What I am listening to?
Nothing but the very best alt-rock album ever recorded.
A year had passed from release of this gem in July of 1993, until I fully appreciated it the following summer, where it would play constantly in the background as what I thought were monumental changes playing out in my life, that ended up being nothing but the same old dreary, world weary, minor cares and affairs that every human being goes through.
So painfully mundane and insignificant.
And I find myself, 30 years almost to the day, in the same situation, with the same troubles, only this time made much more melancholy and bitter due to my age and time gone by.
But it's a cool, early fall night, the heat is finally subsiding and the blindly charging man of thirty years ago is gone forever, but his memories of a summer that would change his life forever, remain.
And that is all we are ever left with.
And this sublime, haunting, epic recording brings those memories back in scores and droves, bittersweet, filled with longing, but still alive.
