On my classroom wall is a copy of the US Constitution. I want to point it out to my students. I want them to spend a moment recognizing the document that has been distorted beyond all recognition the past few weeks.

I'm afraid we are making a turn in this country that we may never recover from. It will take generations to undo the damage of one feeble-minded, intellectually-lazy President. Do you remember the days when people, in their ignorant bliss, shunned the polls because "it didn't really matter who the President was"?

Oh how fitting that Bush chose to wear a red tie to his address last night. The only thing missing was a hammer and sickle lapel pin.

I cannot shake this thought:

"Remember, remember the 5th of November..."

I should add that I am supporting Obama. Out of absolute disgust for the former-republican party. My reasoning...I am pro-labor. I distrust a large corporation as much as I distrust a large government. We are seeing the fruits of that evil right now. Even worse to see the two aligned.

I feel I must go with Obama because of the math in this cesspool, this Reddest of Red states that I live in (texas). A vote for anyone other than a Democrat unfortunately has no effect on that most despicable of the human species...the gutless, soulless, shameless and utterly disgusting republican elected official.

If I lived in a blue state, I might be tempted to reconsider...but the Libertarian Party has lost me as well. How are we left with this? to paraphrase Simon and Garfunkel "where have you gone, Ron Paul? A nation turns its lonely eyes to you."

I am rambling and I have no doubt that my support for Senator Obama will get me run from here. All I can say is that, in the wake of Hurricane Ike and the events of the past two weeks on the nationwide stage...it is a dark, dark time.

Just a thought on big corps I'd like to add. I'm no means an expert in these matters, but from what I've been able to read and a bit of faith in Dr. Paul's words. Big corporations can only get so big (think monopolies of their corner of the market) with gov. help. The regulation which prohibits true competition because only the big and the connected companies can succeed. In a free market, true competition will always ensure that no company gets too big because when it does, someone will come up with a way of doing the same thing better much cheaper with lower costs and bring the big guy down to earth.

I realize that is in an ideally free market which may be impossible to achieve, but apparently the closer you get to such an idea, even if not 100% there, the effect is proportional. Think about the cost of medicine for example. Definitely cornered by the big guys. What if a local pharmacist could carve into that market big time by providing much more cost effective solution (his advice) to people. He of course can not do it today because of the regulation, but if there wasn't regulation and left up to the people to decide who they trust and who they do not. Couldn't that person subscribe antibiotics for common illnesses, and other remedies that don't require big pharma.

The common argument is that could be dangerous. Sure it could be, but think about it from your own perspective. You probably wouldn't take advice from just anybody. This is your life and health and you would make sure that at least some basics and precautions are taken. The person would have to have some credentials, may be have a good reputation among people/customers, a track record, etc. Or if you felt uncomfortable you would see an MD, just to be safe. But you would have a choice. People wouldn't just throw their lives away and die because a non MD person was giving advice, although I'm sure that in a large populous like the US there would be cases of everything possible out there.

The bottom line is lack of alternatives due to gov. prevention. Startup costs, legal costs, license costs and qualifications, etc.. All prevent competition and give the big guys monopoly over their corver of the market.

Bold As Love, voting for either is voting for the same. Please don't do it. I understand how you feel. Just do your best to prepare for the coming economic disaster. Food may become scarce so stock up.

Obama and McCain are globalists and it is their goal to merge our country with mexico and canada. This economic crisis is by design to create desperation so that they can convince us all that the merge will save us.
