History is Repeating Itself Tonight

Great reference. God gave them freedom from Egypt and still they chose tyranny.

Very apt comparison to today really. We were given freedom and the people used it to choose tyranny.

Thank you for this. It gave me calm. We are the righteous ones united in our quest.

+rep to SchleckBros for his brilliant insight using the Word as a guide to what is happening here involving the 2012 primary elections/caucuses.

That Word resonated into the pit of my heart. No joke, no doubt.

I am going to let that Word keep me at peace and at rest, as I plan to take a hiatus from RPF and from all things Ron Paul and 2012 nomination/election in general since it'll be two weeks until the February caucuses, which I'll play catch up briefly, and then I'll take another hiatus for the post-caucus/pre Super Tuesday February break, where I should be fully rested and ready to rejoin the rEVOLution once again.

I'll be back soon. Thanks again, Schleck!

1 Samuel 8:1-22

1 When Samuel grew old, he appointed his sons as Israel’s leaders.[a] 2 The name of his firstborn was Joel and the name of his second was Abijah, and they served at Beersheba. 3 But his sons did not follow his ways. They turned aside after dishonest gain and accepted bribes and perverted justice.
4 So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. 5 They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.”

6 But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD. 7 And the LORD told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. 8 As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. 9 Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.”

10 Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king. 11 He said, “This is what the king who will reign over you will claim as his rights: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. 12 Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14 He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16 Your male and female servants and the best of your cattle[c] and donkeys he will take for his own use. 17 He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. 18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the LORD will not answer you in that day.”

19 But the people refused to listen to Samuel. “No!” they said. “We want a king over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.”

21 When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the LORD. 22 The LORD answered, “Listen to them and give them a king.”

Then Samuel said to the Israelites, “Everyone go back to your own town.”

+rep for awesome biblical reference. Even the spaghetti monster ronpaulforums atheist should appreciate this.

He's right. Look at Gingrich's negatives. America as a whole hates him. There are fewer GOP than independents, it is only with GOP that Gingrich could win a plurality election.

I agree. Gingrich has zero chance at defeating Obama. I'm just confused as to why he is bringing up Gingrich in this thread.

I really hope that isn't what is happening, but I think it might be. :( When people choose to believe lies and cheer for unconstitutional and immoral wars, and reject the golden rule in how we deal with other nations, and NEVER LEARN (voting the same crooks in, time after time)... there comes a point when God allows our free will to run its course.

This does not mean we should give up though. This makes me want to WAKE PEOPLE UP more than ever. These people who vote for the Newts and Romneys and Obamas are blind, but IMO those of us who believe should pray for them and continue to speak the truth, and SHOW them what is actually going on, until more and more wake up.

Anyway, I retweeted Judge Nap's Samuel tweet.

You must be kidding yourself to think that Gingrich would beat Obama.

No. Unless the nominee is Romney or Paul, expect another Obama presidency.

I don't think the point is whether the Newtant can beat Obama (any given Sunday). The question is does it make any difference whether Bathhouse Barry or Neocon Newt is POTUS; clearly, it doesn't. If it's about the cult of personality, sure, vote for anybody but Obama, but if it's about the direction the country is headed, then it's nobody but Ron. Only one of these things is not like the others, just one.

if gas is $10 a gallon, unemployment at 20% and inflation at 20% Santorum could beat Obama in a 2 person race

He's serious and I support his comment. The question is are you serious lol?... Gingrich doesn't get any independents or democrats; therefore, he can't win.

Like I said before, Newt Gingrich is NOT electable. Where in this thread does it say or presume that Gingrich is electable.

I can speak for myself.

I'm not joking. You guys are delusional if you think Romney doesn't have a good shot at Obama. Look at the polls.

Ok, how do you see Obama finding a way to lose? All he would ever have to do is talk about how liberal Romney is.

Newt has no chance of winning. Romney does only if he can form a coalition with us.

And yes, it does seem history is repeating itself. So many American's are begging for a king...forsaking our own heritage.

One of the most thought-provoking and insightful posts I've read on RPF imho. And I've read a lot of threads on RPF. :) + rep, OP.
