Has the Revolution ruined any movies, shows, etc. for you?

Everything in the news is a string of propaganda, and I've seen it first hand. The flood in Washington isn't all that bad, it happens every year, but they make it seem like it's the end of the world. I saw them cut and edit out parts of the Snohomish river to make it look more dramatic. They were down by the soccer fields (which gets flooded even if there isn't much rain), to make it look dramatic! Yet the river was barely over the park! GAH!
*punches wall*

I was in Kuwait City right on the Gulf and my buddy was telling me about how during the first Gulf War the news cameras had to choose their angles just right so that when they were shooting video with the news anchor talking with a Kuwaiti landmark in the background they couldn't show the water because if you were to see the water you'd see the jet skiiers and sail boats enjoying a typical afternoon on the water.

Go back and watch the Drew Carey show...

you might even notice his Reason t-shirt on a couple of occasions

I'm So mad now, the Revolution totally ruined my favorite Star Trek series. I began to realize that the Star Trek Federation showed classic signs of Communism.

'A lot has changed in the last 300 years. People are no longer obsessed with the acquisition of 'things'. We have eliminated hunger, want, the need for possessions. We've grown out of our infancy.' - Picard

And how did this 'change' come about? Did Obama become President?

Actually, they have access to unlimited amounts of any type of goods they want via the replicator. The type of civilization they have in that show is called "Eudamonia" (Greek for "happiness"), where economics move from those of scarcity to those of plenty (we are starting to see that with the internet--the information economy). In such a system, people no longer have to work for a living, but do so for pleasure. There is no need for factory workers and such, so people choose to become artisans, scientists, explorers, etc.

It's the ultimate end point of all paths of human society involving technological advance and imperfect government control systems. Free market gets there the fastest, as increasing mechanization reduces prices to the point where it is no longer economical to charge for most goods (much like you can access these forums or any number of other services on the internet for free).

In theory, communism leads there, but in reality, they stop short due to lack of incentives for industrialization and punishment of divergent ideas.

Nothing from the "pop culture", MSM, CW science and health or poltical realm enters my cerebellum without having to go through at least three or four bullshit filters.

Not to say it doesn't get through, it just gets, "quarantined" I suppose.

I like trying to play those games with no taxes.

I play age of empires and try to follow the principles of no taxes, friends with all...alliances with none, I don't attack other countries...

My economy was in great shape, all of my citizens were happy...

It really does make the game a challenge and you certainly have to get through some tough times (early attacks are the hardest) but you definitely become the most advanced and wealthy nation in the end.

The problem I've noticed with those games is they are designed to only work well if you use an authoritarian approach. In Sim City unless you zone all the land, run water, gas, electricity lines etc. nobody will even move in and start building. Then unless you raise taxes so you can buy the people everything they want nobody will ever be happy, and they will live in their houses and do nothing.

For once I'd like to see a game where your "subjects" had AI and could actually think for themselves without you telling them what to do. You would found a country, write a constitution and enact a system of government, then sit back and see if it would survive and flourish without you pulling the strings. It would be kind of like a culture in a petri dish.

Of course nobody will ever design a game like that because they want you to have your hands full running everything so you don't get bored. So in every strategy or economic simulator I own, the people are just mindless robots that do what you tell them, and do nothing if you don't give them a job. Totally unrealistic. Has anyone ever heard of a game that's not like that?

Oh yes. Lots of stuff.

I still like 24 but it was far fetched enough to be considered fantasy for me. Even the torture they do is mellow, no beatings or waterboarding ect.

The FBI shows probably bug me the most right now. They seem to be pushing the idea that the constitution doesn't matter!
Any show that embraces gov or statism or collectivism pisses me off =)

For example:

Now, when I play games like Call of Duty 4, in the back of my mind I'm thinking, "Well, my character shouldn't even be in Baghdad or wherever he is in the first place."
All through the demo I couldn't help thinking that the enemies looked way too sophisticated, organized, and well-funded to be terrorists.

Matter Replicators. Think about it... once buying a Matter Replicator becomes as cheap and easy as buying a microwave oven at Target, what else do you need besides a house and possibly a car (don't trust those transporters)? Get your own Holo-Deck and all your entertainment needs are fulfilled too.

Well I always see those commercials: "Sell your old gold jewelry for COLD HARD CASH!" I'm like haha are you serious... :P

I went to watch a movie in the theatres awhile back with my dad and one of the ads (which is another thing that annoys me, adverts before movies now?? consumers consumers!) before it was a Kid Rock music video with soliders and war. But it made it all seem patriotic, and showed the soldiers giving kids candy or something. I forget the lyrics now but it seemed so bizarre i was sitting upright staring at the screen thinking "WTF" i almost wanted to turn to my dad and starting talking about interventionism.

I've lost a lot of respect for Robin Hood.

The bastards (socialists - like they always do) subverted the message. Of course the media and elites set the esoteric agenda.

Robin Hood uses to TAKE FROM THE RICH (The king etc, because they TAXED exorbitantly) and give back to the POOR - the people's OWN property back...

1966 Robin Hood version is teh real deal from what I was watching.. :D actually states that pretty much.

Well one thing good came out of the movement...it's getting ya'll off the idiot box. I haven't been much of a tv watcher since the 80's. Movies, television, etc. all disinformation propaganda..used to brainwash people. I prefer the internet...i can go where I want. Watch what I want because all of the television channels are run by the same folk. First line of communist brainwashing are the governmetn schools..and then all media. tones

Everytime an overpowered ret pally melts my face I scream, "Damn you to hell Bernanke!!!!"

hasn't ruined any of my 'entertainment'. It's actually enhanced much of what little media veiwing I take part in, eg the MSM is like a new form of comedy for me now.

The West Wing...it's always been extremely liberal, in fact it's been called the left wing, but I was pretty liberal too when it first came on the air in 1999 or whenever it was, and I truly loved that show. I still do for the quality writing and acting and the well intent, although misplaced. But these days I can pick apart its policies with ease and feel as though I could trounce President Bartlett in a debate.

It's ridiculous, but I can't help it now.

- Absolutely. I've thought the same thing when playing that very game.

Bill Maher. I never really adored everything he did, but I thought he was funny and since he was attacking Bush most of the time, it was funny. But ever since this election fiasco, I can't stand to watch him. I literally get irritated listening to him or any of his guests.

Ditto on the Daily Show/Colbert, but only like 50% ruined. Those guys are still good with the jokes.

x2 on this post. I used to watch Real Time with Bill Maher, mostly because I enjoyed his guest. But I haven't been able to watch that show in a while. I watched a little bit when he had RP on and was calling him his hero, but I couldn't stomach his show for much longer after that.

I stopped watching Stewart/Colbert for about 6 months. I started back up about a month ago, but it's not the same. So far Stewart has been very gentle on Obama, but I'll at least wait and see how he is towards Obama once he's sworn in. I want him to rip up the Democrats when they are constantly screwing up.

At the start I was yeaah, go Colbert / Stewart.. would watch them nightly.. it became habit.. get my oreos and milk, lmao... And ha ha at the establishment..

Then comes teh Obama thong... hardly care for it anymore (don't).

Ok, on a serious note, I used to enjoy watching the Charlie Rose show, but his blatant shilling for the CFR agenda is just so overbearingly obvious that now I want to slap him. Right now on my TV, he's interviewing some asshole who came right out and said "we need a global central bank", and Charlie just goes along with facilitiating the lies about our economic system and hyping global governance.

"Capitalism out of control...we need a powerful international body that can restrain states like the U.S. from excessive borrowing...we need more global oversight of financial market...the IMF needs lots more money and power...."

Fucking prick.
