Hope is nearly lost for me

Sure it's disappointing, but the truth is...

Ron Paul already won.

He won because he has educated hundreds of thousands if not millions on economics, foreign policy, sound money, civil liberties and the Constitution. And he has brought those people into the GOP on a local level where if they stick to and stay involved they will educate millions, tens of millions, more over the the coming years. The Libertarian Party has been trying to do this for years and failed miserably. Paul achieved it in less than a year! How incredible.

Ron Paul's campaign was always an unlikely quest. None of us could really have predicted that the MSM would completely and utterly blackout the Ron Paul campaign. It is frustrating. They cost us this battle, but they have lost the war.

My girlfriend is a Chinese national (PRC). When she came to this country a year ago she had just applied for membership in the Chinese Communist Party, but had not attended the required "Moral Education" classes. Her entire life she has been propagandized by the CCP.

We have followed the campaign together since before Iowa on the internet. But it wasn't till we watched the NH Forum from start to finish that she really knew anything about the other candidates or why Ron Paul was better than them. After that, I would find HER looking up stuff on Ron Paul when I wasn't around!?

Today, we were watching Paul's speech at CPAC on youtube and I noticed when it was over that she was crying. When I asked her what's wrong and she said, "That is the America that I wanted to come to America for."

All I could do was agree. That's the America that I want too.

Which is why when I complete my overseas tour I will be getting involved in the local GOP wherever I happen to be. And why all RP supporters should commit to doing the same.

It's also why I am still going to fill out my primary absent ballot and mail it proudly. And why I am going to proudly write in Ron Paul for the general election should he ultimately fail, though I have a modest hope that with Romney's withdrawal he may get a slew of Romney voter's...my parents among them.

I take pleasure contemplating this image: McCain furious, screaming, clutching thousands of write-in ballots for Ron Paul in critical battleground states such as my own that have cost him the presidency he never deserved.

And on that day, the truth will be obvious to all: the old GOP is dead. The Ron Paul Revolution has won.

First of all, Hail Constantine XI!

I love your post. I'm not despairing, I'm exulting that we finally have received word from the man and he's not doing a third party run. If you read the letter closely he's letting us know he has plans for something much bigger. He's going to lead a new liberty movement, something that will bring strong, patriotic pressure to bear on the corrupt machine in Washington. This is exactly what I was hoping for, some concrete plan to take the energy of the grassroots and transform it into definitive, effective action. To the ramparts!!! :D

We fooled Dr Paul when he started this campaign and he didn't think we would show, a nice fat money bomb in both his campaigns right now would be amazing to him and all our detractors. You wanna pump up Dr Paul? You wanna spam the emergency rooms with apoplexy patients from Faux News? You wanna set fire to the heart of this revolution?

The Minutemen suffered far worse then any of us can imagine eating the harnesses of their draft animals through that cold brutal winter in Valley Forge while their families suffered alone and far away in a wilderness in rough cabins with frozen dirt floors and not knowing if they would ever see their loved ones again.

But those starved demoralized men picked themselves up, they came out of Valley Forge, they crossed the Delaware when it couldn't be done, They beat the Hessians, they sent them scurrying back home with their asses handed to 'em on a platter. They gave George Washington the victory he so desperately needed and dared he hope for it?

Do we do any less now then give the final measure? The price of Liberty now is only money and comfort, the price tomorrow will be blood and suffering.

It is as it was then, "our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor" or it is nothing.

Give what we dare not hope for to our posterity!

Regardless of whatever fate has in store for Ron's presidential bid, remember that Ron is ALREADY in Washington, but he is facing some stiff competition for his Congressional seat this year! We must keep Ron's voice in Washington - We need to ensure that Ron keeps his seat in congress - lets give him the "energy" he needs to retain his seat in Washington - give what you can to his Congressional campaign: http://www.ronpaulforcongress.com/

Also, over 40% of the Republican Presidential delegates have not yet been "assigned", so McInsane still has a LONG way to go before he wraps up the nomination.

Have some faith in Ron's decisions, he's pretty sly sometimes... ;)

Exacly. I was just talking to my wife about this. The media would belittle and mis-represent him just the same - even if he were president. They would blame him for all the problems he would inherit when he took office. He would get no cooperation from anyone currently running the show. This is a LONG uphill climb we are looking at.

I am truly sorry for all who are hurting or feel betrayed tonight. Compared to most of you I have done very little. I can't imagine how many of you must feel, and I don't pretend to. But for me, this is just the beginning.
ditto that sentiment.

George Washington lost many battles before he won the war.

The objective of this war wasn't to elect Ron Paul president. That was a means to the end, not the end itself. The objective was to restore our liberty and the Constitution.

Ron Paul now has a national profile and a base of support to help elect more people like him to Congress. Ron Paul Republicans are being elected as delegates and many will seek and be elected to local party offices. Which means that four years from now, when Ron Paul or someone sharing his vision seeks the presidency, (s)he won't be starting from ground zero.

I had started to feel a bit confused and despairing myself until...

I finally took the time to watch this video.

Please do so and see if it cures your hopelessness as much as Ron Paul cured your political apathy.

Okay I'm sure most of you have read Ron's letter.

He said that the chance of a brokered convention is nearly zero. I knew Romney ruined it for us!!

And he is now officially saying that he WILL NOT RUN THIRD PARTY. He didn't say that he wasn't planning on it, he said that he will not do it.

I'm kind of taking this as admitting that he will not be the next president. I disagree with everybody when they say "it's the message, not Ron Paul" Well the message is useless unless we have a president who will put into use this message.

