America the Ugly

Like, travel to the US is, in fact, down?

You can leave the question mark off that one

The US economy is set to lose billions of dollars in revenue in 2025 from a pullback in foreign tourism and boycotts of American products, adding to a growing list of headwinds keeping recession risk elevated.

Arrivals of non-citizens to the US by plane dropped almost 10% in March from a year earlier, according to data published Monday by the International Trade Administration. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. estimates in a worst-case scenario, the hit this year from reduced travel and boycotts could total 0.3% of gross domestic product, which would amount to almost $90 billion.

Hey it's less than 1% of GDP. And just think what lowered foreign demand means for Americans touring America. Lower demand for hotels. Lower demand for food while traveling. Lower demand for transportation expense. Lower demand for entertainment. Hell, that's a panacea for American tourists wanting to tour the US. Not so much for American business, but if you have money to spend on vacations, then American vacations will cost a lot less. Except, you probably won't be able to afford even an American vacation if you work in the American hospitality business.

Instances like this one are getting back to other foreign tourists that may have been considering vacationing in the US

German Tourists Deported From US for Not Booking Hotel

Another false narrative. These travelers weren’t deported—they were denied entry after attempting to enter the U.S. under false pretenses. One used a Visitor visa, the other the Visa Waiver Program. Both claimed they were touring California but later admitted they intended to work—something strictly prohibited under U.S. immigration laws for these visas.

Stop dragging leftist lies in here.

That's information that supposedly came from an interview with them, the transcript of which that the women say was basically doctored.
Among their travel documents were transcripts of their immigration interviews—documents they claim were manipulated.
“They twisted our words,” Charlotte said. “They made it sound like we admitted to planning to work illegally in the US, which simply wasn’t true.”
If you want me to believe what you're saying then produce the audio/video files of the interviews with the women. The authorities record such interviews for evidentiary reasons, and to ensure they're covered if accusations of improper conduct with detainees are raised. The recorded audio obviously exists - they'd need it to produce those transcripts from. Should be simple to do that.

I don't need a transcript or audio, I already know exactly what happened. Stupid teenagers said something stupid and a border agent perhaps took his job a bit too seriously and denied them entry.

Boo hoo.

Hornberger is my favorite lolbertarian satirist. He does such a great job that people actually think he is a serious thinker. Bravo. :toady:

How about you stop believing whatever the Fake News and international left tell you.

I didn't say the accusation was true or false. I only said that if you want me to believe it, you have to produce evidence. I know you're against due process. But now you appear to be against evidence as well.

I've dealt with administrative enforcement bureaucrats since I was in Junior High in the 60's. And just like traffic cops have quotas to fill (which causes them to target individuals who wouldn't otherwise be targeted), so do the Trump-era "immigration bureaucrats".

"No doubt operating under a deportation quota..."

Would make sense.

There's no mass deportations.

Have to pad the numbers from somewhere.

Whatever quota target they are trying to hit,

it needs to be much higher

The transcript is evidence, the burden is on the left (including you) to provide evidence to counter it.
And since entry into the country is even less of a right than staying in it we don't need much evidence or reason to deny them entry.

The transcript is evidence,
Remember those words when your girlfriend (originally had wife written there, but the idea of "Swordy's wife" seemed too far fetched) calls the cops on you (cuz with your personality, it's gonna happen) and the police make out their female-biased report (transcript) to get the restraining order of protection.

Completely different level of proof and presumption of innocence for that kind of legal issue when dealing with a citizen than with denying entry to foreigners who have no right to be here.
