You presuppose the outcome at the beginning and then you interpret all the facts based on that presupposition.

I came to that opinion on my own after believing the opposite. Which makes your assumptions untrue and continues to prove you can't objectively understand anybody else's situation. It's no surprise to anybody that you are extremely narrow minded.

You presuppose the non-existence of God and interpret life through that.
