hey everyone, been a long while..

hey everyone.. its been quite a while since I have been around here.. I am entering my 3rd year of medical school and man its been a whirlwind.. I have to say that I have missed all of you and being around people who understand individual liberty and property rights.. the medical field is very much full of socialists and people who just are so far from my own line of thinking..

and no, I have not deviated from where I started all those years ago in 2007.. if anything it has been reinforced and I do see the necessity of a true free market in medicine..

but aside from all that I wanted to touch base here and see how everyones doing, what has changed, what has stayed the same.. this is a place that I still hold very dear and have some very fond memories of.

I have a couple friends who are MDs ( a pediatrician and an anesthesiologist) who are both free market advocates. You aren't alone out there.

I was just thinking about you the other day. Good to see your making the grades!

ETA - one of our 2007 alumni is now a radiologist in Miami, too. Can't remember his handle ATM.

firstly, awesome to see you again!! hope you are doing well..

and yeah I think it might be skewed in the younger generation unfortunately.. they haven't worked yet or understood the sacrifice of autonomy that will come with what they advocate for but hopefully some will get it at some point.. the lack of autonomy in the face of centralized power and insurance companies hijacking the market is pretty obvious but these people havent seen it clearly and some may never.

maybe what they need is some time in the hospital wiping the asses of medicare/caid patients there for the drugs and the resort style accommodations with 24x7 room service. whomever thought of linking patient satisfaction to medicare reimbursement was a complete moron. nurses shouldn't be forced to get customer service training by Marriot hotels.

yes, the people who write this policies are not providers and thats a major problem(even though many providers do not understand how to craft policy without letting their magical thinking and idealistic world view get in the way)

and yes, this is a service industry, however it is NOT the same as other service industries and I honestly think money itself is a clear conflict of interest in medicine but this isnt something that will go away so the free market is the only solution to mitigate that because the competition would help give us the cheapest and best care possible but people think we already have a free market so it is not easy to get them to understand..

So how are your fruit trees without the ever attendant gardener?

luckily my greenouse with all my citrus, avocado, and banana is booming with my mother caring for it, same with the vineyard.. most of the trees have taken to the land well and have begun to thrive on their own.. the peaches and plumbs are getting huge, same with the pears and mulberries... the apple trees dont seem to be doing as well unfortunately but i can replant and likely will..

so fortunately much of my work was not in vain..

luckily she set up a watering system to where she just has to turn it on every now and then and it does all the watering for her.. but yeah she was hesitant at first haha cause it was quite a lot of things I planted and just left to her.. she is a saint for taking it up for me.. I always wanted it all planted and established before i left for school so it would be thriving and producing when I moved back and it looks like that will be the case which is very rewarding

so glad to see a lot of you are still around.. think ill be sticking around as I need a good dose of common sense after being around all these people who seem to think if you dont believe in the almighty centralized government to save everyone, you are a monster hahaha

Awww crap. I was hoping you'd be the one giving us the dose of common sense.

LOl oh he is the butt of about every snide comment and joke that I hear.. and for myself of course I have mixed feelings about him and I go a little back and forth but I will say that I think he has many more positives than any president in recent memory, its unfortunate that he is such a polarizing figure which gives his enemies so much ammo against him.. I think if you took that away and solely looked at policy it would be a different picture..

I see him as a quintessential populist which has both positives and negatives but I still am not convinced that he is someone else's puppet or at least not fully, obviously anyone in high office has people he favors etc.. but Rand's working with him has given me some hope or sure

and so glad to see you still kicking around here, danno..

I saw a rep outta the blue from you, glad you posted, great to hear you're doing well...stick around for a while.

Some of us old timers have adopted the same attitude vis a vis Trump...willing to take what good we can.

+rep brother, good to see you again.

So, while we have you here, how about telling us what youre learning about Vaccines? There is always a big difference between what is the Truth and what is Taught. Just curious what your own experiences have taught you about the Politics of Vaccines in school?
