Ron Paul supporters are very dedicated. They will drive a 100 miles to see him at a rally. They will sign wave, post all over the internet - "Ron Paul 2012" and religiously do online polls. Only downside....they don't go to the polls that count.
There's a post somewhere else on RPF. The Ron Paul supporter is looking to drive to PA from WV with 2 friends who he hopes to persuade to vote for Ron Paul in WV.
That might be a typical scenario. 3 attendees, no votes in PA, 1-3 votes in WV.
Any time you see a rally there are likely all types of people like the WV person here on RPF. Who exactly is to blame? If the rally is on a college campus, it is clear that we have to blame college kids. But if it was held outside somewhere, maybe the residents of the town.
I think that maybe the problem is that we just don't have enough supporters. Yes, turnout could be better, but I'm confident that that WV fella will vote in WV, whether or not he sees a Ron Paul rally in PA.
