Well, there's a difference between the founders and pilgrims. America was an unclaimed land then. A more fair comparison would be "they hated British rule so much that they fled to France", which maybe donnay was referring to. Maybe? lol
 
If Ron Paul doesn't win, I will be leaving the country. I will only come back if a peaceful president is elected.

I refuse to live in a country where at least 20% of my work is taken and directed towards killing people in the Middle East (or anywhere else).
I've been thinking about this for a long time, and I doubt I'll change me mind. I am disgusted to be living in this country.

Right now I am leaning towards Canada for its proximity and outstanding foreign policy. I am open to all suggestions. I can live with socialist programs (there are no libertarian countries), so long as they are welfare for the poor.

You cannot be serious. Have you never heard of New Hampshire and the Free State Project? Are you moving to Canada because you are afraid that a bomb will kill you in the US? Otherwise, moving because of foreign policy doesn't even make any sense.

I owe "my country" NO service. I don't buy into that kind of mindless collectivism.

For the record, I have no plans to leave this country. However, I think it is inappropriate to chide others for choosing another path. Presumably, we all fight in our own way.
 
Even though our country is flawed, we Americans tend to be innately born with this spirit of liberty and freedom. Other country's do not have that bred into their blood and that is why no matter how bad things get, I will stay here. Canada...Are you joking? They are hugely anti-gun and they love their monarchy and Queen. They do not have that fire in their bellies like us Americans. I'm sorry if that offends some Canadians here.

Every country has its problems, but I'd rather deal with our problems where I actually have a voice. You won't have a voice at all as an alien in another country. You will be at the mercy of whatever dictator, party or queen/king is in charge. I don't know how old you are, so perhaps this is more of an adventure thing, which I understand. But as far as becoming resident of another country, it's going to take a lot of money and in some countries, bribery. Get in contact with a lawyer. The "nicer" the country, the harder it is to become a resident.

And as someone else already pointed out, you will still be obligated to pay taxes to the US.

Canada will most likely follow the USA, but we have such a small army so you don't even notice anything going on here. You best bet would be to find a job here and buy a small farm.

The German Jews never put up a fight. The Polish Jews, on the other hand, gave the Germans a good fight. Even in the death camp Sobibor, 300 of the 600 prisoners resisted the Germans and got away. Those were my ancestor and I am proud of them for taking a stand!!

I'd rather stand on my feet than live on my knees. What most people do not understand is when the global governance kicks in, there will be no place to run and hide--That's why we need to resist it now!!
 
How about you just stop paying taxes? If you make an income of under 25k approximately, you wont' be paying much if any into the war state.

Not sure how you are defining socialism, but Canada spends about 3% more as a percentage of GDP on social programs than the USA. That's it. No freedom of speech or association? News to me and our Constitution. Not that those pieces of paper mean much anymore be it north or south of the border.