Is anybody else feeling helpless and hopeless now? Why should we continue trying to win this when there will be no brokered convention and he will not run third party? Seems as if the campaign is done. He shouldn't have made these announcements, I have a feeling fundraising is going to plummet because of this

For me, nothing has changed. I will still vote for Ron Paul, because there are no other acceptable options. I decided to support Dr. Paul after learning about his consistent record and then his positions on the issues. I was excited because finally, here was a candidate who I could vote for. I have never voted for the lesser to two evils, choosing instead to not cast a vote for someone which I could not support.

Ron's message and candidacy have and do run against the establishment. I wasn't naive from the beginning regarding how much of an uphill battle he faced to get the nomination. I have hoped that he would, and it's still possible that he might. However, considering all that has been accomplished during the last year and how the message of liberty has been injected into the race, no matter what happens in terms of Dr. Paul being nominated or not, it has been a success.

I love Ron Paul and what he is doing. He has put his life on the line for this (you don't go against the establishment without risk). I want the best for this nation and everyone in it. I wish the best for Dr. Paul and his family. I support him because of his message, but even more so because he is an honest, principled man of integrity and character. I can never vote for less than the option I have this year.

Did the convention come and go and I missed it?

From Ron's letter:

"(Romney)...does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get."

Why do you guys think this is a bad thing? Did you guys honestly expect the establishment to topple in 1 year? Rome wasn't built in a day. Even if Ron Paul did win the nomination he would have lost the general election. People are way too socialist happy this time around. No matter who the republican is democrats are going to win. That's all there is too it because people don't even listen to their candidates anymore. They just vote with their party. And when their party pisses them off they vote for the other party. They don't even consider third parties.

This country is broken and it's going to take awhile to fix.

At this point I wish Ron Paul would take this a step further and drop out of the race. Because at this point he might as well be running a third party. He hasn't had a media interview in weeks. The media has stopped caring about him because at this point they've proven themselves right. Ron Paul doesn't have a chance in hell. And he is wasting money that could be used on his congressional primary.

We need all the Ron Paul republicans we can get into congress and Ron Paul obviously has the best chance to get into congress.

The presidential race is over for Ron Paul and the sooner we all realize this the sooner we can move forward with the long term goals of the movement. I really don't get why you guys are so depressed about this. As if Ron Paul was the begining and the end of the movement. This movement has been happening for decades. It's not going anywhere. We made HUGE strides for it this year and it will only continue to grow stronger. That is as long as all of you stay on board and start thinking about what is best for the long term goals of the movement. Do whatever it is you can to make this movement stronger. All the young people on this board should start taking classes and start getting experience toward a political future so we can take congress.

The republicans are weak right now and this is the perfect time for the movement to infiltrate it. And if we play our cards right, when the republicans become strong again it will be Ron Paul republicans at the cockpit.

To everyone who thinks they just read a concession letter and that it's all over - turn off your computer and get some sleep. Come back tomorrow when you feel a little better. If you still can't be anything but negative then please do leave the the forum because the rest of us still have work to do.

I did and now am refreshed. I will canvass today. This revolution has just begun.:D

Imagine you are the general manager of an underdog team and you are inspiring the team by hope. Your team is doing very well but half way through the season you tell the team that chances are for us to make the playoffs are zero. How is the team supposed to play the rest of the games?

With Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero.

What are the people in the remaining twenty states supposed to do? I think this statement is discouraging to people who are still hoping.

Thomas Paine was never elected to the Presidency, nor to the Senate, nor to the House. He was never a Governor, indeed he lever held an elected position in this country, yet he was the father of the American Revolution. His ideas reached the masses through his pamphlets and incited hundreds of thousands to fight for liberty.

Look at the accomplishment of this feat. There is a great Libertarian conspiracy, and it is very similar to what the Fabian's did. slowly but surely, the Tortoise beats the Hare. In 2006 Ron Paul's mailing list may have had 50,000 to 100,000 names. Today it may have close to a million. He will spread the message of Liberty until his death, and has inspired many of us to run of office and to engage in politics now, as he will continue to do. He is an educator, and an inspiration the the great Libertarian movement of the 21st century. I truly believe that the political books written in 2100 will have a chapter on the Ron Paul Revolution and what he did to change America.

I see The Sheeple engaging these views when they find out that it will help them more than a handout. I see a congress and a senate full of men who fight for freedom, who don't make a fortune. I see 7 Judges on the supreme court reading our constitution and protecting our rights. I see Judicial review thrown away. I see executive orders thrown away. I see the end to the police state, and the end to the welfare state, an end to the warfare state, and an end to the Political class. We can do this.

Thank you, Ron Paul.

The longer Ron Paul stays in the race the more people will rally around him.

When McCain looses to Clinton/Obama in the general elections, the Republican Party will be leaderless.

Who then will be there to fill the vacuum left by the Republicans abandonment of Conservative principles?

Ron Paul.

What would it say about his leadership if he abandons the race now?

That he is a quitter.

No, Ron Paul is correct in staying in the race and trying to win as many delegates as possible, then taking them to the Convention and trying to have as big an impact there as possible.

Which will give him as big a role in leading the Constitutionalists back into power in the Republican Party as possible.

I like your plan of infiltrating, but I disagree with your plan of quitting.

7 months left until the national convention.

Ron is in 3rd place.

7 months for Huck and McCain to have their Dean moment.

watch this video, keep your eye on the guy in last place - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfQMJtilOGg then get back focused on everything we can do to help.

No, not at all. Although I am dissapointed in my fellow Americans for being so narrow minded and stupid - I understand that Ron Paul's movement does not end in November as the great Dr. Paul said in his letter. This is just the beginning. We need Ron Paul back in congress in Texas and we need to work to get other like minded individuals elected as well. Whatever happens in November - we are in for a rough next few years. We have much work to do. If you quit now - then nothing will ever change. Please don't be like a fart in a spacesuit.
