Has Romney ruined it for us?

I thought the plan was for all four guys to stay in for a brokered convention. Is this still possible or does McCain have it in the bag now? When I heard Romney dropped, I got pretty scared

It puts a lot of delegates up in the air, doesn't it? I don't see the problem with that at all.

Well, many considering Romney supporters now = Paul supporters, and I don't think hardly any of them will be going to McCain, this could keep McCain just as low in delegate count as if Romney were still running...

and work to our advantage.

How many do you think will gravitate towards Huckabee before Paul though?

I'm just kind of worried that people are still going to put their conscience aside and vote for the "winning team"

McCain has only gotten 30% of the votes cast, the other 70% hate him.

The Christian right are a pretty well informed bunch of folks, they know Huckster is a sham big government con-man. They also don't like McCain's liberalism. They want a conservative in the WH, and will join us to try to make that happen.

We understand that Romney is CFR and a warmonger, but those who supported him didn't understand who he really was.

Our biggest obstical is the media blackout. That is the primary reason for RP's low numbers. With the field thinned out, he becomes more obvious. I believe we will get some help soon, from Those who hate McCain and understand the Huckster. At least I'm hopeful.

I'm just worried because McCain has more than half the delegates he needs for the nomination and with one less guy out of the picture and the media painting him as the presumptious candidate, I'm having a bad feeling about a brokered convention being possible.

Is it possible that he will NOT get the required delegates before the convention?

Well, don't worry about it. It's a possibility and nothing more, and we're obviously in a place that we don't need to be looking for any worst case scenarios. Romney leaving is good, don't mistake that.

Don't panic!

This is just playing into RP's hands. The campaign has been waiting months for this, and has been collecting millions of dollars in the meantime. Now it;s just down to three (and soon, 2) candidates for the nomination. It wouldn't have made sense to go through that $ in such a crowded field, but now the plan will spring into action. This has all been laid out ahead of time- jus t wait.

Well, I think most of my fears have been slightly eased now. Thanks everybody. Hopefully things play out how we want them to

Ron Paul should just outright say

"If McCain is the nominee, I will run 3rd party".

Call their bluff.

And then Ross Perot, who hates McCain, runs billions of dollars of ads on our behalf, just to spite McCain.

Looks like I was wrong. I was predicting that Romney would stay in and Huck would drop out, without any real hope of a brokered convention.

This gives a glimmer of hope.

Who do you think Perot's supporting now? Could it possibly be Paul?

HAHAHAHAHHAHA! Thanks for the laugh!

My entire family is Christian. About 3/4 of them are Born Again Evangelicals and live in the South. Trust me when I tell you that they DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT HUCKABEE IS A CON-MAN!

In fact it's the exact opposite. Most of the Evangelicals I have talked to are convinced that Huck is "Gods Chosen Candidate". Any and all evidence that I have put in front of them they TOTALLY IGNORE! They do not care about his voting record, they do not care about his flip-flopping, they do not care about anything else because Huck has convinced them that God is on his side. The only way we will gain most of those people is if Huck drops out and explicitly tells them to support Dr Paul. Otherwise they will all support WHOEVER he tells them to and they will do so blindly and without any conscience thought. Just like they support W.

I don't want to paint a bleak picture or lump in ALL evangelicals but pretty much everyone I've ever talked to falls into line behind Huck. The fact that Huck won all those Southern states is all the proof you need to realize I know what I am talking about. The only other way we can gain their support is if enough Evangelical churches start to endorse Dr Paul. I'm convinced they won't do this until Huck drops out.

Faith overrides logic and reason. That's why arguing with someone's faith is a no-win situation. I not just talking about religious faith, I'm talking about faith in general.

This is a general observation of the populace as a whole. It's why we have people rejecting well supported scientific theories, believing in conspiracy theories, saying their team is "the best", and why every religion believes their god is the one true diety.

I've talked to people who support McCain, but they don't give any sound reasons for supporting him. They just do. It's their belief he is the best. And no amount of logic seems to have any impact.

But, on the bright side, I'm getting better at determining who is worthwhile to spend time on and who not to. If someone tells me that God told them to vote for Huckabee, I say thank you for their time and move on. If someone tells me they're voting for McCain because he's not a pussy, I thank them for their time and move on. In the face of illogic, only a fool stands and argues.

Of course, our job is made much more difficult by the MSM shoving their candidate down everyone's throat. :P

You can keep trying of course, but you won't get anywhere. Even as the country crumbles all around them.

*sigh*

You mean "presumptive". But he's presumptious too. Look it up.

Quoted For Extreme Truth... :(. I know about 3 Lutherans at a church of 1000 I use to go to who support RP... which led to my discovery that I am an atheist. Such blind faith is...sickening, and applaing that any one could believe such a thing, and that I fell for it for so long... *goes to take shower*

It's my understanding Romney has "suspended" his campaign, not outright quit, this may be just another political word game but....

Out or not his name will stay on ballots just like Hunter Rudy Thompson, and collect votes and if he is not officially out delegates. He has not endorsed anyone or released his delegates. I'm betting he won't.

My money says he rides in back for a brokered convention then trades his delegates for a VP seat if nothing else.
