He looks really good and could be awesome in defeating Congressman Steve Palazzo!

About Tavish Kelly:
Tavish has participated in and led multiple chapters of the Young Americans for Liberty, a constitutionally conservative student activist organization, at multiple universities throughout the country.

During the summer of 2013, Tavish served as an intern in the office of Representative Thomas Massie (KY-04), where he assisted the legislative staff, guided visitors around the Capitol, and helped Rep. Massie’s constituents.

When at home, Tavish helps manage Kelly Firearms, his family’s gun manufacturing and retail business in Picayune, Mississippi. His brother, Thom Jr., is a retired Specialist of the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment of the United States Army, and serves as a daily reminder of all the men and women who have dedicated and lost their lives to protecting our freedoms.

On Patriot Act:

Despite its name, the PATRIOT Act does little more than circumvent the Constitution to effectively repeal the 4th Amendment. The United States of America exist to protect the freedoms of their citizens, and it is the antithesis of patriotism to sacrifice those freedoms for a distant and unreliable promise of security. Tavish will fight to repeal this vehicle of big government and vote down any reauthorization attempts when it sunsets in 2015.

Very important reminder: The Patriot Act will need to be reauthorized in 2015. We need members to vote it down.

On The Federal Reserve:

Nearly half of the United States economy (and much of the world’s) consists of the dollar. Our money is arguably the most important component of our free market system. And yet, it is only part that we completely isolate from competition. The Federal Reserve allows a small group of economists to control the entire marketplace – at least until it corrects itself.

We have seen these market corrections have devastating effects in the Great Depression, the Stagflation of the 1970s, and most recently with the Great Recession following the housing crisis of 2007. Throughout these panics, the Federal Reserve has continued to inflate away the value of the dollar to no effect, other than increasing cost of living for those at the bottom of the socioeconomic ladder.

This year is the 100th birthday of the Federal Reserve since its creation in 1913. It is time for America to take a closer look at the Federal Reserve’s policies, and ask ourselves whether we want to leave our money in hands of unelected “experts” or let free market be truly free.

On Gun Rights:

The right to keep and bear arms is among the most important freedoms of any American, and the Second Amendment should be interpreted to prevent any and all Congressional legislation infringing upon that right.

Like many Mississippians, Tavish Kelly has used firearms for both sport and self-defense his entire life, and today he helps spread his passion through Kelly Firearms, a retailer and manufacturer of guns and ammunition in Picayune.

While in Congress, Tavish will actively work to repeal unconstitutional laws such as the National Firearms Act, Gun Control Act, and Brady Act, as well as prevent further incursions on the right to self-defense.

What do you all think about him?

Here's his website: http://www.tavishkelly.com/

I'm his Facebook friend, but he is a bit young with less name recognition to be defeating an incumbent.

He's still in law school. I wish him the best of luck, but I don't know if voters will take him seriously.

If Joe Tegerdine couldn't win a primary for the open seat back when he ran, why will Kelly beat Palazzo?

I hope we get a liberty candidate or fellow traveler in every race. Win or not, the people in office will notice and realize they have to start adopting more liberty positions to win. We are not going to turn every Congressperson into a Mises/Rothbard/Menger reading liberty advocate, but brining the ideas out will be a turning point!
