Michigan GOP leader wants Paul barred from future debates

KTEN Local News

Associated Press - May 16, 2007 7:45 PM ET

The chairman of the Michigan Republican Party said today he will try to bar presidential candidate Ron Paul from future GOP debates.

The Texas congressman made remarks that suggested the September 11th attacks were the fault of US foreign policy at a GOP debate last night. Paul drew attacks from all sides, most forcefully from former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, when Paul linked the terror attacks to US bombings.

Michigan party chairman Saul Anuzis says he will circulate a petition among Republican National Committee members to ban Paul from more debates.

At the debate, Paul said "Have you ever read about the reasons they attacked us? They attack us because we've been over there. We've been bombing Iraq for 10 years."

Anuzis called the comments "off the wall and out of whack."

Just signed it, put a link on my site, and encouraged others to do the same.

Thanks to you guys! After viewing the first signature, I noticed there wasn't a location field. ARRGGHHH...thought I had crossed all my "T"s. Frustrating.

I'm waiting to hear from the petition site to see if this can be added.

Thanks again! United we stand.

A friendly suggestion...

I would like to add to my previous post that rather than being aggressive or confrontational in our comments to the RNC, we should be assertive and state our position.

For example, if you are a card-carrying, due-paying RNC member, then let the RNC know and also indicate the number of membership years.

If you are joining the RNC to vote in the primary and vote for Ron Paul, then let them know that as well.

Flies with honey...speak the international language of money...and "all that jazz".

Best to all,
Dena

Oh, thanks for the DIGG. Is that correct terminology?? :) Being a middle age, online person (not like a lot of you cool 'kids' - and, by the by, I consider anyone still in their twenties a kid ;) ), I'm afraid I haven't kept up with all the "cool" online stuff. I'm not certain how the DIGG stuff really works, but it's a fantastic concept.

I think we need to go a step further and everyone get an actual paper and pen petition and go around and collect signatures as well. There is NO reason that we should just focus on the people online to petition the republican party.

Traditial Ink Signatures

Kandilynn, I think that is a fantastic idea if it can be done rather quickly. I believe the petition signatures will have greater impact if submitted in one package, though: traditional ink signatures combined with the printed signatures from the online version submitted under one cover.

I will volunteer to be the central point for the signatures if needed. I would like to set the deadline for May 23 (one week) since the next debate is fast approaching and this GOP chair is obviously moving quickly.

Those interested in obtaining traditional signatures can print the petition from the petition site, gather signatures on signature sheets (Word or Excel doc), and then send them to the following PO by the deadline:

RNC Petition
c/o Nac Electricity Concerns
P.O. Box 632788
Nacogdoches, TX 75963

Strange box holder name but it is one I used for another project that is now going unused. :)

Alternatively, you can send the obtained signatures to the RNC yourself, but I am concerned about maximizing the impact.

Let me know if anyone has questions.

many thanks to all! dena

Urgent Action Request...

I don't know if this is proper board etiquette, but I am bumping this thread requesting quick action (before the thread falls off the page.) =) My apologies to anyone I may have offended with this bump.

Please sign the RNC petition at:
http://www.petitiononline.com/RPRNC08/petition.html

More info can be found in the thread. We need to stand united in this...which is more critical than ever after some of the media slander I saw tonight.

Many thanks!
